About: I have taken care of family, friends, and neighborhood, pets since I was young! From meeting all of the new pets I have learned that each has their own unique personality-no two pets are the same! With that comes different approaches to earn their trust and create a bond. I am currently on summer break from teaching so my days are pretty available for the next few weeks. Once school starts my availability will change to the later afternoon. I am a very versatile pet sitter! I have spent time with pets where they just need some company and they get all the love, some want all the love and a nice walk outside. My two fur babies are polar opposite energy wise so I know how important it is to meet the needs and play with one of my cats, and how the other just needs someone to give her a lot of love while she naps!
“Erin took incredible care of my senior dog while my family was away for 10 days. I was provided with regular updates of how things were going, and I felt very confident in knowing my dog was getting a wonderful, loving care. Erin even went above and beyond, sweeping the downstairs areas of the house, and washing the bedding that was used during her stay. Erin was lovely and if I need a sitter again, I would be happy to have Erin back to watch my dog.”

“Tim was great! It was very nice to be able to get away for a few days and not have to worry that Dunkin was well cared for. He sent us pics of Dunkin enjoying a popcorn party. Dunkin loves his popcorn! Tim also let us know if there was anything going on at the house. There was an issue with a drain backing up (not Tim's fault). Tim contacted us and we were able to implement a work-around until we arrived home to fix the problem. Overall, it was a very relaxing mini get away to Orlando.”

“Carla is an experienced pet caretaker and we were happy to have her watching our cat and dog while we took vacation. Her communication was fabulous and she went above & beyond keeping our household ticking. We’ll definitely ask her to help out again!”
“Jess communicated well before and throughout the stay, sent updates and pictures, and gave us peace of mind while we were away. When our travel plans were delayed, she was flexible and stayed later than planned so Rollo wouldn’t have to be alone too long, which we really appreciated. Most importantly, Rollo was happy and content when we got home.”

About: Hello! My name is Cailen and I am currently a Veterinary Assistant. I also have years of experience working at an animal shelter. I am reliable, patient, and passionate about animals. I can guarantee that I will take care of every pet as if they were my own! Growing up, I had a big beautiful dog named Mac. In my early adulthood, I have adopted/rescued a few cats named Nora, Baby, Liza, Mikey and Slater. I now have a sweet cat named Wanda. Over the last five years, I have frequently pet/home sat for friends and co-workers. I love both dogs and cats very much, and would be happy to work with either or both. I would love to chat with you about your pet(s) and their needs! I have a fixed schedule at work. I have availability before and after work, along with the 3 days off every week, Tuesday and the weekend. I care for my clients pets as if they are my own. I want to keep your pets as happy as possible while they are in my care. For dogs, I am comfortable doing walks/hikes and outdoor play. For cats, I will keep their areas clean and am willing to spend extra time to let them adjust to me and feel comfortable.
“Liseli is kind, loving and cared for our golden retriever, Fletcher in our home. We felt very safe leaving our senior pup in her care. She sent texts and photos to us each day to let us know how he was doing. Since he is a rescue, it is important for him to stay at home when we have to be away. We will definitely be having her stay with Fletcher again!”

“Jedan is amazing!!! She stayed at our house for about a week and cared for (and spoiled!) Kimmie as if she were her own, buying her toys/treats and even cooking for her. She kept us constantly updated with messages and photos and was extremely respectful. Looking forward to booking her again!”

“Melissa did an awesome job taking care of my two fur babies for a week. I recommend her for any of your needs. I have one dog who has to have medication very morning and one dog who is anxious over everything and I am more than pleased to have come home to a happy home.”
About: I am always the first to be called when a friend needs doggy daycare or house sitting with dogs, cats, and often other animals. I’ve fostered and found homes for rescues internationally and domestically. I’ve worked for a doggy daycare where I was responsible for 50-70 dogs with a crew of 2-4 people. I also spent a few months off and on taking care of 10-22 huskies while part of the herd were sled racing. I’m comfortable with dogs of all sizes and enjoy seeing all of their unique personalities. I’ve loved animals since I was small. We always had cats when I was little, as well as ducks, chickens, guinea pigs, rabbits, my turtle boy China B, parakeets, and a Senegal parrot foster. I was surprised with a rescue dog when I was 10, Hemingway. It was an amazing experience and I helped train Hemmy to be a service dog for my grandmother who was visually impaired. Winter rates are now $250/day for basic overnights, includes 3 pets. Will adjust include extra rates accordingly to animals and household needs. I’m self employed and have the flexibility to set my daily schedule around your animals needs and regular routine. Lots of scritches, play time and love are part of my commitment to your pets. I am available for short and long walks (depending on your animals needs and ability), playtime, companionship, love and affection, meals and snacks as well as monitoring medication if needed.

I have many years of experience with all aspects of training puppies, including some doggie sign language for commands. I have connections and great resources to parks/areas to play outside and walk. I am available for any pet care needs. I have knowledge of taking care of animals with medical needs from assisting with walking, changing, medications, etc. could do some minor grooming but not certified. I am very compassionate with animals and will treat them like my own family. I hope to be booking with you! I work remotely so have a pretty flexible schedule for any pets needs. I do not have any animals currently. I am a homebody who always prioritize the animals needs. I treat every animal I work with like my own family. Whether it’s your senior animal needing hand feeding or a young animal needing play time I’m there! Always open to anything you need.
About: A lifetime animal lover with 5+ years of experience. I pride myself on my thoroughness and dedication to providing for you and your furry family members! I am a teacher, so come summer time I will have a large amount of availability to walk or pet sit! As of right now, I work M-F 7:45-2:45 but could arrange to let your dog out for a potty break around 11:30. I am very attentive and always make sure to keep your pet’s safety a number 1 priority. Monitoring them when in the house/on walks is a must and keeping in contact with you about any possible issues that may come up are always important.
“Bohni was a treat on all levels!!! She stayed with my cat for 3 nights and 4 days.. I think my cat likes her more. The house was better than I left it.. Angel was calm and happy.. I was able to be away from her for the first time and feel confident in her STELLAR care.. if there were 10 stars she would get them all!!!!! Got photos all well everyday!!!! Happy customer”

“Thank Ann! She was everything we hoped for and more. We have a cat who can be a challenge, with his funny ways and she rolled with it - even turning him into a friend. Can’t thank her enough! Also, she left the house as near or neater than when we left! Truly grateful!!”

“Kirsten is an amazing dog sitter! We had her take care of three young dogs for a long weekend. I immediately knew they were in good hands — she kept us updated the entire time we were gone and went the extra mile when one of my pooches got an upset stomach. I will definitely use Kirsten again and can’t say enough good things about her.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Newport walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Newport maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Newport choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
