“Sheryl and her family were absolutely incredible with our dog! I get so nervous leaving my dog with new sitters but Sheryl made me feel so ease. She ensured her sweet dog and mine had a positive introduction and sent me updates on how Rudy was doing while we were away. Thanks to Sheryl and her family I was able to relax and enjoy my trip without worrying about how Rudy was doing. Can’t recommend her enough!!”

“Shatane was an amazing dog sitter. Kept us updated and sent so many pictures of Gunner. Will definitely be using Shatane again to care for our pup! Thank you, Shatane!”

“Alysia’s service is top notch! Her family was so caring and treated my pup like family. Our pup came home content and he had so much fun. Great communication and updates. Thank you!!!”

“Mike and his family were great. We left our very active pup with them for four days. Abe loved running in the back yard ( which is fenced in and huge) and playing with the other dogs. The communication with Mike was efficient and responsive and he sent daily pictures of Abe. We would definitely recommend Mike and will certainly use him again in the future.”

“Anna took great care of my 1 year old dog who is a ball of energy! 10/10 recommend great sitter and clear she is a genuine dog lover. Would 100% ask her to sit my dog again and fully vouch for anyone else to consider dropping theirs off to her! Thank you Anna!”

“Melissa is AWESOME! Jagger always has a blast. He runs right to her when she picks him up. I feel very comfortable knowing Jagger is with her, safe, and having so much fun!!!”

“Stefanie was absolutely wonderful in taking care of our dog! About: I’ve taken care of pets since I was 15 years old and have had a black lab my whole life. My friends and family have relied on me to take care of their pets which has sparked a passion in me. My sister’s dog is handicap (using diapers/harness for stairs) and I’ve found through my experience watching him that I have built confidence in taking great care of pets. I look forward to hearing from you! I currently work in an office Monday through Friday 8-4pm. I am available for boarding on weekends and evenings. I am completely available on weekends and limited during the week. I live in a pet friendly apartment complex. I can crate your pet if needed. I am a highly active individual, who looks forward to many walks around the neighborhood with your pet.

For my personal assessment please provide a list of those tasks as well as any other pets that may need caring for. BIO I have been a pet owner since I was a kid and have always been helping neighbors with their pets by walking their dogs for the elderly neighbors, caring for bunnies or cats and helping brush horses and moving them to pasture in my neighborhood growing up in Germany. I have been a dog, cat, and chicken owner for a while, and we even have a rabbit, and adopted a leopard gecko at some point. I am also a wife, mom of 4 kids and enjoy home making/ and a lot of home steading here on our micro farm. Staying at home and being available to my kids is priority. I am luckily they share my love for animals. I am a long time U.S. resident (since 2007), and have been raised in Germany. My English is fluent, and I have been told that I don't have an accent anymore, so communicate is definitely not an issue. I would love to care for your little furry (or not so furry) pet, may it be checking in for a feed or potty break, overnight stay, or a relaxing or vigorous walk. I am looking forward to meeting you! I am stay at home mom and have a lot of flexibility when it comes to stepping out to visit your furry friend. All I ask is to have notice and be respectful of my time and schedule. And I will reciprocate this of course! I am flexible and cater to anybody's unique needs. As long as I have ample notice and frequent communication. I am happy to send pictures and text messages during a visit/feeding if so desired. Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.

“Stephen and Cece were phenomenal! With an anxious dog, it can sometimes be difficult when leaving your fur baby behind. There were numerous updates throughout the day, with pictures and I felt that Lady was left in great hands! Stephen even suggested a trial run, prior to our expected drop off day, which was a phenomenal idea. They cared for Lady as if she were their own and I couldn't recommend them more!”

“My lab Oliver spent 4 nights with Michele where it felt like home for him. He hit the jackpot with all the fun (especially the pool 😄) and made friends with both of Michele’s dogs. He was so well taken care of and I often got updates/pics on how he was doing. I highly recommend Michele. Your fur baby will most certainly be in the best hands. Oliver already can’t wait for his next stay 🐾”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - South Pond
Patricia was wonderful. I had just moved to a new home and Lincoln was still trying to adjust. She was very attuned to his needs, walked him and exercised him a lot and gave him much needed cuddles and reassurance. She took great care of the house, was neat and clean and considerate. I highly recommend.

Patricia was so gracious to respond to my last minute request to take care of my Bichon for the day. He is a bit sensitive and slow to trust new people, but had no trouble going with her. Fortunately Patricia understands dogs; she let him nap by himself and waited for him to come to her. I will certainly use her again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their South Pond home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your South Pond.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your South Pond sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
