“Rachel did a great job housesitting our 14 year old beagle! Belle was relaxed and happy when we returned home, and the house was clean. I would definitely recommend Rachel to friends/family :-)”

“I’ve never left my 2 dogs with just anyone ever. They’re both 11 years old. Meet Sierra…….who I couldn’t have asked for better to care for my 2 special needs dogs(diabetics). Knowing my boys were well cared for made our trip that much more enjoyable. We’ll definitely be rebooking for future vacations.”

“Amazing yet again. Would highly recommend and rely on Dominique time and time again as my pup seems to be obsessed with him! Also took great care of my house and stayed up to date with everything and pics!”

“Jordan stayed at our house for 5 days while we were on vacation. She did a great job taking care of the house and all our critters. Everyone was in excellent hands and we could breathe easier while being away from home!”

“Bailey took great care of our large menagerie. The dogs snuggled with her and the cats did cat things. We came home and everyone appeared happy and healthy and not terrible upset with our absence. Will book with Bailey again for future stays.”
“Timothy responded so quickly and really helped us when our other booking had to unexpectedly be cut short! He was very professional and was very communicative through the entire booking and sent so many pictures and updates, which we loved! He really was able to help us enjoy the rest of our trip by giving us a peace of mind with how well our pets were taken care of!”

“This is the first time we had Joy come and stay with our dogs while we were out of the country. First of all she was available to stay at our house through Christmas Day. When she came to meet the dogs, Waldo, our reserved Australian shepherd, jumped up in her lap. She was great at communicating and sent lots of pictures. The dogs were happy to see us when we got home but the JRT kept looking for her in the guest room. She washed towels and sheets and remade the bed! We will definitely use Joy again. Pretty much perfect Rover experience.”

“We were in town for work and really wanted to bring our 16 weeknold Cavapoo with us as we just adopted him. We reached out to Ashley before arriving in San Antonio to ensure she had availability. We read reviews of various sitters and decided on Ashley. Upon I still contact right up to picking up our fur son, we felt comfortable. She was very accommodating and had a wonderful vide from initial contact up to when we picked up our puppy. We definitely will use her again if we are in town again. If she lived by us, we would hire her a a lot!”

“Our second time using Laurie and she was awesome again. We got an email about a possible water leak and she was able to investigate and check all the important areas for us. Very responsive! Thank you again for taking care of our pups and house!”

“Ashleigh was amazing and kept me stress free while on vacation. I came home the dogs were happy, she checked the mail, and house was clean. Couldn’t have asked for better. Won’t use anyone else but her.”

“This is now the third time we have used Shawnette to take care of our dogs while we were out of town and couldn’t be more pleased with her and her care. We were gone for 10 days this time and she took incredible care of our dogs and even won over our very shy girl. We will absolutely book with her again!”

He followed every instruction to the letter, kept the house clean, and made sure the pups were fed and rotated with the mom just like we planned. About: I've loved animals all of my life and have experience caring for a variety of pets of different ages, sizes, personalities, and needs. I understand how much trust it takes to leave your pet in someone else's care, so I am patient, responsible, and attentive to each pet's individual routine. I am comfortable following specific instructions for feeding, exercise, playtime, and providing plenty of affection and attention. I believe every pet deserves to feel safe and comfortable while their owner is away, and I will treat your furry family member with the same care and respect I would want for my own pets. I am a full-time student, but 5 out of 6 of my classes are online, so my schedule is very flexible and can accommodate client needs. I have a class on Tuesday and Thursdays in the afternoon, but otherwise I am free. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize maintaining their normal routine and creating a safe, comfortable environment. I will carefully follow all instructions regarding feeding, walks, medications if applicable, playtime, and any specific needs or preferences. I understand that every pet is different, so I will take the time to learn their personality and ensure they feel comfortable while their owner is away. I will also treat your home with respect, keep the space clean, and provide regular updates so you can feel confident that your pet is safe and well cared for.
“Abigail was a wonderful house/dog sitter for our family. She handled our grumpy, older border collie and our playful, energetic lab very well. She was very attentive to their feeding schedule and we really felt at ease with her staying at our house and taking care of our animals (even the tortoise)! She provided updates daily and was very professional during the initial meet and greet. We will definitely be using her services again.”

“This was ourfirst experience with Rover and we could not have been more pleased with Madison! She cared for our pets as if they were her own. Prior to her visit, we had a vet emergency and explained the issue and asked her to keep an extra eye out him. Well our pet had the issue come up while away and Madison did such a great job notifying immediately and took to the vet to receive the medical attention. In addition, during her visit, she sent updates on all the other pets. I highly recommend Madison!!”

“Andres (Andrew) was absolutely outstanding! He was so great with our Bulldog, Rex. He went above and beyond each day, sending us lots of pictures and videos of Rex eating, playing, and resting. 😊 When we returned, Rex was happy and our home was tidy! We are very happy with Andrew and the wonderful care he provided for Rex. 100% recommend him!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 1,412 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Somerset. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Somerset walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Somerset maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Somerset choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Somerset. On Rover:
- 87% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
