“Whitney has visited my 4 year old cat Clark on multiple occasions. On the most recent, I had to go away for the weekend, and Clark had gotten sick a few times earlier in the week. Needless to say, I was nervous to leave him. But Whitney was so responsive to all of my concerns and requests, and took really good care of him. For dog walking, I make sure each walk is tailored to your dog’s energy level and needs. Whether it’s a brisk, active walk or a calm stroll, I will make sure that your dog is enriched and having fun. I always prioritize safety by using secure leashes and staying aware of the environment. I also give plenty of positive reinforcement, playtime, and bathroom breaks during our outings. During drop-in visits, I follow your instructions closely. I will be checking food and water, giving pets affection and attention, cleaning up as needed, and making sure they feel comfortable and cared for while you’re away. My goal is to maintain their routine and keep them happy until you return!

About: My first full-responsibility pet was a hamster named Herman at the age of 8, but growing up, I also contributed to the care of the many dogs my family had at various points in time. I was scooping the backyard and (when we were away) walking the dogs even earlier. When I was older, and the rest of my family went out of town, I was solely responsible for their care. Though I don't currently have a dog of my own, I regularly walk and sit for friends of mine that do (I joke that that's how I get my fix). I'm patient with puppies and careful with seniors, and overall, I understand and respect a dog's body language. I can handle high energy as long as it's not agressive! In addition to cats and dogs, I'm happy to take care of exotic/small animals, top off fish tank water, water plants, etc. I've personally cared for birds, rabbits, hamsters, and fish, and I'm very knowledgeable on general husbandry and willing to research/listen if you have an animal I'm unfamiliar with. Also, I won't overfeed your fish :) (it's happened to me). I'm working full time, so weekday drop ins would happen on my way to or from work (or later in the evening). Generally about 8AM in the mornings or 4PM or later in the afternoons. On weekends, I volunteer at DCHS 1-4 on Saturday, but I am otherwise free :) Over everything else, I respect the animals' wishes. If an animal is shy or frightened, I won't force them to interact. If they're playful, I'll play with them. I try to understand and use the body language of the animal I'm caring for, and I am always on the lookout for signs of stress/illness and will immediately contact you if anything seems off to determine next steps.
