“I needed a last minute sitter for bear while she recovered from surgery, Lauren was able to watch her for the day! She did great helping bear feel comfortable and i was able to go to work without having to worry about her.”

“Melissa and her sweet family took such great care of my high energy dog. Not only did she send a ton of adorable pictures of the pack exercising & snuggling, but from the moment she greeted my dog, I could tell she was in good hands. I definitely will be using her services again, my dog came home super tired and looked so happy throughout the day! Thank you Melissa!”

“Tracy puppy sat my baby girl! She made the day stress free. She sent updates through out the day and my pup came home happy and content. I would definitely recommend.”

“This was my first opportunity to use Rover and I had a great experience and so did my Luna. I could really tell Bonni loved pets and took great care to ensure my Luna had a great experience. Thank you so much!”

“My first time here on Rover and we had a great experience. Thank you so much! I’m so happy I found Leslie & James. The dogs were in great hands and I felt reassured they will be cared for from the get go.”

“My dog absolutely loved it at Cindy's house!! It's my first time using rover so I was a little nervous but Cindy went above and beyond! You can tell she really loves dogs and knows what she's doing. I definitely recommend!”

“Peter took great care of my high energy black lab Birdie. Birdie and Peter's dog Mia hit it off right from the get go. Would not hesitate to leave Birdie with Peter anytime. Planning her next visit now.”

“Josie, her husband, and Paco took great care of my Pip while we were vacationing in ABQ. Having Pip go over to her house allowed us to get some hikes, bike rides, and brunches in without having to worry is our young, energetic dog was being destructive or bored at the Airbnb. Highly recommend, and will definitely request Josie again when we return.”

“Melinda was very interested in getting to know our dog. She asked a lot of questions about his behavior, his personality, his normal day, etc. She was very concerned about making our dog feel like he was as much at home as possible. Peso seemed very happy when we went to pick him up. We would definitively recommend Melinda for dog sitting. She was quick to respond to messages, and she sent us a picture of Peso. We would use Melinda again if we are visiting Albuquerque in the future.”

“I met Elaine and her doggies about a year ago. My dogs finally stayed at her house for four nights last month, and then for one day last week. My dogs had already met her dogs a year ago, and when they met up again, they were like old pals. No growling or hassling. It was perfect! I got daily updates and pictures from Elaine. It was so comforting! And my dogs did great at her house and with her dogs, and it was just the best! I booked a full-day stay last week, and they were literally going INSANE when we were driving into her neighborhood. That tells me a lot about their experience there! They love going to Elaine's house! Our next booking is during the Christmas-New Year's Eve time frame, and my dogs are already so excited, and Elaine has let me know that so is she, and she's gearing her doggies up for a week-long visit :-) My neighbors/friends that used to keep them all the time are moving back to NJ, so this is exactly what I needed at this time in my life. I feel completely comfortable leaving my dogs at Elaine's, whether it's for a day or a week! This is the best thing EVER!!!!”
About: I have over 10 years of hands-on experience caring for animals of all shapes, sizes, and personalities. As the founder of a nonprofit rescue, I’ve worked with everything from energetic puppies to introverted senior cats, and I truly believe every animal deserves to feel safe, loved, and understood. I specialize in shy, quirky, or high-needs pets—those who might take a little extra patience (and maybe a snack bribe or two) to warm up. The photos you see here? They’re a mix of foster pets, my personal pets, and beloved dog-sitting clients. If your pet has ever been described as “a little dramatic,” “selectively friendly,” or “too smart for their own good,” we’ll get along just fine. My approach is gentle, flexible, and grounded in experience—and lots of treats. I tailor my care to each pet’s needs and personality, whether they’re a wild child or a cuddle bug. My goal is for your furry family member to feel right at home—even when they’re not. Someone is home most of the day, so your pets will have plenty of companionship. We’re only ever away for a max of four hours at a time—perfect for pets who need extra snuggles or supervision. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priority. I have a fully fenced yard and two friendly dogs who love making new pals. I can easily crate your pup if needed or keep them separated if they prefer their own space. My home is pet-proofed, cozy, and always full of love (and treats).
“In ABQ for vacation and searched out Kimberly on Rover based on all the reviews - gosh they were right!! She’s super responsive, flexible with your schedule, and great with our dog. Thank you Kimberly for being so welcoming!”

“Jamie was very friendly and communicated with me during the stay. She has young kids in the home for playtime with my small dog along with a friendly poodle of her own.”

“Cecilia and family were very kind and understanding of Buffalo’s insecurity being left behind. Her dogs were very kind with my dog and had no issues. She kept in contact with me and sent me pictures that reassured me that Buffalo was comfortable and safe.”

“I needed a last minute day care for my puppy bear that was spayed a week ago. Bear still had a cone and being a rescue she is still learning things like potty training as well as getting comfortable with humans. That being said I was timid to leave her with anyone she didn't know, however tamara handled her perfectly. I was able to work without worrying about my puppy, I had asked for updates at 11 and 3 which she provided with pictures as well as a detailed summery of the day. If your a first time rover user I defiantly recommend her!”

“Jason is great! My pups love going to his house for daycare. They are older and its always hard to find a place where they are comfortable like they are at home, but they are always excited whenever I drop them off!”

“Michael was very helpful and accommodating. I believe he did his best with Rocco to keep him occupied. Rocco has separation anxiety, but Michael made the efforts to gain his trust in a limited timeframe. We were very appreciative with his services!”

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NM ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
