Stephanie did a great job with Luca, and they bonded after a day or two. She sent me pictures of him while I was gone, and even washed all the linens she used. Will definitely be using her again!

Craig and Chelsea were amazing. They took such great care of our house and our dog. She was so well loved and taken care of. Our dog is a very anxious dog and she had a blast with them. They were so flexible as well when our flight was delayed a day and they made sure our dog was still well taken care of. So glad we had them taking care of our pup!

Sarah was absolutely wonderful as an overnight sitter for my senior pup, Pozie. I could tell how comfortable and at ease Pozie was from the photos she sent, as well as Pozie’s disposition when I arrived back home! The communication and frequent updates and photos were so appreciated - as this was my first time leaving Pozie with someone she didn’t know well. I couldn’t recommend Sarah enough!

Whether your dog needs a fun walk, companionship while you’re away, or extra attention and care, I’ll treat them like they’re my own. I have a beagle of my own, he’s 5 years old and he’s my absolute world! I’m patient, attentive, and committed to keeping your pet safe, happy, and comfortable. I’ll also keep you updated with messages and photos, so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. I look forward to meeting you and your furry best friend! I work Monday thru Thursday as a dental assistant, so I am usually free all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! Pet care fits easily into my routine because I dedicate time specifically for it. I’m available on Fridays and throughout the weekend, giving me plenty of time to provide walks, playtime, feeding, and lots of attention. I enjoy being active and spending time with dogs, so I’m committed to making sure every pet receives reliable, loving care while their owner is away. About: Hi everyone! My name is Emma and I am 18 years old headed into college this fall (aug 24th)! I have had dogs since I was little. Now being 18, that means it’s been a little while 😆. I have dog sat for friends and family many many times before. Ranging from as little as just overnight, up to about 2 weeks! I love to sit and hang out with them, throw the ball back and forth, and of course give them lots of treats and snuggles! I completely get that leaving your dog with a stranger is a nerve wracking thing to have to do! Having done it with my own dogs, my goal is to give your animal care that brings you, and of course them, lots of comfort. As well as making sure it’s a relaxing experience for both parties! I’ve worked with dogs many age ranges. I’ve had a dog who was 6 and in her prime years, but i’ve also had a puppy we got when she was 6wks! I have experience with elderly dogs who need medications, special care instructions, and just help getting around. I am currently working a part time job at a daycare. My weekends and afternoons are completely free though! I only work about 6-8 hours a day and am always home doing school work, or just spending time with animals of my own! My dog loves to throw the ball around and run after it. We don’t have a big yard so we throw it inside for her and she runs back and forth with it! She is also crate trained so she knows when it’s time to go to bed and puts herself right to sleep! I have had a dog in the past that did not use a crate and she was an angel! Both animals i have had loved to run outdoors and go for walks and always did well on leash. My cats have always been pretty laid back, getting rid of most of their energy outside exploring! Both cats I have had loved to eat, so it was always a regular routine to check their bowls to make sure there was no bare spots anytime you walk by! They’ve always loved to sit and snuggle and get lots of pets when i get home in the afternoons.

I can’t recommend Heather highly enough. She was so sweet with our dogs and very thorough during our initial meeting. While we were out of town, she stayed at our house and went above and beyond caring for babies and our space- she vacuumed at the end of her stay and even shoveled our deck, both without being asked. Each day we were gone, Heather sent us multiple photos and updates. We would book with her again in a heartbeat!

About: I am a flexible working professional. Most of my family members have either a dog or a cat that I have taken care of for as long as I can remember. I love all dogs no matter the size or breed. I am a previous collegiate student-athlete and am still very active, so playing with your pets and taking them for walks is right up my ally. I am happy to help with house sitting, dropping by, or taking them for a walk. I look forward to helping you out with your care needs for your pets and spending time with them. I am currently in the off-season of my full-time job, so my schedule is very flexible. I will need to travel some weekends for work, but besides that I am flexible during the week and on weekends. My priority is to respect a client's home and provide the best care for their animals. I create an atmosphere built on trust and dependability.

We recently had the pleasure of having Katherine watch our two Labrador Retrievers—one a gentle giant at 12 ½ years old and 100 pounds, and the other a lively 7-year old at 65 pounds—and we couldn’t be more grateful for the exceptional care she provided. Katherine followed our instructions to a tee, making sure both dogs got all the exercise they needed, despite their different energy levels. She also took outstanding care of our home. Her genuine love for animals shone through in the way she handled our dogs. We came home to two very happy and well cared for Labs. We would highly, highly recommend Katherine to anyone looking for a reliable, compassionate, and responsible pet sitter. She truly exceeded our expectations and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away.

About: As a pet owner myself, I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your furry family members. I have both a dog and a cat, which has given me hands-on experience caring for pets with different personalities and needs. I take my dog on daily walks, so I’m comfortable handling dogs and making sure they get the exercise, attention, and care they need. I am responsible, dependable, and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals. Whether your pet needs a walk, playtime, feeding, companionship, or overnight care, I will treat them with the same love and attention that I give my own pets. Cam was so great with our dog and two cats while we were away for the holiday weekend. He came to meet all the pets a couple of days before staying with us and our dog especially loved hanging out with him on the couch and going for walks while we were away. One of our cats is a finicky eater, and Cam was super mindful to make sure he was eating in a place that he was comfortable. 10/10 on Cam and would definitely rebook again! Thanks so much.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Orrs Island on Rover is $83.25 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 620 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Orrs Island. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Orrs Island walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Orrs Island maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Orrs Island choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Orrs Island. On Rover:

  • 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
