“Chandrika was amazing! She handled our two large dogs wonderfully. She communicated with us and sent lots of pictures. Our older dog just started pain meds to treat an unknown pain source and she did a good job of keeping us informed of how she was doing. The dogs were happy and healthy when we returned home!!”

“Great sitter for my disabled dog. It is very difficult to find people willing to take on my blind toothless little poodle. Lee did and made her a part of the family. I did not have to worry at all.”

“Anna was absolutely amazing. She was communicative, really cared about what was best for the cats, and did everything she could to make sure they were as comfortable as possible. It's so great that we found a sitter here in Gainesville that we can trust to take care of our kitties properly while we're away.”

“Riley stayed with my dogs for boarding at my place. I came home to two happy pups. Riley was easy to communicate with, left the space tidy, and kept me updated. Would definitely book again!”

“We were very happy with the care Kat gave Harley. She kept us informed as how he was doing and sent pictures so we knew he was doing okay. We would recommend her to other potential pet parents.”

“Desiree was fantastic! She was professional, reliable, and communicated with us throughout our trip with frequent updates and lots of great pictures, which gave us real peace of mind. She also brought in our packages, kept our home exceptionally clean, and took wonderful care of our dogs. We came home to happy pups and a spotless house. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with Desiree again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter.”

“Katherine was an excellent pet sitter! She was communicative, caring, and clearly very loving with our dogs. And cats! She made sure they were well cared for and walked regularly. We felt completely comfortable having her look after them and will definitely hire her again!”

About: My family had dogs for the majority of my life, and I was often the one tasked of taking care of them. I bathed, fed, took them to the vet, and walked them. They were all elderly dogs, so they have sadly passed away. Their names were Peanut, Waddlesworth, and Snickers. I’m currently a proud cat owner (or her servant, if you ask her) of Luna. I found her under my car when she was a kitten 3 years ago and she’s been with me since. Currently working a summer temp job at the University of Florida, but that will end at the start of September. My schedule is flexible outside of classes, which are for just over an hour a day Monday thru Thursday. I can cater my caretaking skills to your needs. Whether your dog needs walks every hour or twice a day, I can do it all.

Friends and family have also trusted me to care for their pets while they’re away. I’m responsible, attentive, and will make sure your pet gets plenty of love and attention while in my care! I’m currently a college student taking online classes, which gives me a very flexible schedule and plenty of time to care for your pets! I’m available throughout the week and on weekends for walks, drop-ins, playtime, and pet sitting. Since my classes are online, I can easily work around your pet’s normal routine and make sure they get plenty of attention and care throughout the day. I always make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their owners are away. I’ll follow any instructions you provide, including feeding schedules, walks, medications, and other routines. About: I have been a dog owner for the majority of my life and have provided reliable care to my friends’ pets for about 5 years. I have experience caring for puppies as well as multiple animals at once. I am a student at the University of Florida, but I have a mostly open schedule. I’m available all day on weekends, every weekday morning before 10 AM, after 11:30 AM every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and after 5 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I plan to maintain a safe environment for any animal, and I will cater the experience to each pet and their individual needs. It is important to me that your pet feels as comfortable as possible, whether that be in your home or mine. About: Hey! My name is Dylan, and throughout all my years of life I have always been around dogs. My parents always had one, and as an adult I have owned and trained multiple. Being around them has given me lots of experience on care, play, and training, and I love hanging out with them! I'm currently self employed and am available all days of the week! My schedule is very flexible and can meet your pup's needs I can easily crate your pup when needed, I can administer medications if your dog or cat is currently taking them, and I am more than happy to follow any special instructions you may have!
About: I’ve spent my life around animals and have cared for dogs, cats, horses, and reptiles both personally and professionally. I have 8 years of hands-on experience as a veterinary technician and am currently a 4th-year veterinary student, with just 10 months until graduation. My experience includes general practice, urgent care, emergency medicine, shelter medicine, rescue work, and some exotic animal care. Over the years, I’ve cared for animals of all shapes, sizes, and personalities, including senior, anxious, reactive, special-needs, and medically complicated pets. I’m comfortable administering medications, including injections when needed, and have extensive experience recognizing changes in behavior or health that may indicate something is wrong. I also have a reactive bully breed of my own, so I understand firsthand that every dog has a unique personality and comfort level. I’m patient, attentive, and happy to work with each pet at their own pace. Whether your pet needs a fun walk, some extra playtime, medication, or simply some company while you’re away, my goal is to make them feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. I’m happy to provide dog walks, drop-in visits, and daytime pet sitting, including extended visits of an hour or two when your pet needs more attention. I’m also happy to make multiple visits throughout the day when needed. I do not currently offer overnight stays. As a 4th-year veterinary student, my schedule varies throughout the year, but I’m intentional about making time for pet care. I enjoy getting outside for dog walks and spending time with animals, so Rover is something I genuinely enjoy doing rather than simply fitting in when I have free time. I care for every pet according to their individual routine, personality, and needs. Before each booking, I like to learn about their normal feeding schedule, exercise routine, medications, favorite activities, and any behaviors or special considerations I should know about. During visits, I make sure pets receive plenty of attention, exercise, enrichment, and affection while keeping their normal routine as consistent as possible. I’m comfortable administering medications, including injections when needed, and my veterinary background allows me to be especially attentive to changes in behavior, appetite, or overall health. I’m happy to provide dog walks, drop-in visits, and extended daytime pet sitting, and I’m comfortable making multiple visits throughout the day when a pet needs more frequent care. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and messages so you know how your pet is doing while you’re away. Most importantly, I treat every home and every pet with the same care and respect I would want for my own.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 451 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Santa Fe. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Santa Fe walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Santa Fe maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Santa Fe choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Santa Fe. On Rover:

- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
