“Sara was a wonderful sitter for our dog, Murray! She was very communicative and responsive when we asked for updates. Murray was very comfortable with her. We’ll definitely ask her to sit for us again!”

About: I have been called Dr. Dolittle my entire life. I have a knack for connecting with animals of all kinds. My very first job was working at a local farm with all different types of animals like horses, goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, etc. It was one of my favorite jobs, I got lucky! I also worked at a dog boarding facility which gave me experience working with multiple dogs at once. I always give animals the space to have their specific personality and the respect they deserve, as I would treat a human. Animals are often misunderstood, I’ve always tried to meet them where they stand. If there is one thing I am confident in, it’s making an animal feel safe and comfortable. And they do the same for me :) I would love to meet your faithful friend and see if they find me worthy of a tail wag or a belly pet! I currently work a very flexible part-time job. I have a lot of availability and can be very flexible. Working with animals is more than a job to me, I very much enjoy it. I will find ways to work with you and your pets personal needs. I love to schedule a meet-up before providing pet care. This is just to see that we are all on the same page and everyone feels it's a good fit. I do not offer home services. I will travel to your home so your pet can be where they are most comfortable. I work around you and your pets comfort. As a pet owner myself, I understand it can be hard to leave your companions in someone else’s care. I want to do what it takes to make you feel 100% safe and at ease when leaving your furbabies in my care.
“Jason was fantastic with my pups. He was aware of how to interact with them, seemed to enjoy walking them, feed them as directed and walked them as requested. I am very happy and pups seem to be also.”

“Tara is great! We have used her twice now and hopefully she will always be available when i go out of town going forward. My dog loves her so much and misses her once she’s gone. She provides many updates and photos. It’s nice to have someone at home that I can trust and that my pets trust too!”

“Marcella's Mom, Ivana, took care of our dog Beau for a week while we were away. She is great. She's personable, responsible and proactive. She asked for instructions before hand, followed them and took very good care of Beau. She sent daily updates with pictures too. We will definitely ask if she is available if we need a dog sitter again.”

“Lucy is a gem and we are so happy to have found her! My elderly dog Simba has some medical needs and isn't your run-and-chase dog. Lucy took such great care of him both while we were out for the day as well as during an extended stay, giving him tons of love, tending to his medical needs, and keeping us informed with photos and texts throughout. She is sweet gentle and kind and enjoyable to have in our home. Even our guinea pig got lots of extra love. We will definitely be using her again.”
About: I am looking to add light to my life in spite of current events by helping others in my community and bonding with your fur babies! I'm free in the eavnings most days and fully available Mondays and Tuesdays. Schedules may be accommodated if reached out to 2 weeks in advance. I live with my mom and uncle who love dogs and we all guarantee to provide the highest quality of care. I have two cats who enjoy the outside in our yard and have come with us on fun adventures like camping trips. So they are very open to change.
“Marie was wonderful! She responded quickly, allowed us to book her stay last minute and made leaving our fur babies easy and peaceful. She's kind and thoughtful, everyone loved her. I would totally recommend Marie and her family!”

When my parents sold the house because of their split they split the dogs

About: I currently own two dogs a mini Australian Shepard and a cocker spaniel. But, my family is a huge dog loving family and I have also owned labs, retrievers, and collies. I have a fenced backyard with a doggy door that holds about an acre of land and I live on a very quiet road with hiking trails across from my house that I bring my dogs into all the time! I’m work 3 times a week at Ridgewood Country Club in Danbury. I can leave during my breaks to tend to your pets. If they are staying at my home I have a doggy door and fenced in backyard. And then the remainder of the week I am free! I have a doggy door inside my home with a fenced in backyard for the 3 days I can’t be at home all day long. All other days I would love to take the dogs hiking and make sure they have a great time! I do own two dogs that are very friendly. But they can also be seperated into my basement if other dog is not friends with them. I also have a lot of experience with cat sitting my neighbors cats.
“We couldn’t be happier with the care that Hailey provided to our cat, Max. This was our first time using Rover and we got lucky finding Hailey. We liked her when we met for the in-person interview. She did a fantastic job taking care of Max for the two weeks we were away. It gave us such peace of mind knowing that he was being well cared for and loved. She kept us updated with pictures of Max. Because of her, we were able to truly enjoy our vacation without worry. We are so grateful for her and will absolutely be reaching out again in the future. Highly recommend!”

About: I’ve been caring for animals for years and currently have two dogs and a hedgehog of my own 💗 Friends, family, and neighbors have trusted me to help with walks, feeding, check-ins, and giving their pets attention when they need it. I’m happy to keep pets active with walks and play or spend quiet time with pets who just want company 🤍 I treat every pet like they’re part of my own family 🐶🤍 I’m patient with nervous pets, comfortable caring for senior pets, and experienced with following specific routines. We highly recommend Nina A. for any pet care services. She house sat for eight nights, taking great care of our 11 year old dog, Apollo. Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Putnam Lake on Rover is $77.88 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Putnam Lake walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Putnam Lake maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Putnam Lake choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Putnam Lake. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
