Louise was very responsive and easy to work with. She picked up my request very quickly and arranged for a meet and greet with my dogs. They were instantly in love with her! She was very thorough with information about feeding/bathroom/medicine times and even offered to clip their nails if needed. She provided updates as to when she was there and a left a message at my home in regards to the times they were fed and given medicine. I would highly recommend her and would absolutely use her in the future.

What can we say regarding Alexandria. She was perfect ! Polite, caring, punctual, professional. She gave my wife updates and photos of Chesney. While on our honeymoon, my wife Michele and I were at piece of mind. We knew right away at meet and greet, Alex was our choice and we were right. Thank you Alexandria for caring for Chesney and the flowers for Michele left on table. A thoughtful act from you. Michael

About: As a retired professional, I bring reliability, patience, and a calm presence to every walk. I’ve been a dog owner of two large breeds and one small breed. I have hands-on experience with doodle breeds and their unique personalities. I understand the importance of safety and health. I’ve cared for dogs with medical needs, so I’m comfortable with monitoring, medications, and giving extra attention when needed. Whether your dog loves a brisk walk, a gentle stroll, or some extra cuddles along the way, I treat every pup like family because that’s what they are. As a recently retired police officer, I currently work part-time so my hours are flexible and will have plenty of time for your fur babies. I will treat your home as if it were my own. I will safely walk your dog on leash, and can easily crate your dog, if need be.

Bryan did a great job dog sitting Mikey. We had to cut our trip early due to the snow storm and Bryan was very flexible and took so much stress off our plate. Would highly recommend him to anyone planning a trip - especially dog owners like me who often stress about finding the right person for their pup!

Meg was absolutely wonderful with our pups! They loved her the moment they met her. She is definitely a dog person. Meg took pictures of the pups during walks and when they were lounging in the living room. They looked so relaxed and chill, not looking as if they were anxiously missing us. She was very diligent in her care for our pups. We have two senior dogs, and one has special needs and she handled them as a pro. We are looking forward to having her watch them again.

John was an excellent sitter for our two senior pups. Both of them get meds these days and he was very willing to take care of them and spent hours hanging out with them. It was clear they were well loved while we were gone. He always made sure to check in with photos and any questions and was always clear if the schedule for the day was ever a little altered due to his regular work schedule. (Not that it mattered much as our pups are very adaptable but it was nice knowing he thought through each day and how it would be laid out!) We definitely will be keeping him in mind for future times we need a sitter!

Sylvan cared for our boy for two days and nights. He is a very sweet dog, but traumatized by his years living in a cage. Sylvan was gentle and patient with him, giving him space so he could be comfortable. She did everything right, and she understood that he might not eat normally. She left our home in the condition she found it. Lots of photos and updates came our way. Definitely a 5 star dog sitter,

I was able to enjoy my time away much more knowing Chevy was in good hands. Skye sent me photos, videos and updates all the time. I highly recommend Skye for any of your pet needs!

About: I'm a web designer who works 100% remote, am a true animal person at heart, and have been petsitting on the side since 2021. My family has three kitties (pictured in my profile is the sassy Bee Bee) and I have grown up with animals my entire life. I promise to care for your pets like my own. 💙 I work full-time about 8:30-5 fully remote - so wherever I have WiFi I'm all set! I love to house sit so I can give your pets even more love and attention throughout the day. However, I am also available for occasional drop-ins in the morning and evening during the week, and am usually fully available on weekends. I pride myself in following your instructions to a T. I'll always leave your home clean and your pets happy, fed, and safe. I also make it a priority to gather emergency information before any booking to be prepared in the case of any situation. Finally, I ask that I please be made aware of any cameras inside and/or outside of the home for the safety of myself and your pets.

Sara was great! She was quick to respond to any messages and sent lots of pics while we were gone. We were grateful she could house sit as one of our dogs gets pretty anxious when he is away from his comfort zone. Our pups had a great time with her and we will definitely reach out again in the future!

FAQs for House Sitting - Squankum

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 2,602 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Squankum. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Squankum walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Squankum maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Squankum choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Squankum. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
