“We could not ask for a better dog sitter for our good boy! Elisabeth is truly a little dog whisperer—so caring, patient, and incredibly attentive to every detail. From the moment I met her, it was clear how much she genuinely loves dogs and understands their individual personalities and needs. She keeps us updated with lots of adorable photos and makes sure our dog felt completely at home, relaxed, and loved. The fun adventures she took them on made it feel like a real doggy vacation, not just a stay. Our dog comes home happy, calm, and clearly well cared for. It gives us total peace of mind to know our pup is in such loving and capable hands. We will 100% continue to book with Elisabeth again and recommend her to anyone looking for an exceptional sitter! 🐾💛”

About: New to Rover but not new to caring for animals! I grew up on a farm with lots of animals - dogs, cats, goats, horses, rabbits, chickens, pigs... I've also informally pet sat for friends and neighbors with dogs and/or cats in the past. I've been a cat mom in the past, but I don't have a pet of my own right now. For dog walking, my work from home job allows me some flexibility to stop by and take your pup for a stroll! I can do earlier mornings, a lunch time walk on some days, and evening walks after 5pm. For doggy daycare, I work from home full time at a desk job - if my day is "busy" it just means I had a few more zoom calls than usual. I would absolutely be able to take time to provide potty breaks and maybe a walk around the neighborhood when the weather is good. I live on a main street in town, but there's also a nice quiet neighborhood right behind me with minimal traffic, perfect for a quick walk. I do travel three or four times a year for my job, generally for 3-5 days each time, but I'd be able to give you at least a couple of months advanced notice for those trips - they are never last minute! For doggy daycare, I don't smoke and I have plenty of space for your pup to hang out during the day so they don't feel cooped up - including a wrap around enclosed porch that I can keep secure, and a tall privacy-fenced back yard/garden area. While the yard is fenced, I do get birds and other critters roaming through, and I have a flower garden that could have some toxic plants for over-curious dogs. Because of that, I would not to leave them alone outside, but take those breaks with them. My house does have a fairly steep flight of stairs, so a dog without joint pain or struggles going up and down multiple times a day would be most comfortable. I do have lots of houseplants and some could be toxic - so again, if your dog tends to be curious and take a bite out of plants, I may not be the best fit for you.

“Christina was simply amazing! I needed boarding on an emergency basis and she was able to fit me into her schedule with prompt and thorough communication. My dog Lupo usually takes a bit to warm up to strangers and can be reactive when afraid; someone who is overly gushy and touchy-feely immediately upon meeting would be Lupo's idea of a nightmare. Christina listened to my suggestions and respected Lupo's space as I let her out of the car. But Lupo decided immediately that Christina was not just a friend, but a BEST friend. Lupo literally ran up and hugged Christina within minutes of meeting her. This is not typical Lupo behavior so I knew Lupo was in good hands. Christina kept me posted with pictures and updates, and I could tell Lupo was comfortable and relaxed and most importantly HAPPY. I would not hesitate to book again with Christina. She is a gem!”

About: My parents have 2 Australian Blue Heelers who are 8 and 9 months old, and I’ve dog sat for friends and family for over 10 years. I’m comfortable with dogs of all sizes and ages, including ones with health conditions. I’m currently working a hybrid schedule, so i work from home Mondays and some Fridays. During the week I can happily come during my lunch break to walk/drop in on your pups! I have flexibility in when I take it, but do have to limit the walks/drop ins to 30 mins so I can get back in time. Depending on when you’re looking for walks/boarding, I’m almost always available! There currently aren’t other dogs at my house, so my attention is completely on your pets! We live in a friendly neighborhood for walks, which is perfect for my outdoorsy self and your pups.

Although my boys are somewhat trained and are good with other dogs and kids, not everyone is willing to watch two Huskies! She also showed good care and is knowledgeable of training. About: Animals have always been an important part of my life. I grew up with a cat who was much more than a pet—because I didn’t have any brothers or sisters, she was my best friend and constant companion. Later, after meeting my husband, who had a dog, I discovered how much joy dogs bring and how different, fun, and rewarding it is to spend time with them. Now that my own children are older and more independent, I finally have some time to do something I’ve wanted for a while: care for other people’s dogs. Spending time with animals truly makes me happy, and I would love to give your dog the same love, attention, and care that I would give my own. I’ve looked after dogs in my home and understand that every pet is unique. Some dogs love long walks and playtime, while others just want a quiet companion nearby. I’ll happily follow your dog’s routine and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. What really sets me apart is how much I genuinely care. I pay close attention to the little details, carefully follow your instructions, and treat every pet like family. I’ll also send regular photos and updates, so you’ll always know your furry friend is happy and well cared for. I currently work part-time, which gives me plenty of time to care for your pet. I’m available for afternoon walks during the week, as well as boarding. Your dog will have regular potty breaks, walks, playtime, and lots of attention throughout the day. I always do my best to follow your pet’s usual schedule, so they feel comfortable and at home while you’re away. My home is a safe, pet-friendly environment where dogs are treated like part of the family. They will have plenty of attention, regular potty breaks, walks, playtime, and a cozy place to rest. . My children are older. They’re gentle and respectful, and they’ll happily play with your dog if that’s something your dog enjoys. I’ll also send regular photo updates, so you’ll always know your pet is happy and well cared for.

About: I’ve been taking care of animals since I was a kid. I’m mainly experienced in caring for cats and dogs, but also farm animals and smaller pets like gerbils. I’m hoping to make this a full time job as I love being with animals. My schedule is wide open to meet all your pets needs. My spacious home is in a quiet suburban neighborhood with an open field just down the road. I have 2 friendly cats, however visiting pets could be separated as needed.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.

Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.

During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Shapleigh home-away-from-home, packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
  • Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Shapleigh.

<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.

You and your Shapleigh sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in ME ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
