“My mini Doxie is definitely anxious and sensitive and I always feel nervous leaving him with someone. Not only was Beans comfortable but I was made to feel confident with all the pictures and videos throughout the stay! Would definitely use Yaqi again!”
“I have booked with Michelle twice for my dog Bear and have been very happy with her professionalism and how she treats my beloved pet. I would highly recommend as I plan to book with her again.”
“Julie and Mark were fantastic! They kept in touch with us and were flexible and accommodating when we had a travel delay and needed additional help. Highly recommend! 💯”
“We hired Judith to watch my 12 year old dog in her home. My dog seemed to really enjoy her stay and I felt very comfortable leaving my dog with her. Judith provided twice a day updates which I really enjoyed! She verified with me before I left that twice a day updates would be appropriate which I appreciated too. I would definitely recommend Judith! You can really tell she genuinely cares about dogs. :)”
“Simba had a great time with Allis Im sure he will miss being over there. Allis is a great sitter, sends videos and pictures throughout stay and you can tell she truly cares about your pet as if her own. Definitely recommend her and will be booking with her in future.”
“We left our 5-month-old Sheepoo with this sitter for the first time while we were away on a weekend trip, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. Communication was excellent from the start—the sitter was always quick to respond and kept us updated regularly. Most importantly, it was clear how much they genuinely cared for and loved our puppy, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. Before his stay, our puppy was very hesitant during walks and would often get scared by passing cars. To our surprise, after spending time with this sitter, he became much more confident and comfortable on walks. We were amazed by the improvement. Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of our pup. We truly appreciate everything you did and would absolutely book with you again!”
“Roberto and his family welcomed my dog to his family who are all dog lovers. He was well cared for and enjoyed his time with them. Would confidently recommend Roberto.”
“Jessica is fantastic! She took our pup to the park and on her errands which made him very happy. Very communicative too the entire time with photos and videos. And she takes excellent photos to boot!”
“Our dog had a awesome stay. He was treated like a king, he had normal walks, and free roaming in backyard for potty breaks when needed. We recieved fun pictures every day when we were gone. Highly recommended.”
About: As a long time animal owner and lover, I'll always take care of your pet like they're my own. It's so important to me that you feel safe when you leave your fur baby in somebody else's care. I also have lots of experience with dog breeds with varying behavioral issues - from terrified chihuahuas to leash reactive german shepherds, horses, fish, and tons of lil guys inbetween. Whether it’s a drop in, walk, or overnight boarding, We’ll work together to make sure your pets needs are 110% met. 🫶🏻 I work from home on a decently flexible schedule so nobody is getting left alone for hours. We also have a gorgeous fenced-in backyard for roaming and play and are close to trails so dogs can go to the forest preserve with us if they'd like for extra nature time. 🌲 I currently work completely remote so my schedule is highly flexible and I’m happy to accommodate your needs or come keep some company for a while. During drop ins, I'm always happy to refill water bowls, feed, walk, play, cuddle, and whatever is needed to make sure your pet stays stimulated and has some trusted company while you're away.
“They took good care of our Lucas. It was a last minute booking and they accomodate all our change request. Luca had a good time and i can say that from the photos they send.”
“Thomas is an amazing sitter, and communicating with him is very smooth. He sends me photos of my dog and keeps me updated on how he's doing. He was very patient waiting for me before I picked up Echo. I will continue to use him as a sitter in the future.”
“Lucy had a great time with Dave! Dave sent us pictures of her playing with Roxy. Lucy is very energetic and Dave worked with her well. She was a spoiled girl while with him. I would definitely use Dave and Rover.com again. Thanks for a great experience!”
About: I know how to make dogs comfortable and make them feel like they’re being taken care of well. Lots of treats they get from me I am free to watch dogs a lot during each day of the week. Any time of the day works for me as well to watch them I have a fenced in yard. I keep my basement closed so no dogs can go down there. Mostly on the main floor with me.
“Valentina was very responsive with us in answering questions, being flexible, and hosting a video call. We also needed to add a few days after our initial booking, which she was flexible in adding. We also received a picture of our dog every day which helped while we missed her dearly! 🥲”
“They did an awesome job handling our young pups! One is rambunctious and the other a fearful rescue. This was our first time leaving them anywhere overnight and Kimberly went above and beyond to make it a success. Thanks for taking care of them!”
“We would highly recommend Shalyn and Joe to anyone looking to have their dog looked after. They responded promptly to any concerns we had and we received daily photos and updates on how our Pixie was doing.”
Dog parents share their Rover experiences - South Barrington
Maya was a great sitter for our corgi while we went out of town! She provided daily updates, let us know any changes or silly behavior, and was very patient with our pup. She was even able to apply some medicinal spray to his paws daily for his allergies which isn’t easy to do because he doesn’t always cooperate. When we picked him up after his stay, he ran back to say goodbye to her before leaving to go home! We would definitely leave him with her again.
I have used a handful of sitters for boarding and Shelby was my favorite. I found her last minute and was so relieved to find someone I can leave my girls with that I felt completely comfortable with. she was completely flexible with my schedule with my flight being delayed and pushing my pickup time to very late. Lots of pictures and updates made me so happy.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their South Barrington home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your South Barrington.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your South Barrington sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
