“Abby has done a great job with our two dogs. She followed all the instructions we left and over communicated if anything came up which is what any pet parent cares about when leaving their fur children to someone else. Thanks Abby for providing great care to our dogs!”

“Ashley is a godsend. I know when I’m away, my kitty cats are in great hands. I’m always thrilled when Ashley is available to cat sit for me. She’s the ultimate professional…on the ball and responsive.”

“Absolutely amazing! I’m very happy with how well my animals were taken care of and how she went over and beyond to make sure that they were. I’ll definitely be rebooking her to watch my pets the next time!!”

About: I’m a lifelong animal lover who grew up in a home full of pets and have always been surrounded by animals. We currently have 3 large dogs, rats, guinea pigs, a hamster, a crested gecko, and parrots, so I’m experienced with a wide variety of animals and personalities. I work in the school district, which gives me a very flexible schedule and lots of availability during the summer months. I truly love caring for animals and making them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. One of my biggest dreams is to eventually open a senior dog sanctuary because senior dogs hold such a special place in my heart! I currently work full time in the school district and have summers off. During the summer I am available at any time. :) During the school year weekends are best, but I can do afternoon & evening visits. I will follow any instructions you have for your fur babies. I understand all pets have different needs and wants. Any communication about needs or wants for your baby will be taken care of.
“Sarah was absolutely amazing with our two dogs and cat. She listened to instructions, provided lots of photos with every visit, and gave us very thorough update on all of their activities during the day. We will definitely be using her again in the future!”

“Christina did an awesome job with our super senior Miss Annie. She was very caring and attentive to her and we appreciate her spending time with her while we were away. We will definitely hire her again.”

About: I am a dog lover. I have a dog of my own! I love taking care of dogs and I am very familiar with how to take care of them! I am playing soccer in Columbia, SC this summer. I have an internship and practices during the week. When I’m not working or practicing I have nothing to do. My schedule is flexible! I am very respectful of the areas I’m in. I always leave places cleaner than I left them. I just want to make sure the animals feel loved and safe!
“We’re so thankful we found Kelsey! She was incredibly caring and wonderful with our pup, Lula. She checked in on her multiple times and you could tell she actually spent time with her each time. She sent us lots of pictures and updates throughout the weekend! Would definitely use her again!”

About: Hi, I’m Sam! I live in NE Columbia near Sandhills, and caring for dogs isn’t just something I do—it’s truly part of who I am. I’ve worked with dogs of all ages, breeds, and personalities, from tiny puppies to giant seniors. I’m also the South Carolina Manager for Daisy Bean Rescue, where I’ve helped countless dogs find their forever homes. That means your pup will always be in the hands of someone who knows how to keep them safe, happy, and loved. I work from home and my schedule is pretty flexible and your dog would almost never be unattended. I can take frequent breaks to make sure your dog is well looked after and not alone. I want to care for your pet just exactly the way you would if you were available. I strictly follow all care instructions and make them as comfy as possible until you return.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Pontiac
Sarah was stellar while I was away on vacation! She provided detailed and thorough reviews on how the cats were doing while I was away and I greatly appreciated everything she was able to do while I was away. I loved the pictures too! Even the tortie in the house seemed to come around to her. I would definitely book with Sarah again for the drop ins I’ll need. Thank you again, Sarah!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
