Maci did a fantastic job looking over our boys! She came through last minute for us and couldn’t have shown them more care and attention. She stayed in good contact and was able to administer medication properly and even get our anxious one to warm up to her in no time! Thank you Maci!!

Heather is so attentive, thorough, and caring. She was thinking through every possible way she could make my dog happier and more comfortable. Her notes and photos were so thoughtful and showed an attention to detail that reassured me while being away. I cannot recommend her enough, and we look forward to having her look after Rainer again.

Mariah watched my dogs while I went out of town visiting family, and she made the entire trip completely stress-free when it came to my pets. She took care of them as if they were her own and went above and beyond my expectations. The area where my dogs stayed was also very clean and well kept, which gave me even more peace of mind. I felt reassured knowing they were in such great hands the entire time. I would absolutely rebook her anytime 10/10 service and highly recommend! Thank you again!!!🩷

One of my dogs can be reactive when he is not familiar with someone and Kiersten was willing to meet him multiple times before the actual date!! I am so thankful I found her to take care of my dogs. I cannot recommend her enough!! Thank you again and I look forward to working with you again!

About: My family always had a pet dog. As a kid I would feed and walk dogs in the neighborhood while they were out of town. As I grew older I would stay at family or friend's homes if they went out of town. I'm in search of a similar situation in South Bend - dog walking and light housework included! Weekdays I can stop in and let the dog(s) out for bathroom breaks. On weekends/evenings I can stay at your home so that the dog is familiar and will make myself available 100% during that time. I prefer to stay or drop in to my client's home. I find that the dog is more familiar/comfortable this way too. I am happy to do a test run so that everyone feels comfortable/familiar!

About: I’ve had dogs and cats all my life. I’ve potty trained them, taught them how to walk with a leash, taught them tricks like sit stay and say your prayers, and too many to say. I will spoil your fur babies like I do mine. You would never have any worries while you’re away they will be in good hands. I love and enjoy being around dogs and or cats. I’d send you videos and or pictures of your fur baby. Some owners have their fur babies on a schedule if so I will do the same. if there is a park nearby I’d probably take them there. But first I would ask the owner what they would like me to do sense it is their pet. I'm retired so I'm flexible. My routine is the fur babies routine. I'd like to keep it that way for them, so I would need to know. I have a fenced in yard, not big for big dogs tho. They will be fed, played with and cuddled. If they need to be caged I have a large one for their comfort.

About: Hi, I'm Taylor! Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and since 2018 I've been fortunate enough to turn that passion into a career caring for pets professionally. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to work at two specialized pet care facilities. One focused exclusively on dogs, where I cared for pups of every breed, size, age, and personality in both daycare and boarding. The other specialized in cats and small animals, giving me hands-on experience caring for cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, ferrets, fish, and other pocket pets. After caring for thousands of pets throughout my career, I've learned that every animal is unique. Some want to play nonstop, some prefer quiet companionship, and others simply need a little extra patience and reassurance. My goal is always to make every pet feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away. I hold certifications in basic dog training, as well as pet CPR and First Aid. My training has given me a strong understanding of canine behavior, body language, and positive handling techniques, allowing me to provide safe, confident care while reinforcing the routines and manners your dog is already learning. Availability I currently have open availability for: Weekday and Weekend Walks Drop-In Visits Overnight Stays in Your Home Flexible Weekend Availability as Needed for Last Minute Trips Because of my background in professional boarding facilities, I'm comfortable recognizing changes in behavior, administering medications, and adapting my care to each pet's individual needs. I've cared for puppies, seniors, multi-pet households, high-energy breeds, and dogs that are reactive, fearful, or behaviorally challenging. Every pet deserves patience, understanding, and compassionate care, and I pride myself on creating a calm, positive experience that helps them feel secure.

Wow! What an amazing experience!!! Katie took amazing care of our elderly dog who needs to be carried up and down lots of stairs with a harness and doesn't get along with everyone. She provided patient and loving care with frequent updates. We will definitely be using her services again and highly recommend her to everyone.

A pet sitter can provide focused care sessions, help your pet’s routine stay on track, or keep you updated on your pet’s mood and energy levels.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Niles stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Niles. On Rover:

  • 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
