“Madalyn was awesome! She accepted our booking VERY last minute, then did a great job taking care of our pets, and sent us regular updates and pics which helped a ton with our peace of mind. 10/10 would recommend and we will definitely be rebooking!”

“We had such a great experience with Megan! She took amazing care of our dogs while we were away for the weekend... sharing frequent updates and photos that gave us so much peace of mind. It was clear our pups were happy, relaxed, and enjoying their time with her. We really appreciated that they got to stay in their routine at home and have so much love and attention. Highly recommend Megan and would absolutely book with her again!”

“Sydney and spouse Andrew were just fabulous with my dogs and left the house immaculate. I know they had fun plywuth them because Mia was way more animated than usual today! They are excellent communicators and had no challenges. Very grateful to find such trustworthy young people! Highly recommend! Piece of mind is a priority and you’ll have it with this duo!”

“A.J. took amazing care of our little guy! And he has separation anxiety, so he is not always the easiest to take care of! Would definitely highly recommend her and hire her again! She was fantastic!!”

“I cannot recommend Tiffany enough. This was the first time I had left my three dogs overnight since a major life change, so trusting someone with them was a really big deal for me. From the moment Tiffany met them, I could tell they were comfortable with her—even Angel, who is normally very cautious with new people, immediately trusted her. Tiffany was wonderful about communicating with me throughout the stay and sent pictures and updates that let me actually relax knowing my dogs were happy and safe. She followed their routines, gave them plenty of outside time and attention, and treated them like they were her own. They clearly adored her—Hera slept under the covers at her feet, while Buddy and Angel competed for space by her pillow. She also went above and beyond in little ways I never expected. When one of the dogs marked on a blanket, she went to wash it, discovered I had accidentally left laundry in the washer, rewashed everything, started it in the dryer, and even washed their food dishes. Most importantly, I came home to three happy, relaxed dogs who had obviously been loved and well cared for. Finding someone I genuinely trust with my dogs means more to me than I can explain, and Tiffany absolutely earned that trust. I have already arranged future care with her and would recommend her without hesitation.”

“Meryk is such a personable and friendly human, my big dogs took to him almost instantly! He was very accommodating and understanding about the overnight worry - as a good neighbor I know that no one likes a 2 am wake up call warning about the occasional harmless yard invader, so having someone trustworthy just in case this happens-to bring my dogs back into the house- instead of letting them howl all night- is crucial to suburban neighborhood peace. Meryk was responsive, dependable, and honest on his schedule while caring for my much loved and cherished dogs. Will definitely be booking him again! To have that peace of mind while away from home is absolutely invaluable!”

“Samantha was great! So great I have already started recommending her to friends and family. It was a relief to know that our dogs were taken care of and we could relax on our vacation”

About: I’m currently a veterinary student with a lifelong passion for animals. I’ve been caring for my own dog since I was 13, and since I was 15, I’ve also gained experience pet sitting and boarding through my mother’s Rover business. Over the years, I’ve become comfortable caring for both cats and dogs and understand how important it is to treat every pet with patience, attention, and plenty of love! I’m excited to provide your pets with the same care and attention I would give my own! I’m currently an online student, so I have the flexibility to work at my own pace and complete most of my classes from anywhere. As long as I have my laptop and a textbook with me, I can easily bring my schoolwork along while caring for your pets! This allows me to be flexible with my schedule and spend plenty of quality time with your pets. 💜 I’m very mindful of each pet’s individual needs, including allergies, dietary restrictions, medical needs, and activity limitations. My own pup has a cleft palate and cleft lip, so I understand firsthand how important it is to pay close attention to what a pet can safely eat and how much activity they can handle. I’ll take the time to learn your pet’s routines, needs, and preferences so they can feel safe and comfortable for while you’re away. I’m attentive to the little things and always happy to go the extra mile for your pets! 💜
About: I’ve grown up on a farm surrounded by animals my entire life, so caring for pets has always been a natural part of my day-to-day life. Dogs especially have always had a big place in my heart! Growing up, I helped care for our family dogs by feeding, walking, playing with, and keeping an eye on them. Because I’ve been around animals for so many years, I’m comfortable with dogs of different sizes, ages, personalities, and energy levels. I know every dog has their own routine and personality, and I’m happy to follow your instructions to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while they’re in my care. I’ll treat your pup like one of my own and make sure they get plenty of attention, playtime, and cuddles! 🐶❤️ Your pet’s home away from home 🐾 I work from home every day Monday - Friday! My work schedule is from 6 am - 2:30 pm so your baby will have plenty of potty breaks! On our weekends, we mostly stay local and if we have a visitor I try to not go anymore for more than a couple hours at once! We also have camera in our house to check in and make sure everyone is doing okay! Hi! I’m Mckenzie, a lifelong animal lover who knows how important it is to have someone you can genuinely trust with your pets. I’ll treat your fur babies like they’re part of my own family and make sure they get plenty of attention, love, playtime, and cuddles while you’re away! I’m comfortable with dogs of all sizes and personalities, and I understand that every pet has their own routine and quirks. Whether your pup loves long walks and playtime or would rather spend the day curled up on the couch, I’m happy to meet them where they’re at. I’m also a mom, so patience, responsibility, and keeping up with a busy schedule come pretty naturally to me! I’ll always follow your care instructions closely and keep you updated with pictures and messages so you can relax knowing your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for. I’d love the chance to meet you and your pets! 🐶🐱❤️

“Jonna not only took great care of my dog (and foster dog), but she was communicative with me all the time. If you’re a dog mom, you get this. I want pictures… I want how well they ate, I want how they slept, all of it. She did all of those things which helps me enjoy my trips away even more. My Foster dog is very afraid of new people and she did all the things needed to help her feel as comfortable as she possibly could… Considering. She is the best!”
About: I grew up with both cats and dogs in my house. For the past 25 years, I've had no fewer than two dogs. With rescuing and fostering, I've had up to seven dogs in my care. I understand and appreciate how every pet has their own unique personality and their own likes and dislikes. I understand there are certain things that make them feel safe and things that put them on edge. I think I've always been good at making pets feel safe with me. My work schedule (including drive time) is from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Friday. I am free all other hours of the day and weekends. I have a wife and son who love pets as much, if not more, than I do. I have two beagles and a german shephard who are accustomed to and enjoy having visitors to play with. I have had many different breeds of dogs that require or prefer a number of different things. I have a fenced in back yard with plenty of room to run. There are trees and bushes and plants and squirrels running along the fence top to keep them busy. I have multiple hydration stations through the house and yard and a room that can be set up to accommodate new guests and their crate, beds, and toys.

About: I’ve cared for and trained my own dogs over the years, so I understand how important it is to have someone you can trust with your furry family member. I’m home throughout the day, which means your pup will get plenty of attention, frequent potty breaks, playtime, and daily walks. I’m happy to follow your dog’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, medications, crate routines, and any house rules you use at home. My goal is to make their stay feel comfortable, safe, and as much like home as possible! I’m a stay-at-home mom, so I’m able to spend lots of time with the dogs in my care rather than leaving them alone for long periods. We have a fenced yard for supervised play and potty breaks, and I can provide at least one walk each day along with plenty of playtime and attention. I know leaving your dog with someone new can be nerve-racking, especially the first time, so I’m also happy to send pictures and updates throughout their stay. ❤️ Every dog is different, and I’m happy to learn their routine, personality, favorite things, and little quirks so they can feel right at home while they’re here. I have a fenced yard and will play in the yard with them. I will do prioritize comfort and brain stimulation by allowing for a lot of playtime and walks if your dog allows.
About: If you’re looking for someone who will treat your pets like family, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve spent decades caring for animals of all kinds, from energetic puppies to senior dogs who just want a cozy place to rest to fostering bottle fed kittens that I’m just weaning. I’m experienced with a wide range of breeds, personalities, and temperaments, so whether your pet is playful, shy, or somewhere in between, I know how to make them feel safe, happy, and loved. I truly love animals, and it shows in the way I care for them. Your pets will get plenty of attention, affection, and yes—lots of snuggles! I take the time to understand each animal’s unique needs and routine, so they feel comfortable and at ease while you’re away. I can also welcome your pets into my home while you’re gone. I do have my own dogs but my house has two separate areas that can be used. This would include as many potty and sniff breaks as they want in my fenced backyard as well as all the couch snuggles! I’m currently a stay at home mom to school aged kiddos so I have plenty of time to love on your animals! Walks loves and snuggles available! I can provide car in your home or mine! I have a fenced yard at my home and will keep them separate from my animals. I understand how to be respectful in someone else’s home and want to make everyone’s experience positive.
“Katie was so great! We have a young sweet dog but she does have a significant seizure disorder, which does make finding sitters more challenging, this was our first time using Rover, Katie was the only one who asked for a care guide ahead of time for Ava, she was on time and took great care of our girl! If we didn’t live in North Carolina, we would book often! If we travel back through, would ask Katie back!!”

About: I've had dogs and cats in my life since I was born. I started helping with their care since I was a young child, including sitting with the family dog who was had siezures. More recently in the last 10 years, giving my, (since passed), elderly dog his eyedrops and pills. Dogs and cats are hilarous creatures that deserve love, patience, kindess and respect of their boundaries. Paw parents guidleines and rules for their furry family members will always be followed. I'm flexible with the animal care as I do not have a 9-5 and with working holidays. I keep my animals on a routine schedule and understand that animals need routine to thrive. I am happy to help you keep that routine for your household, as long as there is availability in the schedule. Whatever the rules and guidelines that are given by the paw parents for the care of their animals will be followed. If an animal is highly stressed, they are given the space they need or taken out of the enviroment that is stressing them, ( ex: a reactive dog seeing another dog and is starting to reach their threshold will be redirected or taken out of the enviroment.)
About: I have 40 years of pup to elder care experience. Training, care and presence for comfort and ease of the dog while owners are away can ease stress. Giving them attention and distraction will help in the owners absence. I’m retired and am wiling to take on all schedules and scenarios. I can feed, water, walk and administer medicine as needed and on schedule. I care for my dogs as if they are my kids. They are fed, cared for and vetted regularly. I would care for the owners dogs the same way or whatever way they ask me to.
About: I’ve taken care of animals since I was very young and have always been told I have a way with animals and training puppy’s I trained our lab to be a gentleman! He is still working on not being so rambunctious I am a homemaker I have all the time in the world to take care of your pups walks around the town! Fetch in the backyard and more! I have a fenced in backyard with 3 dogs to keeps yours company! Along with a 3 story house they will have full access too! With water bowls on each floor!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Nixa walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Nixa maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Nixa choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Nixa. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
