This was my first time using Rover and leaving my two cats, Shadow and Luna, in the care of a sitter. Meegan was terrific and took excellent care of my furry babies, sending me regular updates and photos. She did two drop-in visits per day for 6 days. When Meegan came for our first meet and greet, Luna who is normally timid came right out to say hello. On the second meet and greet, Luna plopped down and offered up her belly for a rub, which I took as an excellent sign! Meegan remembered every Instructions I gave from one meet and greet visit to the next, and asked probing questions to make sure she knew all she needed to care for my cats. When I got home from my trip, the two litter boxes had visibly been scooped and refilled, the water bowls were filled, and my cats seemed happy and content with no indication of separation anxiety. Meegan is punctual, professional, friendly and obviously an animal lover. I would absolutely use her services again, and highly recommend her. Rover also made it very easy to communicate.

Aliya was very conscientious and attentive to the kitties. She was here every day, checked on the cats, fed them and checked their litter boxes. We would definitely have Aliya cat sit for our babies again in the future.

About: Growing up, I had a Lab and then a Boxer and two cats. I've also helped my aunt at the doggie daycare she runs out of her home where she often has more than 10 dogs at a time. Everything from a Great Pyrenees to German Shepherds to Doodles to Yorkies. And it's always so much fun! The care I'll give your pets will really depend on them and their needs. There's a very large unfenced grass area behind my apartment building that would be perfect for walks or play. And there are multiple parks in the area too we could explore. At yours, I'd keep whatever their normal routine is. Whether that's taking walks, throwing the ball or just sitting and chilling and scratching butts. Their butts of course! Rachel was so kind and patient with our very anxious dog. We were visiting the area and hoped for some drop-in visits to our Airbnb, but unfortunately our dog was so stressed from the travel that she was very reactive. While the job didn’t pan out as we hoped, Rachel was understanding and non-judgmental, which we really appreciated! She clearly understands dogs well.

About: I grew up around animals, from birds and hermit crabs to cats and dogs, my household has always been filled with pets. I have also fostered medically fragile dogs and volunteered at the Westchester Humane Society. I am passionate about ensuring all animals receive the best possible care and I will give your pet the same love I give my own. I currently work part time and I’m a full time grad student, but I have my own transportation so my schedule is open and flexible. I will schedule a meet and greet with you and your pet to learn all about their unique quirks, likes, dislikes, and routines prior to beginning services with them. I ensure a safe environment by using non-retractable leashes on walks and will send you updates while I am with your pet. Your pet's safety is my top priority.

Ebony is a lifesaver!!! Took care of our four pets for 3 days super super last minute — she is super communicative, sends pictures often, and took our dogs on a walk daily. I have a kitten and she took special care of him. Took extra time to make sure each pet felt comfy with her. She’s our go-to sitter now!

Steve was great with Miss Hazel. He was timely and attentive to her. Followed our instructions well and gave us lots of updates. In fact when we came home, she expected him to be there. When she didn’t see him, she went looking for him all over the house! We were only gone 2 days and already she loved him! Thanks for the peace of mind while we were away from our girl!

About: I’ve been around animals my entire life and have hands-on experience caring for a variety of pets, including dogs, bunnies, and birds. Growing up with different types of animals taught me how to adapt to each pet’s unique personality, needs, and routines. I’m comfortable with everything from energetic dogs who need structured walks and play, to smaller animals that require gentle handling and consistency. I pay close attention to behavior, appetite, and mood to make sure every pet is happy, healthy, and comfortable. I currently have open availability, which allows me to be flexible and fully accommodate your pet’s routine. Whether your pet needs early morning visits, midday check-ins, or evening care, I can adjust my schedule to fit their needs. Because I’m not rushing between commitments, I’m able to give each pet focused, unhurried attention during every visit. I care for pets in their own home, where they feel most safe and comfortable. My approach is always needs-based, meaning I follow your pet’s routine closely and adjust to their personality. whether they need lots of interaction or a calm, low-key presence.

About: Ever since I was young, I have had a strong love for animals, especially dogs. I grew up surrounded by dogs and currently have two of my own. Over the years, I have pet-sat for neighbors and friends, and I always enjoy caring for and spending time with their pets. At college I am part of a club where we work with and volunteer at the local animal shelters. There are photos on my profile that highlight some of the events on campus I have volunteered at to raise money for the puppies at the local animal shelter. I do also have experience with horses. My experience has strengthened my passion for working with animals and reinforced my commitment to providing them with attentive, compassionate care. I currently have a lot of availability to be able to take care of your pets. I can board and attend to your pets any day of the week. I have a fenced-in backyard and two dogs of my own as well. I have a 10-month-old male English Bulldog and a 3-year-old female French Bulldog. They are both very friendly and love playing with other dogs. At your residence, I will respect any boundaries you may have and provide the best service I can.

Meegan went above and beyond helping me with the cats and even put seed in the feeders for the birds and even looked out for the wild lame turkey that I have been feeding for the past five years. I would recommend her highly to anyone who needs someone to take care of her animals. She's friendly, reliable, and extremely helpful.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in South Kent. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
