“We miss Ashley! She took great care of our dogs whenever we needed to leave town. She truly spoiled them and treated them as her own. They also enjoyed playing with her dogs and running around her backyard. Highly recommend if you’re in the 29/JT area or even vacationing out there.”
“Gloria, Was wonderful with our two Cockers for 7 days. She updated us twice a day with pictures and also sent message when she need to adjust food or clean our dogs ears. We have other booking with Gloria. We both can't wait to see her and her Husband again. Tamera & Roy Mlakar ( Daisy and Char)”

“Larry took great care of our pet. This is my first time using a sitter instead of boarding and she was much happier and received his undivided attention. Lots of photos and great communication.”

“Alan and Joe were fantastic, and my dogs loved being there. I was nervous, as they’ve never stayed away from home, but Joe and Alan made them feel right home and calmed my nerves. We may have found our go-to sitters.”

“Valiantsina and her son did a great job caring for my baby boy and kept him active and entertained inside while it was extremely hot out and walks had to be short. She was very quick to respond and sent pictures and videos while I was away, which made my work trip much less stressful knowing he was in good hands! I would definitely rebook with her!!”

“This was my first time using a sitter and I couldn’t be more pleased with Joan and her husband. They took such good care of my dog for two weeks and she was very happy staying with them. They took her on walks, gave her such loving care. I will definitely use them again.”

“Monica is amazing! Was my first time boarding my pup and she made me feel comfortable right away. Sent me pics throughout the stay and Enzo had a blast playing with the other pups, kittens, and other friends! He was completely tuckered out the next day after all the fun! Thanks again!”

“Francis took amazing care of my pug puppy who had never been boarded before. She kept me updated throughout the days with fun pictures, kept my puppy well occupied with walks, cute games and treats! She groomed and bathed him and thoroughly pampered him. I felt such peace of mind knowing my puppy was in such secure and caring hands. Thank you, Francis R. 💖”

“Alanah helped me out with a last minute dog sitting request. She was very responsive, so sweet, and took great care of my shy dog. It is obvious that she is a naturally caring person and I recommend her!”

“Brandon and Billy took fantastic care of Spencer while we were away. They kept us updated throughout his stay with photos. They went above and beyond to make him feel right at home. While we hate to have to leave him while we travel, we are so grateful to know what good and caring people Brandon and Billy are to our pup.”

“Patti was a godsend to us when we had to leave our small pet for a weekend to attend a family event in Seattle. We had just arrived in Palm Desert for a month, and knew no one and no place that we trust to take good care of our little pet. Patti responded and gave Sydney lots of TLC and genuine care during the time we were away. We are very grateful to her.”

“I appreciate Don taking such good care of my dog while we were out. Our dog gets a little stressed when we are away but Don took such good care of her she was fine and I could tell she was fine and well taken care of. It was nice that we were able to go out and not worry about her! We appreciate it...Thank you Don!!”

About: I’ve taken care of my pets for the last 25 years. And volunteered with k9connection, a non-profit organization to help at-risk teenagers train dogs for rehoming. I am a psychotherapist and work from home. Other than daily errands and the occasional evening out I am here almost 90% of the time. I have a dog-door from my bedroom that leads to a fenced-in 10’x12’ area and a 3000 sq. ft. corral with a covered horse shelter.
“Very happy with Alexandra, nothing was too much trouble, we picked up Roxy and it was clear she had had a good time. Everything was perfect, Roxy did not want to leave when we collected her!”

“My family rented a house in yucca valley and my dog was too big to stay there. Salina was the perfect solution! Her house is centrally located and pick up and drop off was super easy. Salina was very understanding of Millie’s curiosity and she took great care of her. I got pictures and updates and Millie even got introduced to her new favorite toy. Would recommend and would use again”

“Taurawa was INCREDIBLE! I cannot believe I found such a perfect caretaker for my dogs through rover. Her property is absolutely gorgeous and my dogs had the best time staying there. She’s so caring, knowledgeable, and thoughtful. I can’t wait to take my dogs to stay with her the next time I’m in Joshua tree.”

“Mesa LOVED her stay with Ann and Buddy. They went on a walks and to the dog park, and they played in the yard. Ann has a great space—indoor and out—for dogs, and she was super communicative, making the whole process easy. Will book again! Thanks, Ann!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Pinto Wye home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Pinto Wye.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Pinto Wye sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
