“Lisa went above and beyond to meet the needs of our quirky, nearly identical cats. One is shy and hides, the other is a food hound that receives a daily medication. Lisa sent helpful updates throughout our trip and really took her time to manage their needs. I hope she’ll be available every time we go out of town!”

“John has been great with Toby. He’s reliable, pays close attention to the details, and takes good care of him during drop-in visits for feeding and potty breaks. Toby is always happy to see him. I feel very comfortable having John care for him and would definitely recommend him.”

“Alexandra took excellent care of our two cats while we were away, taking time to get to know them and play with them each visit. We were thrilled they were in such good hands and will definitely ask Alexandra to help us again.”

“I am a new Rover user and was nervous about entrusting my 8-month-old puppy to someone I didn't know. But Samantha exceeded expectations in many ways! She clearly loves dogs and was excited to meet my Yogi. She gave him a wonderful walk, made sure he had plenty of water, and even adjusted her schedule to meet our preferred timeline. Yogi was happy as a clam when we got home, and we are thrilled that we now have a reliable sitter to call for future needs.”

About: I’ve grown up with a labrador retriever who quickly became my live-in best bud! I’ve adored animals ever since. I’ve helped neighbors/friends watch over their dogs/cats and homes, short-term and extended periods of time, either stopping by throughout the day to care for the pet or living in the home while their owners are away. I also have experience caring for an elderly and newly blind dog, and understand each pet has specific needs and care, plus consistency in routine is important when their owners are away from them. I am currently looking for a full/part-time job and am in between jobs right now, so I have a lot of time flexibility in a day-to-day while I am job searching. I care for others pets the same way I’d care for my dog, Mackie. Plenty of quality time, walks and meals based on their usually routine, playtime outside in the mornings and/or afternoon.
“Patrícia was great! It was our first time having a rover sitter in our new house so our cat was a little scared but Patrícia handled it well. We absolutely trust her with our pet and property! Thanks!”

“Sonia did a great job with Scout on her drop-in visit. She sent us a photo as well as their walk path and made us feel reassured that he was happy. I would definitely use Sonia again!”

About: As the owner of three dogs, I understand how important it is to have someone you can trust with your pets. I’m reliable, patient, and will care for your dog like one of my own, making sure they feel safe, loved, and well cared for while you’re away. I currently work at a hospital 3 days a week so I’m available . I’m also an empty nester so I have time in my schedule . I follow each pet’s routine, provide fresh food and water, daily walks, playtime, lots of attention, and ensure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. ..
About: I’m patient, reliable, and truly care about every dog I walk. I pay attention to their behavior, energy, and comfort so they feel safe and happy. I follow instructions closely and treat every dog like my own. I’m available for pet care in the afternoons after 3pm on weekdays, as well as all day on weekends. I offer walks, drop-ins, and boarding when you’re away on vacation. I always prioritize safety, trust, and comfort. In my care, pets are supervised, kept on their routine, and treated gently and patiently. In a client’s home, I respect their space and follow all instructions carefully to make sure the pet feels secure and comfortable.
“Sarah was an excellent sitter for my shy cat while I was away for a couple of days. She came over to meet him and learn the ropes, took care feeding him and cleaning up after him, and was perfectly communicative and trustworthy. I knew he was in good hands the whole time I was gone. Thank you Sarah!”

About: I have taken care of a wide variety of dogs from yorkies to labs to rescued pups. Ever since I was in 5th grade I have taken care of neighborhood, family, and friends dogs. I have done just about about everything under the sun when it comes to caring for pups, including walks, feeding, play time, and overnight stays. I also volunteer at a dog shelter a couple times a week and help them walk their dogs. It is always the highlight of my week! I have always loved animals, especially dogs. I have grown up with a dog and hope to one day rescue a couple when I have the means. But for now I promise to treat your pups as my own. and don’t worry I will be sure to send plenty of pics of our time together while you are away :) I am currently a business owner doing massage therapy for race car teams. I travel often but when I’m home I have a lot of free time to take care of pups and train at LifeTime! I am usually home every Monday-Wednesday and then rest of the week depends on my race schedule. I live in north Stamford near waveny park in New Canaan. When I watch my family dog at home I always make sure there is fresh water out and I know his whereabouts at all times.
About: I have taken care of friends and family pets over the course of this year some long-term and some short term. Frequent dog park visits and timely feedings. I can accommodate all types of diets, raw kibble, and specialty foods. I currently work full-time however I have a rotating schedule so I can often pet sit and drop in weekdays if needed and weekends. I am off in the mornings so drop and visits are easy for people who work 9 to 5 and just want their dog to have some extra time out or to just check in on the cats. There is an option of having your pet here in my space all to themselves or with my personal pets. I have different options of sleeping accommodations for your pet cage, cot and cushioned. Though I do not have a fenced in yard, I have a dog park in my complex as well as a dog park 4 minutes away by car. I can accommodate all diets, including raw diet.
“Pam was so great with our two kitties while we were away. She was on time every day and we truly appreciated the extra steps she took like vacuuming and offering to take out the trash. Would definitely book again. Thanks!”

About: I treat all animals as my own. How I’d want my pet treated is how I operate. My pet is treated with respect, integrity, love, and care. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and messages so you always know your pet is happy and in good hands. I treat every pet like they’re part of my own family. I’m currently part time working! Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because animals are a big part of my life. I make time each day for feeding, playtime, walks, attention, and making sure pets feel comfortable and cared for. Since I have two cats of my own, I understand the importance of keeping a consistent routine and providing companionship, even when owners are away. I’m able to incorporate pet care into my schedule by dedicating time for visits, walks, check-ins, and giving each pet the attention they need. I enjoy spending time with animals and love being able to provide reliable, loving care for pets and peace of mind for their owners. I care for pets by creating a safe, comfortable, and loving environment while respecting their normal routines. In a client’s home, I make sure to follow their instructions closely, including feeding schedules, medications, playtime, walks, and any special needs their pet may have. I understand that pets feel most comfortable when their routines stay consistent, so I do my best to make the experience as stress-free as possible. If caring for pets in my own home, I provide a clean, calm space where they can feel comfortable and receive plenty of attention, affection, and care. Whether at my home or a client’s, I treat every pet like they are my own and make sure they feel safe and loved.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Scotts Corners
Julia is a superb pet sitter. We were travelling out of the country leaving behind our 3 highly pampered cats, the eldest of which is 18 years old. She took beautiful care of them, twice a day, and kept us posted with updates and pictures. She cleaned up after them, brushed them, changed the litter and food, and got rid of the garbage just as I had instructed. The house smelled fresh and was clean when we got back. I could not ask for a better pet sitter. Her care made our vacation much more relaxed. The cats were happy too.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
