“Sarah was fantastic and I will absolutely request her services again! I was nervous to leave about leaving my dogs for the first time; they are both rescue dogs with separation anxiety and used to a very consistent routine. She took the time to come meet them ahead of time and go over their needs with me. She was very communicative, sent multiple check-ins and photos, and was quick to clarify details if she was unsure about something. They both took to her right away. She was the perfect fill in for "mom" while I was away. Thank you so much! We will definitely reach out again in the future!”

“I came home to calm and happy dogs. Katie is very professional and knowledgable about dog health and behavior. She was attentive to the needs of both my cranky senior chihuahua and my daughter’s young, boisterous, sometimes anxious lab mix. Your pets will be very well looked after. I also really appreciated her sending photos and updates on how things were going.”

About: I have had my own cats and dogs from pup to senior age. I have worked with pets that need high level of attention and exercise to very low level. I enjoy working with both! I love animals and staying active so that is why I really want to get things going on Rover. I recognize that your pet(s) are cherished family members. With lifelong experience in caring for cats and dogs, I am committed to treating your pets with the same love and dedication as my own. A little about me: My name is Connor, which fittingly means "hound lover." I work at a psychiatric hospital with twelve hour shifts. I help those that are unhoused and getting them back into the community. I work M,T,W and S,M,T - 12 hour shift schedule. So working end of the week works really well for me doing Rover. I love being active myself and running with dogs. I’ve only been able to have one outdoor cat in the past. They usually like being inside. In the house I can snuggle and keep them good company.

About: I have taken care of pets my entire life, which has given me a deep, lifelong understanding of animal behavior and needs. My experience goes far beyond standard pet sitting; I am the proud parent of a special needs, insulin-dependent fur baby. Because of this, I am completely comfortable and experienced with administering medications, maintaining strict schedules, and monitoring vital health cues. I know how stressful it can be to leave a pet behind—especially one with medical needs—and I promise to bring that exact same level of devotion, vigilance, and love to your home. I look forward to meeting you and taking care of your fur baby like, they are one of my own! I have taken care of pets my entire life, which has given me a deep, lifelong understanding of animal behavior and needs. My experience goes far beyond standard pet sitting; I am the proud parent of a special needs, insulin-dependent fur baby. Because of this, I am completely comfortable and experienced with administering medications, maintaining strict schedules, and monitoring vital health cues. Because I work from home, pet care seamlessly integrates into my daily routine, allowing me to offer unmatched attentiveness and flexible scheduling throughout the day. Being steps away at all times means I am always available to maintain strict medication timelines, monitor health cues, and provide companionship whenever it's needed. I know how stressful it can be to leave a pet behind—especially one with medical needs—and I promise to bring that exact same level of devotion, vigilance, and love to your home. I look forward to meeting you and taking care of your fur baby like, they are one of my own! When caring for your pets in their own home, my absolute priority is maintaining their familiar routine, comfort, and security while ensuring they remain safely inside. Because my own fur babies are inside-only apartment pets, I am naturally vigilant about home safety, secure entryways, and preventing any accidental escapes. I focus on replicating their exact daily schedules, from precise feeding and medication times to their preferred play and rest windows. By providing dedicated, one-on-one attention in the environment where they feel most confident, I ensure they receive both the physical care and the comforting companionship they need to feel completely relaxed and happy while you are away.

About: I’ve been taking care of neighborhood dogs and dogs that my parents friends have had since I was in elementary school, and I have an 11 year old miniature poodle mix that I trained myself but I’ve always loved dogs of all breeds. I have experience working with tiny and huge dogs, anxious dogs, reactive dogs, high energy dogs, special needs dogs, untrained dogs, heavy pullers, and puppies of various ages. I’m also quite strong and can handle big/rambunctious/reactive dogs with ease, so you wouldn’t have to worry about whether or not I can safely handle your dog. I’m currently back from college for the summer and don’t have a lot going on (aside from taking care of my own dog) so I’m home and available all day most days (aside from when I occasionally go stay with my long term girlfriend for a weekend or so). I decided to start working with Rover because I love animals and I’m happier when I have such a fun reason to get some exercise and leave my house :) I have a large grassy (and freshly fenced) in backyard to play in and make sure to routinely check the integrity of the fence and that there aren’t any potential hazards in my backyard. My dog is quite the lounge-around-inside-where-it’s-cool type, so if you would want your dog to have some off leash time in my backyard, even reactive and dog aggressive dogs wouldn’t have issues because they wouldn’t be anywhere near my dog. I also make sure to follow house rules and instructions to the letter (and am strictly no shoes in any house ever) and keep my clients updated on how things are going with photos, videos, as well as update messages. All potential clients are encouraged to meet up with me before entrusting their pets to me, and if you have any interest in your dog having some off leash time with me in my backyard I would be more than happy to give you a tour. Not only those things- but any other requests you may have that can help give you peace of mind when it comes to entrusting me with your fluffy loved ones are encouraged.

About: I’ve been a mom to small dogs most my adult life. I currently have a chill 7 lb shih tzu mix that would love company on our two daily walks. I work part-time and am never away for more than 4 hours. (Often my college age son is home when I’m out) I’ve taken care of very young pups as well as older dogs requiring medications and special diets. I’m responsible and loving, doing my best to keep pups content while their people are away. I’m communicative and responsive and provide daily pupdates. I work two to three days a week for no more than 4 hours, so I’m home a lot. I have a 7 year-old shih tzu mix that I walk twice a day so I have a good routine established. My college age son lives with me and is super helpful and responsible. Generally if I’m out, he’s home to give extra potty breaks and belly rubs. My back yard is quite big and securely fenced-lots of room for sniffing! My house is cozy and comfortable-I’m happy to have pups on my lap on the couch and in my bed for the night. I do host up to 3 dogs at a time and have a small pup of my own, so I ask that your dog is well socialized.

About: Hi! I’m Vanessa, an experienced and dependable pet caregiver newly relocated to the Shoreline area. I previously provided pet-sitting and dog-walking services before stepping away to focus on my professional work and relocation. I’m excited to begin caring for local pets again and build lasting relationships with families in my new community. As a dog owner myself, I understand how important it is to find someone who is patient, attentive, communicative, and respectful of your pet’s individual routine. I’m comfortable following detailed care instructions and will keep you updated with photos and messages during every visit. I’m currently available for dog walks, drop-in visits, and cat care in Shoreline and nearby communities. I’d love to meet you and your pet! I work full time from home and create my own schedule so I will have plenty of time to chill with your pets! I am flexible with weekends and weekdays. I provide a calm, structured, and supervised environment. I work from home, so pets are never left unattended for long. I have one puppy in training and two low-key cats who mostly keep to themselves. I can crate your pet if needed or provide a separate space to make sure they feel safe, relaxed, and comfortable. Your pet’s routine and comfort always come first.

FAQs for House Sitting - Port Gamble

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Port Gamble walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Port Gamble maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

<b>Tip:</b> Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Port Gamble choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .

sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
