Bryan did a great job dog sitting Mikey. We had to cut our trip early due to the snow storm and Bryan was very flexible and took so much stress off our plate. Would highly recommend him to anyone planning a trip - especially dog owners like me who often stress about finding the right person for their pup!

What a week away it has been! A blizzard forecast came out of nowhere while we were away , and even though this was the first time we used Melissa, she handled it like a trooper ! She was willing & able to do whatever was needed to prepare for the storm, regarding both the house & dog, which gave us great comfort. She also jelled quickly with our dog, and we could tell he was happy from the updates & photos we received. Melissa comes highly recommended, and we will definitely use her again!

My dog LOVES Sheryl! She was so wonderful with our two year old maltipoo. I was able to enjoy my vacation knowing Flash was in such great hands. She sent photos and kept me posted with how my dog was doing the whole time. She even had recommendations for me which I really appreciated as a first time dog mom! I have already booked our next house sitting with Sheryl.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs my entire life, as I grew up with 2 dogs. I have 5+ year of experience in housesitting, walks and playdates. I also have experience with reactive dogs, where I can keep them safe during walks with patience. I currently work in a mostly freelance and remote environment. I am flexible and I communicate well about my schedule for accommodating your fur friends. I treat every pet at home as if it were my own. I make sure to follow instructions precisely and with care. I make sure to double check that fences are closed and doors are locked. Pet safety is a top priority. I have a lot of love for what I do and that shows in my work.

About: ***AVAILABLE JULY AND AUGUST, I WORK IN AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL*** I have had animals since I was kid and eventually adopted a dog of my own who had behavioral triggers and social restrictions that helped me learn a lot about dog and human safety. After his passing, I decided to work at the SPCA to have an animals lovin’ and I enjoyed every second of it. Because of my experience, they allowed me to work with the dogs who have a history and require more attentive care; seeing those babes go home is something I will never forget. I have some free time on my hands due to my 10 month employment at a school and don’t have a dog of my own to walk on these beautiful days! I’d love it if you let me spend some time with yours :) !!! I take care of my cats at home and we’re early risers! I have a pretty clear schedule except for the months where I am working at my school! I am used to the “closing up” of places (checking water bowls, collecting toys, locking the doors/gates) from my own personal experience and from working at the shelter. I like to make sure the animals are calm and happy so that the next time they see me, they’re closer to being as excited as I am!

About: I’ve been a dog lover since I was young. I grew up caring for a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel and a Chocolate Lab, and I currently have a very energetic Cockapoo. I love all dog breeds and personalities! In college, I also cared for a senior German Shepherd when their family was away on vacation. I have a very flexible and non traditional work schedule. I can watch and care for your dog on any of my days off as much and as often as you need. I will follow any instructions exactly to insure your dog is as safe, healthy, and happy as possible. I love going for long walks and making sure they get the exercise they need.

Savannah dog & house sat for about 8 days for us. She was very responsible. It was nice that she took the time to come meet the dogs and go over what the job entailed prior to our vacation. We were pleased with the care she gave our pups, and how nicely she kept the house. We will absolutely hire her again, and would recommend her.

About: As a retired professional, I bring reliability, patience, and a calm presence to every walk. I’ve been a dog owner of two large breeds and one small breed. I have hands-on experience with doodle breeds and their unique personalities. I understand the importance of safety and health. I’ve cared for dogs with medical needs, so I’m comfortable with monitoring, medications, and giving extra attention when needed. Whether your dog loves a brisk walk, a gentle stroll, or some extra cuddles along the way, I treat every pup like family because that’s what they are. As a recently retired police officer, I currently work part-time so my hours are flexible and will have plenty of time for your fur babies. I will treat your home as if it were my own. I will safely walk your dog on leash, and can easily crate your dog, if need be.

Couldn't love Brandon more if we tried! He has the most calm and patient demeanor and took such good care of our little Dachshund, Ravioli. This was the first time we were leaving him alone with anyone but my fiance and me, so we were nervous. Brandon came for our dinners so we could have an evening out and he made fast friends with Ravioli. He also helped him through some firework fears as this was the 3rd of July. Ravioli was thrilled to see him on their second night and allowed us dinner in peace. Brandon threw his ball and played with him until he was all tuckered out. Thank you so much, Brandon!

Melissa spent 4 days with our recently-adopted cat, Mama while we were away on vacation. She was very communicative and sent us regular photos and updates. She was very thorough in making sure she understood Mama’s temperament and her needs. Mama took to Melissa immediately and slept on the bed with her, and even rested on her (which she still hasn’t even done with us). I’d highly recommend Melissa and we would definitely book her again the next time we are away.

Having a strong connection with my boys, I hoped to find someone who could empathize. Rachel empathized and cared for my nervous lab and demanding staffy for 9 days. But more importantly she took time to get to know my guys and me. They were walked, cared for (during a storm, and late evening). The care Rachel provided helped me to enjoy our trip without worry. Thank you, Rachel

It was easy working with April right from the start. She responded promptly and communicated professionally throughout. Our 7-month-old puppy received loving attention, went on long beach walks, and had neighborhood dogs come over to play. April has a calm and confident manner, which assured me that our dog was in good hands.

Charlie was so attentive to our two pups during our longer vacation away. We have two senior dogs, one who requires a few different pills and she handled it all excellently. Our house was left perhaps better than we left it with clean dog dishes waiting for us! We got plenty of photo updates and she kept me in the loop when I worried about possible weather impacts when we were away! We would definitely use her services in the future!

FAQs for House Sitting - Lake Como

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Lake Como on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 8,543 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Lake Como. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lake Como walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lake Como maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lake Como choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lake Como. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
