Marissa is an excellent caretaker for our very energetic dog Squid. In fact, we're pretty sure Squid is eager for us to leave again so that Marissa will come back.

Michael is an excellent sitter. My dog Patch is glad to see Michael and he has no issues when I leave the house. When I come back Patch is relaxed and not hyper or anxious. Michael takes care of my Patch like it was his. Lots of butt scratches and belly rubs!! The pictures and videos he sends are so sweet and reassuring. I recommend him without reservation ! And my house is in order!!! Thank you Michael. 👍

Eliza was absolutely terrific. She was so patient with our senior dog (15 yrs old) Also, our new rescue (9 yrs old) we have been workibg on house training her. Eliza spent the nights here as well (which not all dog sitters will do). I would highly recommend Eliza. She was here for 7 nights 8 days. Great personality and easy to communicate with. Bonnie

But with the love of having pet myself it sometimes it can be hard to get home after a long day or running late I am here to help as much as possible I will perfect your pets as if they would be my own fur babies. About: I'm someone who treats every pet like my own! I've taken care of my childhood dog and cats since I was very young, as well as my extended family and friend's animals. I consider myself dependable and patient, and I love giving pets plenty of attention, playtime, walks, and cuddles. I'm comfortable caring for all ages and personalities, and I'm happy to follow each pet's specific routine and needs. My goal is for your pet to feel safe, loved, and spoiled while you're away! Pet care fits naturally into my schedule because I enjoy being active and spending time with animals. I'm in my last semester of college and have a flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate plenty of time for walks, playtime, feeding, and cuddles. My main focus is to keep your pet comfortable, safe, and on their normal routine. I'll follow any feeding, walking, medication, or care instructions you provide. I also want you to feel comfortable while you're away, so I'm happy to send updates and pictures so you know your pet is happy and well cared for!

About: I’ve grown up around dogs and have taken care of them since I was young! I love them way more than people. I am counting down till I can have my own little pack of dogs. I’m used to dogs that pull on leashes, but it’s a plus when they’re an easy walker :) I currently am in college so whenever I don’t have classes I am completely free! Once a month for one weekend I work on a military base, but other than that I would love to spend my time with a pup! I am willing to do whatever to keep your dog’s routine normal. I am used to crate training, routine dog walks, etc. No judgement from me :)

About: I have worked at a doggie daycare. I also grew up with dogs and cats my entire life. My parents have two dogs and two cats, and I have a cat. I am a college student with lots of breaks in my schedule to check in on pets or take them for walks. I also have a part-time job in the afternoon, but it is only 1 day a week and every other weekend. I would listen to the client's rules on how to take care of their pet(s). Depending on what the client wants I would do my best to accommodate their needs.

About: I’ve been around animals my whole life and truly love caring for them. I grew up with a variety of pets including cats, dogs, chickens, ducks, and bunnies, which gave me a deep appreciation for animals of all kinds. Over the years, I’ve gained hands-on experience providing pet care, including overnight stays, administering medications, and keeping pets comfortable and happy in their home environment. I always focus on maintaining each pet’s normal routine—whether that’s mealtime schedules, daily walks, playtime, or a bit of training and structure. I’m also experienced in caring for senior pets and can support their specific needs with patience and care. My goal is to treat every pet like family and give you peace of mind while you're away. I’m happy to send daily updates and photos so you can stay connected and see all the love your pets are getting. Send me a message any time for a quick meet & greet or a free short walk—no commitment, just pets and peace of mind! I have both a dog and cat that I take care of every day. My dog is a four year old energetic lab/springer mix and I have a two year old orange kitty. I love getting outside and having playtime or going on walks with my dog and playing with my cat. Whether I’m caring for pets in my home or visiting yours, their safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I create a calm, clean, and pet-friendly environment, following any specific instructions you provide—like feeding schedules, medications, or routines. When pets stay with me, my home is set up to be a safe and welcoming space where they can relax and feel at ease. During drop-in visits, I’m respectful of your home and make sure to keep everything just as I found it. In all cases, I take the time to build trust and move at each pet’s pace to ensure they feel secure and loved. My goal is to make your time away as stress-free as possible—for both you and your pets.

Paige was amazing from start to finish. She was quick to respond to our request and open to come for a meet and greet so our pets would know her prior to her staying with them. She sent pictures daily with updates and even celebrated our dog's birthday with him while we were gone by getting him a birthday hat. We came home to happy pets and an incredibly clean home. We will definitely be reaching out to Paige with any pet sitting needs in the future.

FAQs for House Sitting - Onalaska

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Onalaska on Rover is $31.08 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 138 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Onalaska. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Onalaska walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Onalaska maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Onalaska choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
