About: As a retired professional, I bring reliability, patience, and a calm presence to every walk. I’ve been a dog owner of two large breeds and one small breed. I have hands-on experience with doodle breeds and their unique personalities. I understand the importance of safety and health. I’ve cared for dogs with medical needs, so I’m comfortable with monitoring, medications, and giving extra attention when needed. Whether your dog loves a brisk walk, a gentle stroll, or some extra cuddles along the way, I treat every pup like family because that’s what they are. As a recently retired police officer, I currently work part-time so my hours are flexible and will have plenty of time for your fur babies. I will treat your home as if it were my own. I will safely walk your dog on leash, and can easily crate your dog, if need be.
“Bryan made our first experience with Rover extraordinary. He took amazing care of our 2 special need hounds; and I can’t thank him enough for the peace of mind we had leaving them for the weekend.”
“Rachel is a superhero for my dog and cat, when we are away my pets also have a vacation! They are loved and cared for like her own pets. I trust her 100% she is just lovely, reliable and kind”

About: I’ve been around dogs my entire life and grew up on a farm, so caring for animals has always come naturally to me. I currently work at a dog daycare, where I regularly handle dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments. I’m experienced with feeding routines, playtime, and closely monitoring behavior to keep every dog safe and comfortable. I’ve also administered medications and given insulin shots to dogs, so I’m confident caring for pets with special needs. I treat every pet like my own and always make sure they feel safe, loved, and well cared for currently work part-time at a dog daycare, so caring for dogs is already a big part of my daily routine. I work mornings on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday, which leaves me available in the afternoons and evenings on those days. I’m also available most weekends, and I’m working toward having an even more flexible schedule soon. I’ll always make sure your pet gets plenty of attention, care, and consistency I prioritize a safe, calm, and comfortable environment for every pet. While I can offer care in my home when needed, I typically prefer caring for pets in their own home where they feel most relaxed and secure. I have experience handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments through my work at a dog daycare, and I always supervise interactions closely and follow each dog’s routine. I’m also comfortable with crating if needed and have experience administering medications, including injections

“As usual, Sheryl was fantastic. She stayed with our senior pups for two weeks. She was very attentive to their needs and updated us regularly to let us know how they were doing. Our pups were sad to see her go!!”
“Chelsea was very communicative and sent lots of photos during the time she stayed at my house while watching my pup. I’d recommend her for house/pet sitting and hope to have her back!”

About: I had a lab and weinerdog when I was little into my teens. We got our pit when I was 11. He's a senior now. And currently I have 2 cats if my own. One of my cats takes a med every night while the other one needs a butt wipe and grooming. I work full time as a para at a school for disabled, and part time ABA therapy for kids with autism. I'm hoping to fit in hours during the weekend and during school holidays. I feed, groom, clean litter boxes, and administer meds to my cats. My male cat is very playful, while my female cat all she wants is to be brushed constantly. Growing up I had a very feister daschound who played a lot, even in her old age. Generally I'm comfortable with whatever your pet might require.
“Charlotte just stayed at our house for 8 days to take care of our puppy. She was amazing, didn’t mind assisting with some house sitting things like mail and garbage as well and our dog was so well loved and take n care of. This was such a game changer for us - having someone able to stay with our dog in her safe space and we will be hiring Charlotte again soon. Thanks Charlotte!”

“Kelsey was great with our Goldendoodle! This was our first time using Rover and she came to meet Brodie the week before we went away. While we were away, she kept us updated with photos and took great care of him for two nights. We would book with her again and highly recommend to anyone looking.”

“Darlene is AMAZING! We have 4 dogs and Darlene went above and beyond to make sure they were treated like royalty while we were on Vacation. As soon as we met her, we knew she was the one to watch our furbabies. Darlene's communication was outstanding, Sent pictures, tended to all of their needs, and communication was phenomenal! She made our Vacation stress free with no worries!”

“Meg was absolutely wonderful with our pups! They loved her the moment they met her. She is definitely a dog person. Meg took pictures of the pups during walks and when they were lounging in the living room. They looked so relaxed and chill, not looking as if they were anxiously missing us. She was very diligent in her care for our pups. We have two senior dogs, and one has special needs and she handled them as a pro. We are looking forward to having her watch them again.”

About: I’ve been around dogs my whole life and currently have two of my own. I work at a doggy daycare where I care for dogs of all sizes and breeds, and I’m the go-to dog sitter in my family. I have experience walking, feeding, bathing, and making sure pets are happy, safe, and well cared for. I genuinely love being around dogs and treating them like family. Pet care fits naturally into my routine because I already work with dogs and care for pets regularly. On weekends, I’m available after 1 PM and can dedicate plenty of time to walks, visits, and playtime. During the week, I work and attend school, but I’m available in the afternoons on Mondays and in the evenings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I’m used to planning my schedule around pet care and always make sure the pets I’m caring for receive reliable attention and consistent care. When I care for your pet in your home, my goal is to keep their routine as normal and comfortable as possible while you’re away. I make sure they’re fed on schedule, get plenty of walks and playtime, and always have fresh water. I pay close attention to their behavior and needs so they feel safe, relaxed, and well cared for in their own environment. I currently work at a doggy daycare and have dogs of my own, so I’m very comfortable caring for dogs of different breeds, sizes, and personalities. I’ll treat your pet like my own and make sure they receive lots of attention, care, and love while you’re gone.
“Louise was very responsive and easy to work with. She picked up my request very quickly and arranged for a meet and greet with my dogs. They were instantly in love with her! She was very thorough with information about feeding/bathroom/medicine times and even offered to clip their nails if needed. She provided updates as to when she was there and a left a message at my home in regards to the times they were fed and given medicine. I would highly recommend her and would absolutely use her in the future.”
“I could not have found a better dog sitter. Lisa was simply amazing. She went above and beyond to ensure. Cappy’s happiness, comfort, and well-being. She was compassionate and empathetic, not only towards Cappy, but to me as well, as I am a recent widow. You will not find a more kind or caring dog sitter. I highly recommend Lisa. I assure you, you will not be disappointed.”

“John was an excellent sitter for our two senior pups. Both of them get meds these days and he was very willing to take care of them and spent hours hanging out with them. It was clear they were well loved while we were gone. He always made sure to check in with photos and any questions and was always clear if the schedule for the day was ever a little altered due to his regular work schedule. (Not that it mattered much as our pups are very adaptable but it was nice knowing he thought through each day and how it would be laid out!) We definitely will be keeping him in mind for future times we need a sitter!”

About: Hi! My name is Joe Mattimoe, I’m a reliable dog walker/sitter based in beautiful Wall Township. Dogs have always been a big part of my life, and over the years I’ve gained experience walking, caring for, and connecting with dogs of every breed and personality. I also have some hands-on training experience through Wild Rover K9 Services in Point Pleasant, Where I gained practical skills in handling, basic obedience, and canine behavior—allowing me to provide calm, structured, and enjoyable walks tailored to each dog. Whether your dog is energetic or prefers a gentle stroll, I offer reliable, caring service every time. Their safety, happiness, and well-being are always my top priorities. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, experienced, and truly passionate about dogs, I’d love to help! I make my own schedule each month and have flexibility since I am semi-retired. Once I book a dog service, my day/week/schedule revolves around that client. I have access to a fenced in yard a walk away from my home (mother-in-law) it is a good way to get another walk in and then play. I can crate, and follow owner’s directions. If your dog needs to sleep in the bed, they will. If they need to be crated or left to roam around, they will. We take care of a special needs dog who has a hard time jumping up to the bay window in our home. We take the first pillow of the couch, place it on the floor so he can jump up and get to it. We rearrange the entire living room for this little guy and he loves it. Just an example.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Squankum on Rover is $46.62 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Squankum walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Squankum maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Squankum choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
