Danielle was a huge relief after our regular sitter planned a last minute trip the same time they were supposed to watch the puppies. She was great. Communicated quickly. Super sweet with the puppies.

About: Hi! I’m a reliable, patient, and caring cat sitter who understands that every cat has their own unique personality and routine. Whether your cat is playful, shy, or enjoys quiet companionship, I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I provide fresh food and water, clean litter boxes, playtime, cuddles (if your cat enjoys them!), and plenty of attention. I’m also happy to administer medication if needed and will carefully follow your cat’s routine and any special instructions. I know how important it is to have peace of mind when you’re away, so I’ll send regular updates and photos so you can see how your cat is doing. My goal is to provide the same level of care and affection that I would give my own pets, ensuring your cat is happy, healthy, and stress-free until you return. I look forward to meeting you and your feline family! As a full-time middle school teacher, I have a structured schedule that allows me to provide reliable pet care before and after school, in the evenings, on weekends, and during school breaks. Cat sitting is a great fit because cats typically do well with consistent drop-in visits, and I’m committed to making sure they receive the attention, care, and routine they need while you’re away. I’m organized, dependable, and experienced in following routines—skills I use every day as a teacher. I’ll communicate regularly with updates and photos, so you can feel confident that your cat is happy, safe, and well cared for. I care for every cat according to their unique personality, routine, and needs. I make sure they have fresh food and water, keep their litter box clean, and provide plenty of love, attention, and playtime if they enjoy interacting. I also respect cats that prefer their space, making sure they feel safe and comfortable in their own environment. I carefully follow each owner’s instructions, including feeding schedules, medication, and any special care requirements. During every visit, I monitor for any changes in behavior or health and will communicate with the owner right away if I notice anything unusual. I also send regular updates and photos so owners can relax knowing their cat is happy and well cared for while they’re away.

Jenna did a great job with my two cats. They are quite shy and go into hiding when anyone comes to the house. It took some time but by the end Ricky was greeting Jenna and getting some pets. Can't give a better endorsement than that! I had an accident while on vacation and needed help for about 5 weeks longer than planned which Jenna was able to do. That was extremely helpful. I would definitely use Jenna again an highly recommend her.

About: I’ve had a cat/s since I was a kid, harness trained my youngest Thor when he was a tiny kitten & give 2 of my other cats special medicines. If you are wanting help harness training your kitten or giving them medicine I can help! I run my own business here in Harrisonburg & can be flexible during the day/weekends depending on time as I pick up business. Sometimes bwt my business sessions I go home to check in on my cats so I’d be happy to do the same for you! I know my 4 cats like their litter boxes clean so if even scooping your cat’s box/changing it out can help make a difference I understand. Let me know at least 3 days in advance. My 4 cats are territorial so when I’m home they are often either on my screened in porch & separate rooms in the house. At the moment I can’t take care of any additional cats at my house however I can check in on yours at your place when needed.

I can also work from a laptop or my phone so I’m glad to travel and serve as I can. My Alaskan Malamute is an inside/outside dog. He enjoys his time on my front lawn via a simple shock collar and has free roam within my home.

About: I’ve had six amazing dogs in my life, and before leaving for college, I cared for four all on my own—they were truly my pride and joy. Dogs have always been a huge part of my world, and even the shy or scared ones seem to find comfort with me. I once wanted to be a vet because of how much I love animals, but I realized I couldn’t handle seeing dogs in pain. That love now drives my passion for pet care. Whether it’s playtime, walks, or just some quality snuggles, I give every dog the same love and attention I’d give my own. I’m currently in college which only takes up some of my days, so I have plenty of free time during the day to care for your pups. My flexible schedule allows me to give them the attention, walks, and playtime they need to stay happy and loved while you’re away. Your dog’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I create a calm, loving environment where dogs feel secure and cared for, whether they’re full of energy or a little shy. I always follow any instructions you provide closely and keep a close eye on your pup to ensure they’re happy, healthy, and stress-free. I treat every dog like my own, with lots of love, patience, and respect for their unique personality and needs. You can trust that your pup is in safe, caring hands with me.

I recently had Sarah care for my two cats, while I was out of the country for 10 days, and she did a fantastic job. My cats are pretty easy to look after - just food, water, litter box, and a little playtime but she went above and beyond. When I returned, the cats were happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. Nothing in the house was disturbed, which shows they felt loved and secure. On top of that, Sarah was thoughtful enough to bring in my mail and even took the trash can in from the curb, which I really appreciated. I would absolutely recommend her to friends and will definitely book her again in the future!

About: I’ve cared for animals most of my life, with decades of hands-on experience, starting with gerbils and my first Siamese cat when I was nine. I’ve also had parakeets for several years. Friends and family have often relied on me for drop-in visits. I’ve always liked the different qualities animals bring, cats with their emotional honesty and dogs with their energy and engagement. I also notice how they relate to the world in their own ways, dogs tend to look for connection and interaction, cats move more on their own terms, and horses are often more tuned in to their surroundings and quick to respond when something feels off. Keeping that in mind helps me adjust my approach so each one feels comfortable and understood. As a young adult, I worked a couple summers in a dog kennel, where my interest in obedience, canine behavior, and training really took off and grew from there. I also spent several summers at horse camp early on, where I gained hands-on experience with horse care, handling, and stable routines. I’ve always enjoyed riding horseback, and still do when I can. Those early experiences shaped how I approach animals today. I’m naturally more at ease with animals, calm, steady, and patient, and I’m attentive to how they communicate and what they need. The first dogs I had of my own were a street-mix, Ringo, then a Giant Schnauzer and later a Husky mix, Harley, and in more recent years, my best buddy, Achy, was a Jack Russell Terrier. Caring for him through different stages of life deepened my understanding of attentive, consistent care. With my Schnauzer, Bella, I trained and competed in obedience, which gave me a strong appreciation for structure, consistency, and clear communication. Some of my animals were adopted, while others I raised from puppyhood, which gave me experience with both early training and supporting animals as they settle into new environments. I appreciate that each animal has its own personality, comfort level, and needs, especially when their routine changes, and I do my best to keep things as familiar and steady as possible. My experience includes: • Daily care, feeding, walks, play, companionship • Supporting anxious, sensitive, or high-energy pets • Keeping routines consistent • Reinforcing basic training and boundaries • Basic first aid for dogs and cats (minor wounds, claw injuries, and general care) • Grooming and brushing, including tick checks and removal (and basic hoof care for horses) • Care for small animals, birds and fish, including cage cleaning and basic aquarium upkeep I take a calm, patient approach and don’t rush interaction. I allow trust to build naturally so pets feel secure and comfortable while you’re away. I’m comfortable caring for dogs, cats, and small animals such as rodents, birds, and ferrets. At this time, I don’t offer care for reptiles or arachnids. I also have experience with horses from years of riding, and while it’s been some time, I’m comfortable assisting with basic care. At home, I currently care for a senior rescue cat, Aggy, which keeps me mindful of the extra patience and attention older animals often need. I’m comfortable with routine care such as eye drops, tablets, and grooming or brushing. For injections, IVs, or more advanced medical care, I recommend working with a veterinary professional. While I’m new to Rover, caring for animals has been a consistent part of my life. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and wellbeing are always my priority. I am self-employed and currently work part-time, which gives me flexibility in my daily and weekly schedule. I’m able to plan pet care around the needs of the pet owner and provide reliable, attentive care. I provide care in the pet owner’s home to keep things familiar and comfortable for the pet. My visits typically include up to four shorter potty breaks throughout the day, along with a longer walk and evening care. Overnight stays follow a consistent routine to support a sense of safety and stability, as both dogs and cats tend to feel more at ease with familiar patterns. During each visit, I make sure pets are fed, have fresh water, get appropriate exercise, and receive calm, attentive companionship. I follow care instructions closely, keep an eye on behavior and overall wellbeing, and provide regular photo and video updates so you can feel at ease while you’re away. I’m respectful of your home and routines, and I’m happy to take care of small details, such as watering houseplants, if requested.

Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Penn Laird. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy.
