“Madelyn was absolutely wonderful! I got detailed updates daily while I was gone for two weeks, including a bunch of photos with the text updates. She communicated clearly how both were doing each day, and I could tell she was making every effort to comfort my shy cat. I always worry leaving them alone in the house, but had no reason to with Madelyn checking in on them daily. Absolutely recommend her, and will request her in the future 🙂”

About: When I was in high school one summer I took care of over 20 dogs for an around a week. I fed, watered, cleaned their poop, and loved on them. I am currently in between things in life right now. I am pretty free and flexible. As long as it’s within walking distance. I am gonna choose to be unavailable on Sundays. I am very respectful to your wants and needs for your dogs. Because I know you love them and I wanna love them just as much as I can.
“Hailey did a great job. She always kept in contact with me each day and let me know that she could find the cats if I asked her. Let me know their food and water levels as well. Great job, thank you!”

About: I’ve lived with pets my whole life, gaining years of hands-on experience with animals of all kinds. Volunteering at an animal shelter has allowed me to care for pets with a variety of needs, including special medical or behavioral requirements. I’m always ready for long adventures on trails with active pups or a quiet day at home with relaxed furry friends. My goal is to provide love, attention, and customized care to ensure your pet is happy, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away. I’m currently an online college student and work full time, but I can make accommodations. My online classes give me a flexible schedule, and I’m happy to work with you to find the best time to care for your pet. I’m dedicated to ensuring every pet gets the attention and care they need, no matter the schedule. Safety is my top priority when caring for pets. On Alaska’s trails, I take extra precautions to ensure pets are secure, safe from wildlife, and prepared for the weather. At home, I create a clean, hazard-free environment and am vigilant about managing allergies or specific sensitivities. I’m trained to handle emergencies, including performing the Heimlich maneuver on both cats and dogs, and I maintain a strong focus on personal safety while caring for animals. My goal is to provide a safe, secure, and enjoyable experience for every pet in my care.

About: Whether you have dogs or cats, I’m here to help! I’ve had dogs and cats all my life and I know how hard it is to look for someone reliable to be there when you’re not. I am good at following any directions that are given to ensure that your fur babies are cared for and comfortable. So if you need anyone to drop in please reach out. Also if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask :) I have a pretty set schedule when it comes to my day job. Outside of that and on the weekends I’m free. So if I need to stop by in the morning or afternoon, I’ll be there. I’d say I’m flexible as far as time and distance goes. My home is cozy and safe. I have a fully fenced yard with lots of space to play. I have 2 dogs that could use the extra playtime.
About: I’m not a teen :) so I will show up without fail on time every time. I’m not the cheap option but I guarantee that there’ll be no surprises if you hire me. If you have multiple pets, please reach out to me, we can discuss a personalized rate. I am around dogs and cats all my life, that’s my happy place and I love every aspect of it, even the not so glamorous parts like cleaning, listening to barking, or dealing with emergencies. I worked at a pet Resort for years here in Alaska working with all types of furry friends. I have a soft spot for seniors, I also have a lovely old lady in my home, a 12 year old German Shepherd, Molly. If I may suggest something to any pet owner in our valley: please don’t choose your sitter based on who’s the cheapest available option… taking care of your pets in your home is a big responsibility. Great joy as well of course but it must be done with 100% attention, care and love. I can promise that 100% because that’s the only setting in my book when it comes to animals. Please feel free to reach out to me if you need help, I would love to be there for you and for your pets. I raised three children, all grown-up now. I have the time now for your pets. Because of my love for animals, I look forward to helping you when you need it! Safety is THE most important aspect of taking care of a pet, so before I start working with one I always have multiple questions to the owner. Knowing your doggie, knowing the routine, the environment etc is a crucial factor in providing a safe and quality service.
About: Iv had dogs my entire life. From labs to bullterriers, pitbulls, britneys,GPS puppies. I will take care of yours as I would my own. Walks, parks if yours likes parks, cuddles, anything they need. I work from home so I have lots of flexibility to care for your pups! I’m available for boarding on weekends and most weekdays after 2pm. I’m happy to accommodate early mornings or extended stays with advance notice, and I’m quick to respond to messages. Your dog’s safety is always my top priority. Dogs are always leashed outside and stay within my sight at all times. I closely follow your care instructions, keep a calm and attentive environment, and make sure pets get plenty of love, supervision, and safe play. I treat every dog like they’re my own.
“Tania did a wonderful job taking care of my animals. She was always on time for check ins, and my animals were all happy and healthy when I returned from my trip. I would absolutely recommend her for your pet sitting needs.”

“RaeAnna was amazing with my dog. The booking process was easy and she provided consistent updates. She was respectful and courteous throughout the entire process! Thanks again! I will definitely be booking with her again next time we are needing a dog sitter.”

“I last minute booked and was able to leave within the hour of the request. I left the house a mess and came back to the house being slick and span. I absolutely adore Heaven! She is the only sitter we use!”

About: I was raised by a shelter worker and started care and training at a very young age for all types of animals and spent much of my life in the shelter or fostering animals for their new lives to come, because they deserve happiness. Social, behavioral, hand signals you name it. It’s been an enormous part of all of my life. They are not just pets, they are FAMILY! I’m extremely flexible for any schedule and will ensure that your dog has company/companionship at all times and is well looked after while also giving them exercise and/or stimulation I come with a ADA companion who is very dog friendly, well mannered and behaved (and deaf). I can leave her home when needed, but she LOVES friends and the outdoors. Along with my extensive background with training, I’m also EXTREMELY hyper-vigilant to dog’s emotions and needs. Having a deafie has only heightened the awareness that I already possessed to ensure safety at all times while still enjoying the life of a dog.
About: I have a special place in my heart for senior dogs and senior care for dogs. I am happiest when I am taking care of animals in whatever way they need love and care. I especially love helping out with farm animals whenever I have the chance! I currently work part time so have plenty of time Wednesday through Sunday to care for your pets. I prefer to check on them in their own homes frequently each day giving them plenty of time to run around and play or have some love and companionship. When I check on your pets in their homes I will be sure they have everything they need to be comfortable and safe while I’m away. I will also spend an hour with them to make sure they have plenty of time to do their business outside and get their wiggles out if they need it.
“Katie is such a treasure! She took incredibly good care of my pups, sharing pics and observations of them the whole time I was away. Even went above and beyond and made an extra visit when my flight home was delayed. So glad she’s joined us here in the Wood River Valley!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Palmer
We have used Madelyn twice now and I am so impressed. The first time our dog was sick and needed multiple medications and a lot of TLC. She handed everything perfectly and was so patient. This time around we had a change of plans and had to modify the booking. Madelyn was understanding and very responsive. Highly recommend!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
