“I really appreciated Mary Jo. My boys obviously looked forward to seeing her each day. She also was very attentive to my request on their quirks and also was observant of things that just seemed out of place, which my boys are very capable of creating, and addressed them. She's a joy and I look forward to using her again.”

“Hailey has completed several drop in visits for our three dogs and she has been exceptional. She is very responsive and always super flexible and accommodating to changes in requests and I can’t recommend her enough.”

About: I’m a passionate animal lover with years of experience caring for a wide range of pets. My journey started with 4 years of volunteering and fostering for the Anti-Cruelty Society in Chicago. Since then, I’ve continued fostering with PawsCo and the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region in Colorado, helping many pets while they waited for their forever homes. This summer, I'm volunteering at the Matanuska-Susitna Borough Animal Shelter. I have extensive experience caring for dogs, cats, rodents, birds, and even farm animals. Over the years, I’ve cared for dogs of many breeds, sizes, personalities, and energy levels, including large and active dogs who need regular exercise, structure, outdoor time, and plenty of attention. I’m a full-time remote worker and digital nomad, which gives me a flexible lifestyle and allows me to spend a lot of time with the pets in my care. I can work from anywhere with reliable internet (I do have my own Starlink for that, too), so house sitting works especially well for me because I’m able to be around throughout much of the day rather than leaving pets alone for long stretches. I especially love hiking with dogs and caring for pups who enjoy being active, but I’m equally happy spending the day working from home with a senior dog curled up nearby or a cat keeping me company. While my personal and work travel currently prevents me from being a full-time dog parent, fostering, volunteering, house sitting, and offering my services through Rover allow me to keep animals as a big part of my life! And I love it! 🌺🌺 Hawaii Winter 2026–2027 🌺🌺 This winter, my husband Eduardo will be joining me for our Hawaii stay. We’ll be arriving before Thanksgiving and plan to spend several months in Hawaii through February. We’re both experienced house sitters and are currently finishing an extended house sit in Alaska. We take caring for someone’s home just as seriously as caring for their pets, and we’re comfortable with longer stays and established household routines. We’re also completely open to island hopping for the right sits, so we’re happy to consider opportunities on Oʻahu, Maui, the Big Island, Kauaʻi, or elsewhere in Hawaii. Rover isn’t a primary source of income for us, as Eduardo and I both have established full-time remote careers. We’re offering house sitting at a significantly lower rate because it fits naturally with our winter travels and helps offset some of our accommodation costs while allowing us to spend time caring for animals. Because of that, longer stays are especially appealing to us, and I’m happy to keep my rate very affordable when the arrangement is a great fit for everyone! Our remote work also means we can spend significantly more time at home with the pets in our care. We’re active and love walks, hikes, and outdoor adventures, but we’re just as comfortable adapting to quieter pets, senior animals, medication schedules, or pets who simply want lots of companionship. If you’re planning a trip this winter and are looking for experienced, dependable, loving house sitters who will truly spend time with your pets and care for your home as if it were our own, I’d be very happy to chat. We’re especially interested in multi-week and longer house sits anywhere in Hawaii between late November and February, but we’re happy to consider shorter stays as well. Looking forward to meeting you and your beloved companions! 🐾🌺 I work from home, so can move my hours around as needed and will adjust my days to your furry baby if needed. I am also very active, so happy to take your pups around and get them a proper exercise! My house's doors are always closed and since my backyard is not fenced, I never let the dogs off-leash and only use a long leash to have them run around or chase a ball / other toys.
“I last minute booked and was able to leave within the hour of the request. I left the house a mess and came back to the house being slick and span. I absolutely adore Heaven! She is the only sitter we use!”

“Melissa is wonderful. We have had her come by to watch our cats a few times now and she always makes sure to send a few pics every visit. My cats love her (even our little scaredy cat). We will absolutely use her services again.”

“Jennifer went above & beyond! She’s very sweet & bubbly, also professional & kind. She adapted to all my crazy-cat-lady antics & took care of my cat so well! She even cleaned up after a surprise bird massacre…”

“Katie is such a treasure! She took incredibly good care of my pups, sharing pics and observations of them the whole time I was away. Even went above and beyond and made an extra visit when my flight home was delayed. So glad she’s joined us here in the Wood River Valley!”

“Tania did a wonderful job taking care of my animals. She was always on time for check ins, and my animals were all happy and healthy when I returned from my trip. I would absolutely recommend her for your pet sitting needs.”

About: I am mostly experienced with cats, but I have been around dogs for years in care or for fun, just never having direct ownership of a dog. Willing to try it out! I am more than happy to watch over a pet overnight or during the day, including pet care, watering and feedings. I am also capable of walks. In my own personal care, I have raised or adopted several cats including doctors appointments, cleaning, etc. Of other clients pets I have taken care of more or less the same, all satisfied in their pets care.
“Megan took very good care of my 2 kitties who were both very shy and scared for the first few days. She sat with them to make sure they ate and eventually they became friends. I'll definitely be booking again with them for our next trip.”

About: I’m not a teen :) so I will show up without fail on time every time. I’m not the cheap option but I guarantee that there’ll be no surprises if you hire me. If you have multiple pets, please reach out to me, we can discuss a personalized rate. (Pet Sitting/night rate covers me being with your pet 17hours/day, usually from 5 pm to 10 am) I am around dogs and cats all my life, that’s my happy place and I love every aspect of it, even the not so glamorous parts like cleaning, listening to barking, or dealing with emergencies. I worked at a pet Resort for years here in Alaska working with all types of furry friends. I have a soft spot for seniors, I also have a lovely old lady in my home, a 12 year old German Shepherd, Molly. If I may suggest something to any pet owner in our valley: please don’t choose your sitter based on who’s the cheapest available option… taking care of your pets in your home is a big responsibility. Great joy as well of course but it must be done with 100% attention, care and love. I can promise that 100% because that’s the only setting in my book when it comes to animals. Please feel free to reach out to me if you need help, I would love to be there for you and for your pets. I raised three children, all grown-up now. I have the time now for your pets. Because of my love for animals, I look forward to helping you when you need it! Safety is THE most important aspect of taking care of a pet, so before I start working with one I always have multiple questions to the owner. Knowing your doggie, knowing the routine, the environment etc is a crucial factor in providing a safe and quality service.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Palmer. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
