“Angel was very sweet and understanding. I had gotten a bonus last minute and was able to fly home for Christmas but no one was willing to watch my kitty for me. She stepped up and made sure she was taken care of and even eased my worries of leaving my kitty alone for the first time. I definitely recommend her!”

About: I love animals. In the past I volunteered at my local animal shelter to take care of pets and I loved it. I know how much I hate worrying about my pets being taken care of when I'm gone so I want to make sure that when a vacation or an emergency comes around you know your furry family is taken care of and in good hands. I've dealt with dogs that are as small as a chihuahua to dogs that weight more than I do. My schedule is very open so I'm flexible to take care of your pets to the fullest extent you need to feel comfortable. I've also taken care of senior pets that neerequire medications daily in the morning and at night.

About: I have taken care of family and friends’s dogs before. I own a 9mo old male doberman and I’ve taken care of him since he was 2 months old. I potty trained him and we run over a mile every weekday when the weather allows. I used to take care of my mom’s senior schnauzer who used to have frequent seizures during his last year of life. I gave him his medicine and we used to walk twice a day. I’m currently working part-time so I have plenty of time to spend with and to take care of your fur babies. I am mostly available during the weekends and weekdays after 5pm. I might also have some weekdays off, based on my week’s schedule. I have a male 1y/o Dobbie who is very friendly and playful. When in home I can take the dogs to the dog park. Typically, I take the dogs to the dog park 3 times a day. We play and cuddle together on the sofa.

About: I've been caring for animals since I was 10 years old, so pets aren't a side hobby for me. They've been part of my everyday life for as long as I can remember. Over the years I've cared for dogs, cats, and even snakes, which has taught me how to read each animal's personality, spot when something's off, and keep them comfortable when their favorite person is away. I'm especially comfortable with puppies and kittens. I know they need extra patience, frequent potty breaks, close supervision, and plenty of play to burn off energy. Your little one will be safe, entertained, and kept on track with any training you've started. What also sets me apart is how I communicate. You'll get regular photo and video updates, so you never have to wonder how your pet is doing. I stick to your routine, from feeding times to walks to bedtime quirks, because consistency helps pets feel safe. As a Killeen local, I understand how busy life gets for working families and military families. Whether it's a weekend trip, a long work week, or a TDY, I treat your pet like my own and your home with the same respect. Pet care is already part of my daily rhythm. I build my schedule around feedings, walks, playtime, and updates, so your pet gets consistent attention. In my home, pets get a safe, clean space, their usual food and routine, plenty of play, and supervised time with me. In your home, I follow your routine exactly, keep everything tidy and secure, and send photo updates so you know your pet is happy and comfortable.

About: I have hands-on experience caring for animals and understand that every pet has different needs, personalities, and routines. I have experience working with a variety of animals and am comfortable providing feeding, fresh water, playtime, exercise, basic cleanup, and attentive supervision. I also have experience caring for plants, so I am happy to help keep your home and plants cared for while you are away. My background in zoology has given me additional knowledge about animal behavior, care, and responsible handling. I take pet care seriously and will treat your pets with patience, kindness, and the same attention I would want for my own animals. I have school on Mondays and Wednesdays, but I have flexibility on the other days of the week. I can work pet care into my routine by making time for walks, playtime, feeding, check-ins, and giving pets the attention they need. As a zoology student, I genuinely enjoy working with animals and am happy to make their care a regular part of my week. I care for pets by following their normal routines and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I provide fresh food and water, walks, playtime, attention, and basic cleanup as needed. I also pay close attention to each pet’s individual personality, needs, and instructions from their owner. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I respect their space and make sure everything is kept clean and secure.

About: I’m very passionate about pets. I have a few of my own! I would say I connect with pets more than humans, they are so much more calmer and fun to play with. They make life so much more easier and God’s blessings. Pet care fits into my daily and weekly routine due to my availability is very open. I love animals so much and it brightens my day to be with them. I would treat anyone’s pet like it was my own! I love getting my steps in and I believe a pet should be healthy and active as well. About: Long term, short term, drop-ins, walks, you name it. I have been actively providing care to pets since I was in high school and I could not love it more. I cannot remember a time where dogs were not a priority in my life. For the past 5 years, I worked for a family owned boarding facility as a kennel assistant, quickly turned lead, and then to manager! I am fully comfortable with dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments. I can safely administer medications, including topical, oral, and injectable. If your pet needs routine brushing, ear cleaning, eye drops, etc., I am happy to help. I am also very good at a mani/pedi for your pet as long as they are comfortable with it. I will never torture a pet to trim their nails. Most recently, I have been working as a CCR for a large veterinary hospital. If there was ever a concern or I noticed something off with your fur baby, I have an understanding of veterinary medicine and care to help assess the situation and make sure your baby will be okay. My schedule is flexible for new pet friends daily and weekly. My husband and I are new to the area and I currently do not work. I have access to Fort Cavazos for anyone in need on post! I will be sure to keep my calendar as accurate and updated as I can. For all of my boarding friends, your doggo will be treated as if they were my own. Brew will make sure of it ;) Our home is well maintained, clean, safe, and has a large fenced in backyard.

FAQs for Pet Sitting - Oakalla

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
