“Atiyana did a wonderful job taking care of our dig Leila. Leila was happy to meet her and took to her from day one. Thankful that she was able to care for her and feed our fish!”
“I can’t recommend Hannah enough as a pet sitter! From the moment we met, it was clear she genuinely loves animals and takes her job seriously. She was incredibly attentive, responsible, and caring while watching over our pets. Hannah kept us updated daily with messages and photos, so we always felt at ease knowing our furry family members were in good hands. She followed all care instructions perfectly and even went above and beyond with a few extra touches, like bringing in packages. We came home to happy, relaxed pets and a spotless house. It’s rare to find someone so trustworthy, kind, and thorough. We’ll absolutely be booking with Hannah again!”

“Sorry I thought I left this sooner, but things were hectic after I got back. Anna did an amazing job with Grey and kept us I formed throughout the 2 weeks she was house sitting. Grey usually after being in the Kennel for a few days you can tell is unhappy doesn't eat and doesn't sleep, but after I got back I could tell he was well rested, well fed, and happy (:”

“Morgan was great with my fur babies. I received so many pictures and videos and felt connected to them even while I was miles away! I will definitely be asking Morgan to watch over my babies again and would highly recommend Morgan to anyone!”

About: Experienced dog walker with a lifelong love for pups! I've cared for dogs since 2008, including senior dogs and those with special needs like blindness and diabetes. Your furry friend will be in caring hands! My schedule is flexible to accommodate your needs. Feel free to message me to work something out for dog walking! Early mornings or during the day! I had a fenced yard with lots of space. Safety and trust are my top priorities. When caring for dogs in my home, I ensure a secure and comfortable environment. I follow all owner instructions carefully, provide constant supervision, and maintain a clean and hazard-free space.
“Kylie is phenomenal! My pup is so well cared for by her. I’m always excited to see the action photos from their walks! This time, we booked a few days of house sitting. It was clear she provided loving care when the next morning, after the stay, my pup went to the guest bedroom to look for her. My guy missed her. Always a good sign. Thanks Kylie!!! 💕🐾”

“Aleyah is very professional and caring. She cares for our pups well and is attentive to their needs. We will continue to rebook Aleyah for dog walking and dog sitting services.”

“Deborah is fantastic! She is very communicative, trustworthy, loves our fur babies as if they were her own, and genuinely cares for our home. We appreciate Deborah taking care of our two boys and will be repeat customers!!”

About: I have taken care of pets since I was in middle school. I first had hermit crabs, then parakeets, and in April 2022 I got my first dog named Luna. I had her since she was about 2 months old so I have a lot of experience with puppies who are going through potty training etc. Luna is fully grown and is about 5lbs. She is a ball of energy and will definitely give your pup a run for their money! I also have another mini poodle named Zeus. Ive had him since about 3 months and he is about 12 lbs. Zeus is very friendly and loving. My aunt also had plenty of dogs and she has relied on me to walk, feed, and bathe her pets! I am definitely reliable when it comes to leaving your dog with me and I will make sure to provide updates throughout the day or night of your fur baby. I’m currently working full time during the week but I will have plenty of time to play with your pups on the weekends! I am available for boarding, house sitting, day care, dog walking, or drop in visits. I live in a house with 2 mini poodles. Luna and Zeus both have a lot of energy and are very friendly dogs. They will play with your dog all day long if they could. While in the house, I can let the fur babies play and entertain each other or crate my dogs to give your fur baby some space. I allow dogs on the furniture so they are free to roam and figure out their new surroundings. If I house sit, I am efficient with checking in on your fur baby, making sure they are okay, and love giving walks. I can stop by for as long as you need on the weekends. Your fur baby will be well taken care of around me!
“Grace did a wonderful job staying with our dog and housesitting for a weekend. She was a great communicator, sent pictures and updates. Wouldn’t have even know she was in the house. We will for sure use her again and love having someone close by we can trust with our home and pup.”

About: My family and I have boarded dogs for the last year. We done much house sitting for families, boarded dogs, and have done drop in visits over the holidays and summer vacation. Taking good care of our animals is what we do. It is a big responsibility and we offer the best service! With updating you daily about how your fur babies are doing as well as sending many pictures and videos of them! Right now my schedule is pretty free during the weekdays and weekends with being a college student on summer break! I will be able to provide much attention to our animals. We have a fenced in yard but we will no longer board dogs. House sitting and drop in visits are preferred for our services. With these visits, we make sure that the animals are fed, played with, and taken out. When we leave your home, we will make sure the house is locked and your animals are safe.
“Hieu and Anna were awesome! Very caring and considerate, and our pets loved them. We really enjoyed their daily updates and pictures. We’ll definitely be asking them to come again!”

“We had an amazing experience with Melissa! She stayed in our home for a week with our two dogs, one of whom has severe anxiety. She took the time to do a meet-and-greet beforehand, gave him the space he needed, carefully read his body language, and earned his trust. She was reliable with his daily medications and patient in helping him feel comfortable. Our home was left spotless and respected, and it was clear she treated both our dogs and our space with great care. She even surprised us with a kind and thoughtful gesture at the end of the stay, which meant so much to our family. We are so grateful to have found her and would 100% book with her again. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a caring, dependable, and professional sitter!”

“Jessica was amazing - not only did she take excellent care of my dogs, she was also super flexible and really helped me navigate some unexpected travel changes. Everything was handled as agreed, and she went above and beyond. We will definitely use her again. 🏆”

“OMG, Xavier was amazing! My fur baby met him and liked him right away. She's a big girl and a rescue dog. She looks very intimidating and can be but overall she's a sweetheart. He took great care of her and sent pictures of how things were going. I would leave her with him again without question. I will recommend Xavier to friends and family.”

“Very responsive, asks good questions and is flexible and very loving to my senior babies. My normally kiddish pup immediately engaged with her and was at ease. Thank you so much for caring for my babes!”

About: I grew up with many pets. For example, I’ve had 6 birds, 3 hamsters, 1 dwarf gerbil, 1 leopard gecko, 2 cats, 2 dogs, and possibly more. I currently have 2 dogs. Both are rescues. Jasper is 2 years old and I’ve had him since he was about a month old if even that, and Raleigh who is 7 now. I’ve had her since she was 2. Aside from the doggy babies, I also currently have a brown anole that I took in from Florida. His name is Tommy and I’ve had him for 4 months now. He was a baby when I found him. I also have 2 fish, Gumball and Penny. I personally believe all animals are babies. I’ve also pet sit for family members before. I’m currently working part time and I am also a freshman in College. I do have a good bit of free time, and because I don’t live alone I have people home to help take care of my furry and scaled friends, where as some people may need some extra help that I’d be able to provide! I was raised right. I’m respectful, do not cross boundaries, and know better than to disrespect clients (human and animal, of course!) I’m a big empath, I love animals beyond comprehension. I’m a vegetarian that’s working my way to veganism if that can show you how empathetic I am. I also cry while watching Ratatouille. I love walking, I love talking to animals, I treat animals as if they are literal babies because they are just too cute!

“Veronica is the best dog sitter I’ve ever had! My six month old puppy Zeke loved her and had such a great time with her and her dog JoJo. She kept me up-to-date on how things were going and sent pictures every day. She stayed at my house and when I returned, it was like I never left… She had cleaned everything up!! She is fantastic! Highly recommended!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Pomfret walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Pomfret maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Pomfret choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
