“Bethany was absolutely amazing with all 3 of our girls who have different personalities. She was able to adjust and meet the needs of each fur baby. I checked on the girls halfway through our trip and Bethany gave me a good report with pictures. She was very respectful of our home.”

“Taylor is the absolute best. HIGHLY recommend. She was so great about giving updates on our dog the entire time and treated panda as her own! She will definitely be my go to girl moving forward! Taylor went above and beyond all expectations. Thank you so much, Taylor!!!”

“Alexis was perfect. She navigated a nervous and anxious dog at the start, and he’s as happy as ever when I came home. I know he had fun and Alexis’ updates were perfect. Great communication and flexibility. Definitely recommend and will be using her again. Very very happy.”

“We love Jo! We always have anxiety about traveling without our pups, but she gives us such peace of mind. She always sends lots of pictures and updates, and when we come back the dogs are happy and not stressed. She’s the best!”

“Valerie was awesome. The day we were supposed to have our meet and greet I had to take Gidget to the vet because she was not eating. The vet wanted to keep her a few hours which pushed back out appointment time. Valerie was very understanding and flexible. Valerie was awesome with each of our dogs who have very different personalities. She was able to give Gidget the medication the vet has prescribed. Valerie contacted me to see if she could try something to help Gidget to eat. She went over and beyond to take care of our girls. Valerie contacted me daily to let me know how each of the girls were doing. Valerie was also very respectful of our home. I am very grateful for her!”

“Daisy did a terrific job with our 2 girls. She gave them so much attention. She sent updates and pictures everyday. She even called when she noticed Pepper was having problems with her ears. And took her to the Vet for us. We highly recommend Darsy. We will definitely use her again. If we could we would give her 10 stars!”

“This was my first time leaving my kitty alone and he made me feel so comfortable! I was updated regularity with pictures, his communication was great, and he was able to give my baby medicine no problem. I also came home to a clean house after he house sat. Communication was great and I will definitely rebook next time I need a sitter!”

“Laura came through for me at the very last minute. My original sitter for the pets couldn’t make it. She was able to watch our dogs with not a lot of notification. I’m very thankful. She did a great job with communication and I would definitely recommend. Our dogs seemed to take to her immediately!”

“Amber is an incredible pet sitter! This was our first time leaving our three dogs with someone we didn’t know, and it was in our own home. She kept us updated daily with photos and videos, and our dogs were so happy and comfortable with her. We felt so relieved and were able to relax and enjoy our trip. We highly recommend Amber’s services and will definitely use her again in the future.”

About: I've owned dogs my whole life and have become skilled in caring for pets. I currently have a Golden Retriever named Charlie and would love to have doggy friends to visit! I have cared for many types of dogs during my life and have experience with dogs of all sizes and temperments. I work everyday with nine hour work days (7am to 4pm) Monday through Thursday, with an eight hour day (7am to 3pm) on every other Friday giving me a free day every other week. I make time every morning and evening to take our dog Charlie on a walk. I make sure they get daily exercise letting them go for walks and I also have a small fenced in backyard. When I am home I will provide them with playtime l as well. I will provide scheduled feedings or space for free feeding dogs as well.
“Elizabeth was the best thing that happened for us as we were cancelled last minute by another sitter. She was definitely an upgrade. She went WAY above and beyond for our boy Samson. She took great care of him and loved him like family. He even got a couple baths while we were gone. She responded quickly to our numerous text messages and sent many pictures over our 10 day trip. Our house was tidy when we returned and we even had some home baked cookies on the counter. We will definitely use her to watch Samson in the future.”

“Taelor was amazing! I could have not asked for a better pet sitter for my two pups! She made sure to send me a text at every visit and sent at least 4-5 pics each time. She also was kind enough to bring in some packages that had been delivered while I was gone. I will definitely use her again and highly recommend her!”

“Jessica was simply wonderful. We had a disaster happen with a sitter in the past, so I was really scared when our friend wasn't able to watch them while we were out of town. But during the meet and greet, both pups loved her right away, even belle who's our nervous one. It just felt like a good fit upon meeting her. She agreed to housesit our 2 little pups, and she proved us right! Jessica showed up when she said she would, kept us updated throughout her stay with details and pics, walked them several times a day, and even took them on a car ride complete with pup cups as a special treat. The dogs were smiling in every pic she sent. It simply couldn't have been a better experience. Thank you so much, Jessica, you are our go-to sitter from now on 🐾💜”

About: I Have taken care of pets all my life. My family and friends have always been surrounded by their presence. I enjoy taking care of them and giving them all the love that they deserve. I know all pets have different personalities, some are more playful, some are more peaceful. Some trust more than others. Whatever the case is, I am patient to get to know them and understand their needs. I am very blessed to have my wife next to me always loving the pets that surround us. We have pet sitter many times together and is just a bunch of love around. We love that! It makes us more happy than we already are! One day even our future babies will enjoy that with us too! I am currently only attending college online so I have plenty of availability. I have time throughout the week and sometimes the weekends too. I will always try to work it out. Plus my wife is always there for me, so she can always take the times that I cannot. I do not have any pets so if I was to receive pets in my home they do not have to worry about other pets. That way they are more comfortable!
“Christine was awesome! She was so good with our little guy and helped him settle into a new place. I booked way in advanced and she was the first sitter that did not cancel and checked in with me. 10/10 would recommend!”

I love getting to know dogs because every one is individually special in their own way and I'm here to cater to all their needs possible! I used to have a big British Bulldog that I took care of during my middle school and high school years. Which I miss dearly, but I just love all dogs in general by their unconditional love and energy. Working part time, availability will change here and there but I keep my schedule updated on here so we can get you and your furry friends taken care of I have a fenced yard and a great neighborhood park nearby, plenty of space and I love being active with them so they'll be able to get some loose energy out too!

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Okaloosa Island
Darsy was great with our two pups! We decided on house sitting because our newest addition has been picky about other dog friends she meets. Darsy provided updates and photos daily and stuck to their routine. We will definitely be reaching out to Darsy in the future.

Margaret was absolutely phenomenal with our crew! I needed a last minute house sit for our 2 dogs and 2 cats and she exceeded my expectations! She shared updates and pictures several times a day and took excellent care of not only our furry gang but our house as well. It was neat as a pin upon our return and we were greeted by happy, smiling pups. We are so grateful we found Margaret!

Andrea took care of my 2 elderly dogs the way I would! She is very organized, listens, and writes down everything you say about their needs. She asks questions for clarification and immediately responds to any concerns you have. She is punctual, caring, and i have never met a sitter who communicates so well with both messages and pictures. She’s incredible and definitely a star sitter ❤️🐶🐶❤️

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Okaloosa Island walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Okaloosa Island maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Okaloosa Island choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
