About: I’ve always had a deep love for animals. My dog Dexter, a Shih Tzu-Poodle cross, was my constant companion for 19 wonderful years before I recently said goodbye to him. I’m not quite ready for another dog of my own yet, but I would love the opportunity to give that same love, care and attention to yours. I also volunteer with Soi Dog Foundation in Thailand during my yearly visits, where I spend time with the dogs, walk them and help with their care. This has given me hands-on experience with dogs of different sizes, personalities and backgrounds, and has helped me become comfortable adapting to each dog’s individual needs. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your pet’s care and I don’t take that responsibility lightly. Your dog will be treated like part of my family, with plenty of cuddles, walks, playtime and attention. I’m patient, reliable and attentive and I always want the dogs in my care to feel safe, comfortable and loved. I also have experience caring for senior dogs, including administering oral medication, so I’m comfortable providing a little extra care when needed. I have a flexible schedule and am able to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the dogs in my care. For daycare and boarding, I build their routine around each dog's individual needs, including their usual feeding, exercise and rest schedule. For dogs staying with me for the day, I typically provide walks in the morning, around lunchtime and again around dinner. Boarding dogs also get a bedtime walk, for a total of four walks throughout the day. Walks are generally around 30 minutes or longer, depending on the dog's age, energy level and exercise needs. I also have a small fenced yard where dogs can enjoy some outdoor time. Between walks, there is plenty of time for play, companionship and relaxing at home. I live in a pet-friendly condo with my own small fenced yard and plenty of green space and parks nearby. My home is a comfortable, calm environment where dogs can relax and feel at home. I take the safety and wellbeing of every dog in my care seriously. When a dog first arrives, I take the time to get to know their personality, routine and comfort level rather than expecting them to settle in immediately. I follow their owner's instructions closely and maintain their normal feeding, exercise and daily routine as much as possible. I’m usually home with the dogs in my care, and if I need to go out briefly, I keep the time away from home to a minimum. I also make sure I understand any important behaviors, sensitivities or special needs before caring for a dog so I can provide a safe and comfortable experience.
