“Morgan was absolutely amazing. She sends adorable pictures and videos consistently. This was my first time having a non family member take care of our dogs so it was nerve wracking but Morgan gave us so much piece of mind. My skittish chihuahua dachshund (who typically takes days to get used to people) climbed right in her lap! She was also wonderful to our elderly 3 legged dog! I 100% recommend her and she is now out go to sitter!”

“Savannah is an absolute gem! She recently took care of our 3 pups and our home while we spent a week at the beach, and she went above and beyond! She made sure we were updated on how the pups were doing and actively looked for ways to help us around our home to make our return so much easier. Our pups were so happy when we came home, we could tell they received so much TLC. Highly recommend!”

“Usually when I have to board my pets, I come back and they are sullen and wont ea. This time, they were happy, and resumed normal behavior as if I hadn’t left them. Thank you for making them feel better. I would like to continue using this gentleman when I have to travel.”

“Zoe was great with our dogs and staying at our house while we were in Florida for 5 nights! The dogs loved her, she was great with communication and arrived promptly on time. Thank you for caring for Georgia and Mickey, we will definitely be booking with you again!”

“Alison is awesome! This was our first time using Rover. We have 2 big dogs that are high energy. During our meet-and-greet, we could tell Alison was comfortable with their size and energy. She answered all of our questions and we felt good making the decision to choose her as our sitter. We came home to happy pups and our home was just as we left it. Will definitely book Alison again!”

“Mia was amazing. Her communication was so consistent that I always knew what was going on with our pup and she even sent pictures. It was so nice k owing she was taken care of by a caring person!”

About: I’ve always had a deep love for animals, a kind of unconditional love and acceptance that feels safe and comforting. That passion shaped my approach to pet care. I worked towards a career that focuses on caring for wildlife and animals as a whole. My experience includes volunteering at shelters and humane societies, where I walked, socialized, and bathed dogs, as well as cared for puppies and their mothers. I A unique part of my background includes working as a “goat whisperer” at a goat yoga farm, giving me experience with a variety of animals. So not only can I wrap your pup in loving energy, but I can take care of your Kid too! As a recent college graduate, I have plenty of free time during the week and on weekends, which allows me to be fully available for your pet’s needs. My schedule is flexible, so I can easily adapt to whatever routine works best for you and your pet. I provide a safe and comfortable environment for pets, whether in my home or yours. In my household, I care for an 8-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, which has given me experience with high-energy, anxious, and senior dogs. I tailor each pet’s care to their specific needs, ensuring their time spent is worthwhile.
“After my regular sitter cancelled because of family issues I was lucky to find Ariel. She came before the days I needed for a meet n greet. Both of my Boys were fighting over her attention as soon as she got here. I will definitely use her again. My boys are spoiled and love cuddle time. One is a “talker” and she sis great with both.”

“Shannon was great! I need someone in a very short amount of time and she was able to make it happen. Easy to get in touch with communication is outstanding. Our 2 goldens were loved on so much and very well taken care of while we were gone. Will definitely ask her to watch them again!!”

About: I think im good at reading animals, they communicate if you just look at signs like body language, temperament, habits. I think the biggest thing is just patience. My schedule varies im just trying to put in where i can fit things in ya know what i mean? If supply meets demand then great! If there in my home, my biggest concern is making sure they cant eat anything there not supposed to eat make sure they cant chew on any wires either.
“Jill was amazing! She took such great care of our home and our doodle, Gumbo. He absolutely loved her! She kept us updated with photos and messages, and we could tell he was happy and well cared for. We came home to a clean house and a very content pup. Highly recommend Jill — we’ll definitely be booking her again!”

About: For several years I took care of my friends dog Koda while living with my friend. My friend was busy in graduate school and working part time, so she asked me take care of Koda in the mornings and evenings when she could not make it home in time. That included walking Koda and feeding Koda. Those responsibilities grew to taking Koda to the vet when necessary. I learned a lot about dogs, and I am able to handle taking care of dogs. Safety is the most important thing when taking care of a dog. My schedule is flexible. I would prefer at least 2 days notice for scheduling purposes. I am available throughout the day seven days a week. I would ask the client what is important when taking care of a pet in their home. Does the pet have any allergies? Do they have any health problems I should be aware of?
About: I’ve had a dog my whole life from babies to full grown adults! We play, go on walks and hikes. Also always room for cuddles! I work from home most of the time, unless I am out on an appointment. My dog is usually roaming free and when I’m away, he is in the kennel. I live in an apartment home that has a dog park and a park less than two minutes away from me for a bigger and better environment to play.

“Desiré took good care of my puppy she was left alone at home sadly we forgot to refill her food container plus we temporarily lost the key so she was left with no security at home. I’m thankful I was able to find her and got a response immediately and came home fed her and took her for a 4 walks! Stayed 5 hrs while we were away. Thank you so much for your service!”

“Cristal and Edgar were so great. We were only able to do a meet and greet two days before service began, but they were ready and willing to help my nervous doggie feel loved and cared for. They also watched out for our two bunnies while we were away. They sent pics and provided updates frequently. I won’t hesitate to hire them again.”

“I can’t say enough about how great Dana was with my fur baby, Milan! She made Milan feel comfortable and loved. She communicated often about how things were going and made sure both I and Milan were comfortable. I’m very pleased with my first Rover experience here in a new city!”

“I booked Carson for housesitting and Carson was so wonderful with my dogs! We had to book last minute, and even though they never had the chance to get shown around they were perfect. They sent me so many pictures so I knew my dogs were well cared for. They were very professional for the whole stay. I will absolutely be booking him again!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rockbridge walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rockbridge maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rockbridge choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
