“Mandi house sit while taking care of our 2 Boston Terriers. She was very respectful of the house and left it cleaner than when she arrived. One of our dogs can be fairly high maintenance and Mandi was able to adjust quickly and the dogs were very comfortable. We would definitely hire Mandi again.”

“Kelda took wonderful care of our two pups and our home. Our senior dog can be a bit grumpy but she connected with him very quickly. She did all that we asked of her, kept us up to date and treated our house with respected. We are very thankful to have found her.”

“Shelby did an amazing job. My GSD doesn’t always like new people but when Shelby arrived she ran to get her ball for play. Would definitely recommend Shelby for house/dog sitting.”

“Robin was absolutely wonderful and stepped in on very short notice to watch our dogs. She took great care of them, made sure they got plenty of walks, and treated them with the same love and attention we would. We came home to happy pups and a well-kept house, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. We truly appreciated her reliability and care, and we will gladly ask her to watch our dogs again. Highly recommend Robin to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate pet sitter!”

“Isabelle did an amazing job watching our fur baby. I appreciated her communication and attention she gave while we were away. I definitely would recommend her housing sitting your animals, ours was in good hands the entire time.”

“I cannot express enough how lucky we were to come across Silvia. This was the first time in 10 years that I have left town and actually felt like my dogs were in good hands. Especially my most timid girl that usually just stays in our room all day. Nala actually went on walks which she never does when we leave and our two boys who take over our companies attention got lots of it but so did our Nala girl which meant the world to us. We got an abundance of pictures and even got home to dinner. I cannot express enough how thankful we are not to just have found her but to now have her in our life as a friend. Aside from her loving our dogs, she is very knowledgeable and made sure to follow instructions we left. I will never leave my dogs with anyone else! We have a neighbor who usually texts us when things go downhill with other sitters and when I got home and ran over to talk to her, she said “I had nothing bad to say, I actually really liked her too.””

“Victoria was attentive, asked questions about care of our two dogs, took detailed notes to be sure she had the information on hand to care for and handle any issues that might come up while sitting with our dogs. She kept a clean house and documented the each day, (care, walks, meals, and activities), with some pictures and notes to keep us informed. We will call on her again for our dog sitting needs.”

“Christian was great with our pups and took good care of our place while we were on vacation. Our house was spotless when we returned and he went above and beyond in playing with the dogs, they really enjoyed all the fun time he gave them.”
“Keegan was amazing! We have a very nervous and dog-reactive German Shepherd, so we were worried about finding the right sitter. Keegan exceeded our expectations and took such great care of both of our dogs. She was patient, reliable, and made us feel completely at ease while we were away. We came home to two happy, well cared for pups and couldn’t be more grateful. We’re so happy to have found our go-to person for watching our dogs and would highly recommend her to anyone!”

“It’s always stressful leaving your fur babies with someone new. Amber set up a meet and greet to go over their needs and quirks. Initially they are scared of everyone and bark a lot. In almost no time, Amber had bonded with them. We appreciated the updates, pictures and occasional package retrieval off the porch. Amber is always prompt with her responses and very flexible with your pets needs.”

“Mina is an extremely responsible and conscientious petsitter! This was my first time using Rover, and though I was a bit anxious about it at first (especially since I have a cat, not a dog) Mina totally set my mind at ease right from the beginning with her prompt and thorough responsiveness. She followed my very detailed instructions exactly and without question and even went above and beyond what I expected from a housesitter. I’m so happy to have found Mina because though I hate to leave my cat for vacation, I knew the whole time my cat was in very good and capable hands.”

“Daniel is amazing. Don’t hesitate to book with him. He took wonderful care of our pups and the house while we were away for over a week. He sent daily updates and photos. He was super motivated to do a great job for us and made sure everything was taken care of so we could enjoy our trip. We will for sure book with him again!”

“Caroline was a wonderful sitter! She took great care of our dog and went above and beyond to accommodate unexpected situations. We felt extremely comfortable having her and are grateful for the many ways she helped us when we were traveling. We highly recommend her!”

“Jessica was a wonderful pet/house sitter for us while we were away! It was our first time using Rover and we were incredibly pleased with our experience. Jessica was very friendly and sweet with our very nervous dog when we did our meet and greet prior to our trip. Throughout our time away she updated us with pictures and progress on how Nala was doing. Clearly she is wonderful with animals because our nervous pup seemed to be comfortable with her in no time at all. We would definitely recommend Jessica to anyone looking for a quality pet sitter/house sitter while they are away, and will definitely book her again in the future!”

About: I grew up around many animals, especially dogs! Breeds I’m most familiar with include shar-peis, pitbulls, rottweilers, and German shepherds! I’ve also taken care of bunnies, guinea pigs, leopard geckos, and bearded dragons, so no pet is too much for me! I just graduated university and am looking to return to university online to get a second bachelors degree, so I currently am not looking for a job and instead would love to be able to get out of the house and boost my serotonin by meeting people’s pets! I love cuddling with pets and seeing their personalities start to shine through as they get more comfortable! I love taking dogs on walks, seeing how long it will take a cat to choose to sit with me, and holding reptiles for as long as they like! Just being around a person’s pet while their owner is away makes me feel great since I know I’m giving the owner peace of mind while making a new friend.

“As always, Beth takes excellent care of our boy, Drax and he loves it when she is there. It’s very comforting to know that he and our home are so well cared for when we are away.”

Carissa did such an amazing job watching my 2 pups for a week. I have one giant dog and one tiny one and they both love her. She sent plenty of pics and updates to let me know they were safe and happy. We are new to the area and don’t know many people so it is such a relief to be able to leave them and not have to worry.
Robin Paulson did an amazing job at taking care of our three dogs and a cat while we were on a recent trip. Robin came over twice before we left for orientation, and sent pictures of the pets every day. Everything was better than expected in our dealings with Robin. I would highly recommend Robin to anyone looking for a pet sitter.

Silvia is such a joy to work with! She cares for our beloved dogs as if they were her own. We were able to go on a vacation and not feel worried about the care of our dogs at all. Silvia communicated with me day and night and readily responded when I reached out. We will always choose to have Silvia care for our pups in the future and feel lucky to have her support!

We could not have asked for a better sitter! This was the second time we have used Beth and from the very first meet-and-greet, it was clear our dogs felt completely at ease — and that comfort only grew with every stay. When we came home both dogs were relaxed, happy, and clearly well-loved, which as a dog parent means everything to us. It's obvious this sitter has a real gift for making dogs feel safe and at home. I never once felt anxious leaving our dogs in her care, which is rare and so reassuring. We'll absolutely be booking again and recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for a sitter who treats your dog (or dogs!) like family.

Shayla did an amazing job with our 2 dogs. Our youngest is a challenge and she managed her wonderfully. We communicated daily and she sent photos of them. We’ve never had to leave our pups for 8 days before and were quite anxious about it. But Shayla was very responsive to our needs and we came home to 2 happy and healthy pups. I would certainly recommend Shayla.

It was a relief to see how well my difficult dogs got to like him at the first meet and greet. Brian won them over immediately. This tall man on the floor covered on dogs was a sight! He had to deal with a senior dog in hospice care who decided to stop eating right before our trip. Many sitters would have canceled but he rallied and got Archie to eat a little. Brian didn't mind giving multiple medications and kept his communication open. I wish he weren't moving because he'll be difficult to replace

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Prairie Ridge walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Prairie Ridge maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Prairie Ridge choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
