“Alaina is the best! She was very patient and understanding with my shy pup. She was also amazing with my elderly pup and was very observant of their behavior. She really helped me feel less stressed about being away from all three of my pups.”
“Thank you so much for dropping in to check on our two kitties. We really really appreciate that you were able to visit around Mollee's bedtime and to see her in the photos all relaxed in her usual places. Della jumped down from the cat tree in the office when we got home, she was napping up top. Hopefully, as she gets to know you, she will come out and play with you!”

About: Experienced animal lover who grew up with dogs and understands the care and responsibility they need. Trustworthy, reliable, and comfortable with walking, feeding, and providing loving care. Im currently unemployed. So that means I am available whenever! I am an animal lover and would love to spend my time with your beloved pets. My home has a 6ft Fence that will keep your beloved pets in. There are no other pets here. Safe atmosphere. Also willing to make any accommodation in your home.

About: I’m a teacher who loves to take care of pets in his spare time. I can walk your dog, play with your dog or cat, take care of your cats needs and can house sit as needed. I am free on Thursdays and Fridays as far as week days go. I also can work on the weekend too. I just need notice so that I can accommodate. I am very good at respecting the space of the owners home and can make sure that things are in good order both during and after pet sitting.
About: I’ve always had dogs in my life and I love them oh so dearly! I’ve stayed in homes of family friend dog owners for a few years now, mostly just taking care of the dogs and going on walks, as well as watering plants when needed. I’m not much of a cat person, I didn’t grow up with cats but I can do what is needed of me. I work part time, around 25 hours a week so I’ll have plenty of time to hang out with your babies and make sure they are well taken care of. I will care for your baby in your own home where they have all their favorite toys and comfort spots. I will take them for walks and give them all the snuggles they need!
“Erica was WONDERFUL! She responded promptly to our last minute request for a drop-in visit for our pup, Olive. Erica sent us updates about the visit with photos! We hope to use Erica’s services again in the future. I submit my highest recommendation”

“Eliza was a wonderful sitter for our senior cat. She was very thorough, thoughtful, and provided timely updates. Highly recommend and would book again in the future!”

About: Although I am new to rover, I am an experienced lifelong pet owner and excited to offer my services as a dog sitter. Your dog will not only receive care but also love and affection. My playful approach allows me to connect with dogs on a deeper level creating trust and ensuring they feel secure and loved while you are away. Since I am retired, I can structure my day around your pets existing schedule. Providing regular bathroom breaks, daily walks and playful time is essential. I want your pet to feel happy, comfortable and keep to their usual routine. I'll keep you up to date with photos and quick notes to ensure your peace of mind. I follow the instructions you provide so your furry friend stays in routine and is comfortable. I'm mindful of potty breaks and each dogs personality and energy level so I can adjust our activities to best suit their needs. I have a very large completely fenced yard to play in and am happy to come to your home if that is where your pet happiest.
About: IMPORTANT: I will be going back to school Sept 12, no longer available for rover. I think what sets me apart is the fact that I am not just doing this as a side hustle, but as a lifestyle. Animals are my passion, and I want my career to be surrounded by animals. I'm studying animal science, where a big part of my day-to-day life is learning about animals. Animals play a big role in my day-to-day life, ensuring their safety, happiness, and overall well-being. My family has a black lab who is very friendly and absolutely loves swimming and the outdoors. We give a lot of our time to him. We also have a cat that is scared of a lot, but ultimately friendly. I try to get dogs active outside and enjoying life rather than just sitting around. Even if it's just staying inside, I value giving them the attention and love they need as well, instead of just leaving them be. I make sure they go outside to do their business and get as much fresh air as possible.

“Once again, I have been blown away at the wonderful care that Brittny provides our “girlies”. She is beyond reliable and professional but at the same time she is like family. I trust her and know she will complete the tasks at hand with the utmost care. Thank you Brittny for allowing me the ability to get away. You are just the best!”
About: It’s hard to find someone to trust to watch your fur babies. I’m hoping to give you peace of mind when you are away. I can be flexible to a pet’s needs including exercise, socialization, potty schedule and medication regiments. I can’t think of a time in my life we didn’t have animals. As a child I wanted to be a Veterinarian. I worked at an animal hospital for a few years in my early 20’s. It was a great experience. I live close to a dog park and Forest Park or will take your dog on a run if needed. Also, there is also an emergency vet clinic nearby; just in case. A daily check in can be provided including photos. I look forward to meeting you and your fur baby!! I work from home so my pet routine with Lilly and Winston grounds me. Especially for morning and evening feedings and daily walks. As they are getting older our activity has slowed but I’m ready to meet the exercise levels for any pet that I’m sitting. I have a fenced yard with two friendly dogs. I have been working with animals nearly my whole life so adding new animals to our pack is second nature.

About: I love dogs. Growing up, I've cared for several family dogs, including a shih-poo named Kirby, a german shepherd/lab/husky mix named Beauty, and two miniature golden doodles named Amber and Rusty. I volunteered weekly as a 'Canine Companion' at the Humane Society for three and a half years, walking, training and cleaning up after dogs, and providing feedback to help them find homes. I had a few hours of formal dog training at the Humane Society. My wife used to work as a vet tech, so she's also a great source of knowledge for animal care that I draw from. I drive from Hillsboro to Portland to drop my wife off at College at 10am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; I pick her up at 6pm. I can attend to clients in both locations and Beaverton since I drive this route often. I have a cat in a two bedroom apartment. There's a lot of other dogs and leashless dog parks in the area, which is ideal if your dog is friendly with other animals. I'm used to caring for my friend's cats in his home, bringing in his mail and tending his garden. I bring a calm, quiet presence that keeps the cats relaxed.
About: I’ve cared for animals my whole life and I’m deeply committed to providing the same level of love, patience, and attention that I would want for my own pets. I’m experienced with pets of all sizes and temperaments, and I’m comfortable with feeding routines, administering medications, handling leashed walks, and maintaining a calm, safe environment. My priority is making sure your pets feel happy, secure, and well cared for while you’re away. I’ve recently moved back to the Portland area to finish school online, so my schedule is wide open to care for your pets! Text me and let me know how I can adjust my schedule to fit your needs! I prioritize following all instructions as their written, from feeding schedules, walks, to adhering to any medical needs your pet may have. I will provide the utmost care and respect for your home and animals to ensure everyone feels at ease.
“Paige is the sweetest and kindest, and our kitty girl’s “Home Alone Christmas” while we were out of state was made very special and not so alone with Paige’s drop in visits! Thank you Paige!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
