Jonas is an excellent communicator and shared lots of updates of our pups while we were away. One of our dogs has some anxiety with new people and overall needs a little extra time and skill and Jonas seemed to have no problems or concerns going above and beyond. We have already hired them for a future stay!

About: Hello! I’m a dependable and caring animal lover who understands that pets are family. Whether your dog needs a fun walk, companionship while you’re away, or extra attention and care, I’ll treat them like they’re my own. I have a beagle of my own, he’s 5 years old and he’s my absolute world! I’m patient, attentive, and committed to keeping your pet safe, happy, and comfortable. I’ll follow your instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, medications (if needed), exercise routines, and any special requests. I know every dog has a unique personality, and I take the time to make sure they feel relaxed and loved. I’ll also keep you updated with messages and photos, so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. I look forward to meeting you and your furry best friend! I work Monday thru Thursday as a dental assistant, so I am usually free all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! Pet care fits easily into my routine because I dedicate time specifically for it. I’m available on Fridays and throughout the weekend, giving me plenty of time to provide walks, playtime, feeding, and lots of attention. I enjoy being active and spending time with dogs, so I’m committed to making sure every pet receives reliable, loving care while their owner is away. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I make it a priority to keep their routine as normal as possible. I carefully follow all instructions for feeding, walks, playtime, medications (if needed), and any special care they require. I make sure they receive plenty of attention, exercise, and affection while keeping their environment clean, safe, and comfortable. I’ll also provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident that your pet is happy and well cared for while you’re away. I also can care for your pet in my own home where I do have my own dog who is a beagle and he’s very friendly and loves other pups, I also have three cats who love dogs!

Avery took wonderful care of our dog for a full week while we were on vacation. This was our first time using Rover, and he truly exceeded all of our expectations. He was incredibly communicative, providing updates that helped put our minds at ease while we were away. It made such a difference knowing our dog was in great hands. We’re so grateful for the care he provided and would absolutely recommend Avery to anyone looking for a trustworthy and attentive sitter.

Rachael absolutely crushed it. As someone with senior dogs who have specific preferences and routines (also are high-maintenance as heck), I’m very picky about their care when I’m not around. Rachael was communicative, gave updates unprompted and responded super quickly whenever I reached out. She was able to take on staying at my place with my 2 cats and 3 dogs on very short notice as well. I can’t say enough good things, 11/10

Highly recommend! Elizabeth took excellent care of my dog Gretel and my home. She went above and beyond making sure everything was just as I left it, if not better. She was prompt with communications and checked in regularly while I was away with updates and pictures. She was great with details and even offered to let Gretel out again if I was running late on my return. I would definitely ask Elizabeth to dog/house sit again! Thank you!

About: Hi everyone! My name is Emma and I am 18 years old headed into college this fall! I have had dogs since I was little. Now being 18, that means it’s been a little while 😆. I have dog sat for friends and family many many times before. Ranging from as little as just overnight, up to about 2 weeks! I love to sit and hang out with them, throw the ball back and forth, and of course give them lots of treats and snuggles! I completely get that leaving your dog with a stranger is a nerve wracking thing to have to do! Having done it with my own dogs, my goal is to give your animal care that brings you, and of course them, lots of comfort. As well as making sure it’s a relaxing experience for both parties! I’ve worked with dogs many age ranges. I’ve had a dog who was 6 and in her prime years, but i’ve also had a puppy we got when she was 6wks! I have experience with elderly dogs who need medications, special care instructions, and just help getting around. I am currently working a part time job at a daycare. My weekends and afternoons are completely free though! I only work about 6-8 hours a day and am always home doing school work, or just spending time with animals of my own! My dog loves to throw the ball around and run after it. We don’t have a big yard so we throw it inside for her and she runs back and forth with it! She is also crate trained so she knows when it’s time to go to bed and puts herself right to sleep! I have had a dog in the past that did not use a crate and she was an angel! Both animals i have had loved to run outdoors and go for walks and always did well on leash. My cats have always been pretty laid back, getting rid of most of their energy outside exploring! Both cats I have had loved to eat, so it was always a regular routine to check their bowls to make sure there was no bare spots anytime you walk by! They’ve always loved to sit and snuggle and get lots of pets when i get home in the afternoons.

Cam was so great with our dog and two cats while we were away for the holiday weekend. He came to meet all the pets a couple of days before staying with us and our dog especially loved hanging out with him on the couch and going for walks while we were away. One of our cats is a finicky eater, and Cam was super mindful to make sure he was eating in a place that he was comfortable. 10/10 on Cam and would definitely rebook again! Thanks so much.

We recently had the pleasure of having Katherine watch our two Labrador Retrievers—one a gentle giant at 12 ½ years old and 100 pounds, and the other a lively 7-year old at 65 pounds—and we couldn’t be more grateful for the exceptional care she provided. Katherine followed our instructions to a tee, making sure both dogs got all the exercise they needed, despite their different energy levels. She also took outstanding care of our home. Her genuine love for animals shone through in the way she handled our dogs. We came home to two very happy and well cared for Labs. We would highly, highly recommend Katherine to anyone looking for a reliable, compassionate, and responsible pet sitter. She truly exceeded our expectations and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away.

Kelly is a true gem! We are new to Rover so we had no experience and did not know what to expect. We could sense Kelly's genuineness and caring demeanor at our first meet and greet. Monroe was so well cared for while we were away for 5 days! Kelly went above and beyond in so many ways. Thank you for giving us this gift of time away with no worries about our little old Yorkie.

About: I've grown up with cats and dogs, and love spending time with them. I like to go for long walks, play with pets, or just hangout and keep them company. Also love art, and can paint a watercolor or acrylic portrait of your pet, if you like! I'm currently working full time from 8-4:30, but have plenty of time in the evenings! Also, most Wednesdays and Fridays I work from home, so I can help out during the day if I'm in your area. I will care for your pet in your home in accordance with whatever rules you follow, whether that's keeping them in certain areas and off furniture, or giving them plenty of freedom to run around and cuddle.

Thank you Sarah for staying in our place and keeping our elderly dog company for a few days while we were away. It looks like he relaxed quickly and enjoyed all the care and attention you gave him. Sarah (and Tony) took absolutely wonderful care of Florence while we were gone for a night! I got lots of updates and photos while we were away, and when we came home Florence was so calm and acted as if we never left-I could tell that she felt comfortable and got lots of attention and walks with Sarah. I will definitely ask them to care for Florence again!

We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter. She went far beyond basic care and truly treated our dogs like her own. When we returned, they were calm, relaxed, and clearly well loved—something that speaks volumes. Not only were our dogs exceptionally cared for, but our home was left absolutely meticulous. The level of attention, thoughtfulness, and genuine care she provided is something we’ve never experienced before. It’s clear that she truly loves what she does, and that caring for animals is more than just a job to her. Words honestly don’t do justice to the difference she made. We are so grateful and would trust her again without hesitation.

FAQs for House Sitting - Bailey Island

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Bailey Island on Rover is $77.7 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 628 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Bailey Island. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Bailey Island walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Bailey Island maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Bailey Island choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Bailey Island. On Rover:

  • 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
