“Johanna was so attentive to my anxious little guy, taking the extra time and care to experiment with different ways to coax him to eat his less preferred soft foods after his oral surgery. She kept everything clean and tidy for me, was responsive and even proactive, and provided detailed updates twice a day as I requested. She even left a thoughtful hand written note for us when I got home about her stay, it was really special and I feel lucky to have found her on here. Big thank you Johanna, and highly recommend!”

“Zach is an amazing pet sitter. His love for animals is obvious, and he did a great job watching our pets (2 dogs, one cat, and a guppy) while we were out of town. When he came for the meet/greet, he asked good questions and took notes to make sure he knew what each pet needed. When he was watching our pets he sent updates daily, as well as pictures to let us know how they were doing. He was a very active sitter, playing with them, walking them, working on some training with the puppy, and snuggling with them as well. We will absolutely ask him to come back the next time we need a sitter. Thank you, Zach for taking such good care of our pets!”

“I've used Halle's housesitting services twice now, and have had a fabulous experience with her both times. It is so nice to come home to a clean house and a happy dog!”

“laurin took great care of my dogs - two senior pups. she made sure special instructions were followed and ensured there were frequent checkins. great communication and left home clean. pups were very loved with laurin!”

“Brougan stayed overnight to watch my 1 adult cat and two 5 month old kittens. He paid attention to the feeding schedule and left the home as he found it. We are using him again!”

“Becky was really wonderful with our two dogs when we took a short vacation. My little adult chihuahua rescues 💕 loved her at first sight. Becky was quick to respond to messages and she sent several cute doggie photos everyday. She came to my home two times before we left. The Meet n Greet lasted more than an hour. The second time was for my dogs to be comfortable with her. I highly recommend using Becky!”

About: I started dog sitting when I was 14 years old for friends and family. I have always had at least two dogs in my life. Nothing makes me happier than a happy pet. I am an experienced pet sitter with plenty of experience walking dogs as well. I would love the opportunity to meet you and your furry friend. I have full flexibility as this is my only job. My availability should be completely open to whatever helps you and your fur baby’s needs. I want every pet to be as happy as possible. I will take care of/love your dogs as they are my own. Making sure they are able to exert their energy while also getting the proper love is always my top priority. Will be sure to update you as much as possible with some pictures as well.
“We are very happy to have found Summer on Rover. This is the third time we have worked with her, and she continues to be reliable, trustworthy, and communicative, and takes good care of our kitty.”

“Jennifer watched our standard poodle, Penny for two weeks at our home while we were in Europe. We could not have asked for a better experience. Jennifer was kind, great with Penny, thoughtful, organized, and profession. She updated us during our trip, sent pics of Penny, and made sure everything back home was in order so we could enjoy our trip without worry!”

“Mckinzie took excellent care of our pooch, house and yard! She was very sensitive to our shy dog’s personality and they ended up good friends! We appreciated her quick response time too. We will definitely use Mckinzie again in the future!”

“I had an outstanding experience with Erika dog sitting for multiple days. From the very beginning, communication was prompt, professional, and reassuring. When I was away, I received regular updates, photos, and messages that gave me complete peace of mind. Dogs were home happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for, which speaks volumes about the attention, patience, and genuine love Erika provided the pups. If you’re looking for someone who is dependable, trustworthy, and truly passionate about animals, I can’t recommend her highly enough. I will absolutely be using her services again and would confidently recommend her to anyone looking for exceptional pet care. Thank you for going above and beyond!”

“Simonne is the best!!! She did an outstanding job with our two dogs!! They both warmed up to her immediately. She kept us updated with pictures and treated them like they were her own. It is clear that she is an expert in caring for animals. We were so happy to find someone we can trust with our dogs and we hope to have her dog sit for us again in the future!”

Zach really has a way with animals - at the first meeting, he got down at my dog’s level and took time to connect with her. My Abby took to him immediately. I felt completely comfortable, leaving Zach with her overnight. He touched base (with pictures) while I was gone and even taught Abby a new trick! (He did ask if I was OK with him teaching her before I left.) The house was in great shape when I returned, but far more importantly, Abby was happy and well cared for. My original dog care plans with friends fell through and I booked Zach on short notice. Abby and I were very lucky he happened to be available. Thank you, Zach!

Taylor went above and beyond to care for our kitty Cal at our house while we were away for a week. She was communicative throughout and sent the cutest pictures. I could tell when I got home how well taken care of he was. She left the house super tidy and ready for us to return. We will absolutely be asking Taylor to sit again. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate pet/house sitter!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred North Olympia walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in North Olympia maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Olympia choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
