About: I was raised on a small family farm, loving on furry critters (and even those with fins) of all kinds since I could walk. As the only kid at home, animals became my best friends and caring for them is instinctual for me. On the canine side of the fur, I grew up around Bassett hounds, Rottweilers, and poodles while living at home - all of them living out their best life well into their senior years. However, I also have experience caring for numerous breed types, with and without special needs, prescription diets, and administering medications as needed. There have been several occasions when I meet with a potential client and they have said that their pup doesn't warm up to new people easily and they are uneasy about leaving them with anyone. Instead of forcing myself on an anxious doggy, I simply sit down on their level and allow them to discover me at their pace, building trust and rapport. Before our visit has concluded, I have managed to gain a new canine friend. Most dogs are not mean by nature, they are anxious and scared of new people, environments, and situations. My goal is to be their ally, alieving their anxiety, and providing a safe, fun, comfortable, and loving environment for them. Many friends, neighbors, and clients (met through word-of-mouth referrals) have relied on me consistently for many years to provide top-notch, quality care, in my home or theirs, while they are away. I make it my top priority to ensure any furry friend that is entrusted in my care is treated as a member of my family and that you, as their human, feel confident, reassured, and satisfied that your furry friend(s) are in great hands. I provide daily updates with photos and videos and welcome you to contact me as often as you need to check in, careful to respond promptly. For those who chose in-home (my home) boarding, I have access to my family's farm, offering another fun place to explore, play, and run (with supervision). Additionally, I live less than 500' from the rail-trail inside Ottawa's city limits and have a large (though unfenced) yard. I do not kennel or crate dogs at any time unless an owner prefers it or a behavioral issue arises (but only as a last resort), preferring instead to give your best friend(s) free reign of the bouse, including curling up on the furniture. However, if you prefer crating, you are asked to provide a kennel, bedding, 2-3 toys, and a familiar textile (shirt, blanket, pillow, T-shirt, etc) with your scent on it - this helps with separation anxiety. All in-home boarding clients will need to provide food, dish, medications/supplements (if needed) along with written instructions for their typical daily schedule (feeding times/portions, medication times/dosages, outside routine, and veterinarian/health information), and a harness (preferable) and leash. What sets me apart from other sitters is this: when an owner/family books boarding for their dog(s), that time is exclusive to that owner/family only. I will not board pets from different families at the same time, ensuring everyone's safety (and sanity). When you book with me, you can rest assured that your pet(s) are receiving one-on-one attention and care. Because I am a full-time online student, my schedule provides the flexibility needed to cater to specific care needs - either in my home or in yours (drop-in visits). Prior to booking, please make sure that you are aware of my cancellation policies. ***Also, please note, that unless specifically asked not to by the owner, photos and the name of your pet may be used in promotional activities - sharing to Facebook/Instagram. Private details such as the owners' names, address, location, etc will be strictly held in confidence.*** Howdy! My name is Sheila! While I live inside the city limits of Ottawa and I do NOT have a fenced in backyard, my family has a small farm in Franklin County, KS (20 acres) that can be used to take doggies out for a run. I LOVE animals and have a huge heart for critters of all sizes. I have cared for dogs, cats, farm animals (cattle, pigs, horses, donkeys, chickens/fowl, etc) since I was a little kid. Very rarely could I be found without some kind of critter tucked under my arm (pet chicken named, Elvis!), and carrying on conversations , playing tag, veterinary, etc with my lucky friend of the moment. :) I absolutely adore dogs and cats, and believe them to be members of my family. My last doggie, a female basset hound, Sammie, found her divine purpose in making sure the couch didn't float away! She crossed the rainbow bridge several months ago after living to age 12, but she will remain in my heart forever. I also have 3 kitties, who I adore: Oliver, Remi, and Finneus. It has been often said that cats have you and you don't have cats. That's so true! I am a SERVANT to 3 cats. :D You will love the personal attention that your furbaby will receive. I treat each animal as if they were my own - even sleeping next to them on a couch or bed. Wherever I am, they are also allowed. I have a keen sense of animal well being, having had dogs and cats my entire life. I have extensive experience caring for animals with special needs (diabetes, paralysis, cancer, senior animals, special dietary/medicinal needs, sick/injured/rehabilitating, etc). As well, I have several friends that are very connected to veterinary sources that offer help and advice when needed. Being a full time student at home all day, I have a wide open schedule to devote to caring for your animals. In this way, we are helping each other out - you are providing me company (giving me my doggie "fix") and the ability to share my love for animals, and you are receiving top-notch care, in a homey atmosphere. I'm available anytime! FARM SITTING: Also, farm sitting is available! This includes pet care inside and outside, along with tending to farm animals (feeding, watering, mucking, etc). Rate for farm sitting is $85/day (up to 20 noses; $10 for each additional animal) + 50¢/per mile each way, with option for sitter to stay at owner's home during the booked time. If sitter stays at owner's home, owner is responsible for food and beverage for sitter, or a daily per diem for for expenses, whichever owner prefers. If an animal requires special medical attention (injections, bottle feeding, exercise, etc., an extra fee of $15/day applies. Having lived in a farm over half my life, I have experience with cattle, horses, donkeys, pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, guineas, turkeys and some goats/sheep. I understand and have experience mending fences when needed, feeding with a tractor, an mechanically minded and able to do repairs when needed. I have worked with cattle continually while living on the farm - sorting, loading, doctoring and birthing, as well as bottle feeding. The biggest farm job I've ever tended to was a custom feeding operation with about 150 cows that were fed twice per day - a mix of grains, sileage, and hay (delivered with the tractor), 1 horse, 2 pigs (bring fattened for consumption), 40 chickens, 30 feeder calves, 2 bottle calves, 2 Holstein nurse cows and 1 dog... All on a section of land. Chores were done twice per day. I am currently a full-time student studying online, at home, so I have plenty of time to devote to and love on your precious furbabies. While I do not have a fenced in yard on my property, I have access to my family's 20 acre farm for exercise and exploration. Additionally, I live within 500' of the local rail-trail and less than a mile from a leash less doggie park so they can run to their heart's content. However, I tend to only visit the dog when there are not many, if any, other dogs occupying the space (for safety reasons). When working with a client's furbabies in their home, we treat them as if they are my own. I carefully mind the owner's instructions and preferred schedule. I have several repeat customers. Additionally, any time a client books an in-home boarding service (boarding your pet in my home), those dates are EXCLUSIVELY yours. I will not board pets from two different families together. This ensures the health and safety of everyone involved.

About: History: I have had dogs all throughout my life, starting in middle school when my mom and I adopted our first- under the agreement that I had full responsibility! Since then, I have had three dogs on my own, and I have provided care for my friends' and families' pets while they're away. Currently: I volunteer at Missouri Pit Bull Rescue weekly, and I have had several foster dogs through them as well. I dog-sit for my neighbors regularly. I live with my husband and our dog, Bully Porter, a 5-year-old spayed female pitbull mix. I am a registered nurse of over 12 years, and I also have experience administering medications to dogs. I am the main point of contact for the medical team through Missouri Pit Bull Rescue. I typically work from home, and during which, I have time through the day to care for pups who come to our home. Sometimes, we have a foster through the rescue, and during that time, I will need to turn off daycare/boarding. In the mornings, evenings, or over my lunch break, I can take dogs on walks or do drop-in visits. I am off most weekends as well. I do ask for flexibility with drop-in times, as my schedule may change with meetings and having to go in-person, however, I do my best to be accommodating, and I stay in communication. We have a 5' hog wire fenced yard with plenty of room for dogs to run around and play. Our female pit mix is SUPER friendly and would love to keep your dog company and play! We have 2 crates available (one medium, one XL, and when not fostering, two XL) if needed.
About: I have owned pets since I was very young and I became more responsible with helping take care of our pets around the age 10 or 11. I have given bathes, walks, baby sat, and clipped nails for friends and family. I also work hard to train my babies on commands. They are usually very well behaved but they are both still quite young and get so overwhelmed with excitement when meeting new people and/or dogs. I also know how to administer puppy shots and give pills/capsules. Many people trust me to watch after their beloved fur babies and I hope you will feel the same way. I have a part time job but I will have plenty of time to check on the pups and give them attention and potty breaks. Weekends are typically better for boarding and all day care but I maybe able to pull it off during the week. Other wise I’m open for walks and pop ins in the afternoon and evenings. I live right next to a park where I would take you dog for some exercise and potty time and there is a dog park about 2 miles from my home. I have crates if they are needed. I have 2 roommates who love dogs. I also have 2 dogs of my own who absolutely love to make new friends with dogs and will definitely help your babies burn off some energy.

About: I grew up on a farm and I have experience dealing with all kinds of animals, and it's a passion of mine to love and take care of animals. For extra money in high school, I would dog sit for family friends while they were on vacation, and I still dog/cat sit for my friends and family occasionally. Recently, both of my childhood dogs passed away. I can't have dogs in my apartment and I feel a longing to bond and spend time with dogs. This job is a wonderful way to utilize my animal experience and also fulfill my need to interact with dogs. I currently work as a real estate agent, so my schedule is very flexible. If you would like your dog walked or cared for routinely throughout the week, let me know and I will be happy to fit you into my schedule! I do not offer dog boarding for clients since I am not allowed dogs/cats in my apartment. I do however love to dog sit or just come by during the day to take them on a walk. I understand animals are a part of the family and it takes a lot of trust to allow someone else to take care of them. I always send you pictures of your pet when I’m caring for them. Not only does this assure you that your pet is in good hands, but who doesn’t love a random picture of their furry friend?!
About: Growing up, we always had dogs in the house. I am experienced in feeding, bathing, walking, playing, and caring for dogs. I have dog-sat for family friends on and off over the years. I have experience with dogs of all sizes, ranging from Dobermans to miniature dachshunds! I am a college student at OU, so I have flexibility during the day between classes to give dogs potty breaks, feed the dogs, and provide some play time/exercise! Most weekends I am not available due to athletics for the college. I will make sure to use only treats and toys provided from your home unless instructed otherwise. If your dog needs to be put in a crate, I will safely and calmly insert and release the dog from their crate! The dog will be played with safely!
About: I have grown up around dogs my entire life and have been taking care of my own for 6 years now. Currently have a black lab mix, golden retriever, and chihuahua in our l family. I currently work full-time up in Leavenworth. Services are limited to weekends and possible weekday evenings. I have no problame getting up early in the mornings or staying up late in the evenings to care for your pets! I am a very active individual who walks our two big dogs on a daily basis. Not afraid to care for or walk multiple big dogs at the same time. I will give your animals the attention and love that they deserve!
About: I’ve had dogs since I was an infant and grew to love to train dogs and have been actively caring for/training dogs for 15 years. My family has always asked me when leaving town to care for their animals and have always been happy with the care given while they were gone. Currently working part-time so I’m very free to check on/exercise your pups! I have a lot of experience with a lot of different tools used with dogs; from a flat collar to an e-collar to a prong collar. My three dogs are very well-behaved and are dog, cat, and kid friendly. I currently work through a local animal shelter so my hours tend to change from week to week, but I tend to be extremely flexible! Let me know your needs and I can plan accordingly! I see my clients animals just as my own, I would want my babies to be extremely well taken care of and all of my boxes checked, ducks in a row! So I understand clients wanting the same. I will be just as diligent with your fur babies as I am with my own, because I wouldn’t expect anything less.
About: I have had a variety of animals in my home since I was born and I love each and every one. I have taken care of puppies as well as older dogs. I’m not currently working, so I am almost always open to look after your babies! I am available all week and some weekends, just depending on the week! I can do whatever is needed for your pets whether that be kenneling, fenced yard, etc. I take my dog out on a leash at my house so i’m also good with that.

About: Hi, I’m Sarah! I’m 18 years old and have loved animals for as long as I can remember. I grew up with both dogs and cats, and I currently have four dogs of my own, so I’ve always been surrounded by animals. I work at a dog daycare in Lawrence, where I care for dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages, and personalities. I supervise playgroups, feed dogs, give medications when needed, and make sure they’re safe and having a good time. Working there has given me experience with all kinds of dogs and taught me how important it is to pay attention to each pet’s individual needs. I’m also experienced with cats and am happy to care for both friendly, outgoing cats and the more shy, independent ones. I recently graduated from high school and will be starting my pre-veterinary studies at JCCC this fall. My dream is to become a veterinarian! My boyfriend, Cameron, is 20 and helps me with pet sitting. He loves animals just as much as I do and has plenty of experience with them. He helped train our German Shepherd from puppyhood and grew up with several cats, so he’s comfortable caring for both dogs and cats. I just like to let everyone know that Cameron may accompany me on visits or overnight stays. We both genuinely enjoy spending time with animals, and we’ll make sure your pets are loved and well cared for while you’re away. I work Tuesday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, but I’m available before work, during my breaks, and after work. So I am able to check your pets every 4-5 hours. I also have full availability on weekends and Mondays. Pet care fits naturally into my schedule, and I do my best to be flexible to meet your pet’s needs. When I’m caring for your pet in their own home, my goal is to keep their routine as normal and stress free as possible. Whether that’s feeding, walks, playtime, medications, or plenty of cuddles, I’ll make sure they get the attention and care they deserve. I know how important it is to trust someone with your pets, and I treat every animal as if they were my own. I’d love the chance to meet you and your pets! Feel free to reach out with any questions or to set up a meet and greet.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy.
