About: Calm, experienced animal care provider in Northampton with years of hands-on experience around animals and therapeutic riding programs. I’ve raised and trained my own four dogs from 8 weeks old, including Canine Good Citizen-level training, and have safely handled dogs in therapeutic environments. I offer dependable, thoughtful care focused on safety, routine, communication, and helping pets feel secure. I currently offer pet sitting on a selective basis so I can provide focused, dependable care and maintain consistent routines for each pet. I require a meet and greet initial assessment for you to meet me and for me to assess your dog. Best fit will be with dogs who enjoy the company of my dog Coco (a Shih Tzu Dauchshund mix) but evening visits, weekends, vacation coverage, and overnight care are fine for dogs that perfer human company. I keep my service area manageable to ensure reliable communication, punctual visits, and attentive care for every animal. I focus on creating a calm, safe, and consistent environment where pets can feel comfortable and secure while their owners are away. I carefully follow feeding schedules, medication instructions, walking routines, and household preferences, and I communicate reliably with updates and photos.
“Thomas has been wonderful to our pup. They’ve great walks together. He’s kind and responsive, and we feel very comfortable having our big ball of energy of a pup with him!”

“Heather was communicative, thorough, and sent helpful photos and updates. Our elderly dog was well taken care and and we look forward to her watching him again!”

“So glad we found Rowyn! Communication is great, she is aware of dogs cues, body language & understands it can take time for a dog to adjust to new routines. We can tell our furbaby is happy to play with her by the fun pics we get! She is dependable and we are happy we found her to take care of our fur child !”

“Kristin was great with my reactive dog and two cats! She was patient and attentive to their specific needs and personalities. And gained my dogs trust quickly during the meet and greet. She was patient with my more skittish cat and made sure she ate and gave detailed updates. Highly reccomend!”

“Our two cats really liked Mickala. She went above and beyond helping us with several situations such as trimming a cat's nails and cleaning up some ants which got into the auto-feeders.”

“Noah was very pleasant, responsive, and great with the puppies. He is a great communicator and a very nice person. I’d recommend him very highly to look after anybody’s loved pets.”

About: I’ve spent over a decade working with animals, starting in Birmingham, Alabama, where I rescued, rehabilitated, and rehomed dogs through a bully breed rescue. I’ve also rescued and socialized cats and kittens, rehoming entire families. I currently have an active profile with Trusted House Sitters that has several five star reviews. After moving to New England, I worked at a cat hospice and later as a veterinary assistant at an emergency hospital. I’ve always had animals since I was a kid—especially cats—and I’ve also cared for reptiles, small pets like hamsters, and even fish. I’ve lived in many homes over the years and have often housesat for friends and family, so I’m comfortable caring for both pets and the spaces they love. I even have experience as a house cleaner and organizer and believe in leaving spaces better than I found them. Pet care fits easily into my daily routine. I work part-time as a cheer coach a couple of times a week and occasionally help with our family business, but my schedule is very flexible. This allows me to be available most days for quality time, pet visits, walks, and check-ins. I enjoy building pet care into my routine and making sure animals get the attention, exercise, and care they need while their owners are away. 🐾 Caring for animals is truly a passion of mine, and I treat every pet with the same love and attention I would give my own. Whether I’m caring for pets in my home or in a client’s home, their safety, comfort, and routine are always my top priorities. I believe every walk, play session, or visit should be a highlight of their day, and I make sure to give them plenty of affection, attention, and enrichment. I’m attentive to their behavior and needs so they feel safe, relaxed, and happy while their owners are away.
About: I’ve worked with animals for 10 years, starting as a dog groomer and day-care worker! I have done house and animal care for the last seven years as a way to hang out with pets while I can’t have my dog with me. I am happy with all breeds and ages of animals, and love to be active and outside so if your dog loves a good walk I will be their friend! I have just graduated from Smith (MSc) and am working as a swim coach. This is typically 6-9pm on weeknights but we are currently on a break! My schedule is flexible and I can often wfh during the day. I am happy to follow your guidelines based on what your pet and home needs are. I can’t accept animals at my house. Happy to communicate with you about what you are looking for!
“This is the second time Heather has watched my furry babies and she is fantastic! I appreciate how well she takes care of them and how thoughtful and kind she is. Thank you Heather!”

“Great experience with Emily. She's conscientious, reliable, sends terrific and fun updates on each visit, and is willing to take on extra tasks like taking our cat to the vet when we discovered he had worms right before leaving town. She and our cat Zeke really hit it off, as I'm sure she would with any animal. Would definitely book her again.”

About: I've worked in multiple areas of animal care including breeding and puppy development, dog daycare, and veterinary care. I have experience caring for all different breeds and ages of dogs! I don't have much professional experience with cats, but I have lived with many cats throughout my life and am a huge cat lover! I do not have any pets myself as I recently lost my dog. So i am in serious need of some dog time! I am available any time after 2:00pm sunday-thursday and all day friday and saturday(: some days i am available earlier than that, typically sundays and mondays im available around 12:30-1:00pm. I am happy to accommodate any of your pet's needs! I can walk, play, just give love, whatever makes your baby feel the most enriched and happy. I know every dog and cat has their own specific needs and I'm very dedicated to that! I live in a small studio apartment. There is plenty of great space to take walks near my house (i live right on the bike trail) but i do not have a fenced in yard. If this sounds like it could be suitable for your pet, i'm more than happy to board them(:
About: Fur mama to two kitties, besties with my roommates’ frenchie, and a proud fur auntie to many! I grew up in a family with dogs, cats, turtles, fish, birds, and reptiles, allowing me to develop a deep love for all animals. I've had various experience with house and pet sitting for friends, family, and neighbors since I was a kid. I've got plenty of experience with bathing, administering medications, trimming nails, cleaning up messes, and keeping animals enriched/entertained. I trust that you know how to care for your pets best and will follow instructions carefully, always asking clarifying questions if needed. I have a special place in my heart for those that are elderly and/or more shy/anxious that may need more time to warm up to folks. I'm honored to be considered for the care of your fur baby and look forward to meeting them. :) A little about me: I'm a 30 year old grad student pursuing an MSW at Smith College and will be graduating this summer to become a therapist. I spend my free time walking, journaling, reading, and traveling. I have two kitties who I rescued from shelters that have become my shadow - they follow me all over the home and I happily keep them entertained with lots of love, play time, and prompt meal times. With every client, I strive to be the type of sitter you'll want to rave about to your friends/family about and that your pet adores. Clients who book me to housesit for 7+ nights or 5+ walks/drop-ins get a complimentary personalized pawty favor from me! I am currently an MSW student at Smith College, my general availability is as follows: Sunday: All Day Monday: 11a-1p, 4-9pm Tuesday: 11a-1p, 4-9pm Wednesday: 8a-9pm Thursday: 1-9pm Friday: 1-9pm Saturday: All Day I prefer in-person Meet & Greets so that we can discuss the expectations we have for each other and your pet can get familiar with me. I'll want to know your pet's history of aggression, anxiety or bad habits so that we can prepare and have the appropriate plan in action for potential incidents. Tell me everything! I like being prepared for it all. I treat all animals under my supervision with as much love & care as I treat my own.
About: I have been caring for large dogs as part of my family since I was a child. Now, I have multiple clients for whom I provide dog-sitting services. I have experience looking after a wide range of dogs, from big to small and of all ages. When I was younger, I volunteered at Family Dog Rescue in San Francisco. More recently, I spent some time at Emerald City Pet Rescue, where I cared for small dogs and cats. Currently, I am responsible for the week-long care of a senior Labrador (for the past 4 years), and I help another household with hunting dog mixed breeds. I am also capable of handling both low-energy and high-energy dogs. I am currently on winter break until late January and have high availability. I am also willing to take care of people's pets when I am back home for other breaks and near my university (Amherst, MA) I always make sure to give pets their own time to adjust to me and their environment. I always want them to feel comfortable and safe, especially in their own home. If any kinds of issues come up, I will always make sure to notify the owner.
“Bena does so well w our cats and our chaotic schedule! Has often been able to do drop ins last minute, deal with our feeding and litter set ups as they change, and is so communicative. Love working w her.”

About: Hello my name is Nieves, I have been a devoted animal lover my whole life! I enjoy spending time with animals, and lived with my own beloved dog Roscoe Burgers, until he passed in the fall. I believe every animal is unique and special, and worth getting to know. I am looking to spend time with your furry loved ones, be it going on a walk, or give you complete peace of mind while you are away from home. I am a true animal lover, and can't wait to meet you and your little sweetums. I work from home 3 of the 5 days I work, and enjoy going on walks in the immediate area. I walk before I got to work, on my lunch break, and after work. This is a habit I developed with my beloved pooch, and would be happy to continue with your pup on the leash. I also am happy to provide check-ins, or stays as your pet sitting needs ebb and flow. I am pretty structured, and can stick to the plan, or instructions that you lay out for me. My own dog was sick for almost 2 years near the end of his life, so I am familiar with administering medications, and needing to stick to a stricter timeline as needed. I also enjoy collaging on my phone, and would love to give you picturesque updates of your sweet pal(s).

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Northampton
We have only wonderful things to say about Emily and her care of our cat, Micio, over three weeks. It was a long time to leave him but she is extremely kind and a great communicator who clearly went out of her way to give him attention and keep him stimulated on daily visits. We were never concerned about him knowing she was there. Her cat-action photography skills are second to none and we really appreciated seeing the often hilarious photos of him that let us know he was well. Emily also noticed and took care of any small issues in our house and our plants look better than before we left ;P thank you!!!!

Cassandra was great, amazing, and awesome! We had to get a sitter the very last minute. She was very attentive to both our dog and cat. She followed our request and instructions to the T. She provided detailed reports and is extremely responsive. We had our flights delayed and she was able to help us out with an extra visit. Will definitely rebook for next time - we loved her!
Preston just took care of my two elderly cats for the first time this past weekend, and he was wonderful all around. I am always a bit nervous about leaving them because of their ages, but I honestly worried less because I knew he would take good care of them. At the meet and greet, he asked good questions, took notes and photos, and clearly showed that he loved cats. While I was away, he sent multiple photos and videos at each visit as well as sending notes. He clearly loves cats and knows how to take care of them. I wouldn't hesitate to book him again.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
