About: As a school teacher off for the summer, I would love to help other pet parents have a wonderful, worry-free summer experience knowing their family members are in great hands! I’ve been a passionate pet owner my entire life and currently have two sweet little Chihuahuas of my own, so I know exactly how much love, patience, and attention our 4-legged companions need. I truly love all animals, treat every guest pup like a member of my own family, and can't wait to meet my new summer fur babies! As a school teacher, I am completely off for the summer and have an open, flexible schedule! This means I am available to provide your pup with companionship, frequent potty breaks, and plenty of playtime. Whether your dog needs a dedicated walking routine or daytime attention, my schedule revolves entirely around making sure they have a fun, safe, and active summer vacation of their own. When caring for your fur baby in your home, safety and respect for your space are my top priorities. As a dependable lifelong pet owner and school teacher, you can trust that I will strictly follow your established routines, keep a close eye on your dog, and ensure all doors and gates are fully secure during my visits. I provide reliable, loving care—from structured feeding and fresh water setups to safe, supervised playtime—giving you total peace of mind while you're away. I treat your home with the utmost respect and your pet like a member of my own family.
“Nadia is so sweet! We walked my two boys today to see if we could work together as regular customers, and I really loved how calm and confident she is! My dogs can be a handful and she redirected them so well. I am very glad to have found her!”

About: Hi, I’m Sarah! I’m 18 years old and have loved animals for as long as I can remember. I grew up with both dogs and cats, and I currently have four dogs of my own, so I’ve always been surrounded by animals. I work at a dog daycare in Lawrence, where I care for dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages, and personalities. I supervise playgroups, feed dogs, give medications when needed, and make sure they’re safe and having a good time. Working there has given me experience with all kinds of dogs and taught me how important it is to pay attention to each pet’s individual needs. I’m also experienced with cats and am happy to care for both friendly, outgoing cats and the more shy, independent ones. I recently graduated from high school and will be starting my pre-veterinary studies at JCCC this fall. My dream is to become a veterinarian! My boyfriend, Cameron, is 20 and helps me with pet sitting. He loves animals just as much as I do and has plenty of experience with them. He helped train our German Shepherd from puppyhood and grew up with several cats, so he’s comfortable caring for both dogs and cats. I just like to let everyone know that Cameron may accompany me on visits or overnight stays. We both genuinely enjoy spending time with animals, and we’ll make sure your pets are loved and well cared for while you’re away. I work Tuesday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, but I’m available before work, during my breaks, and after work. So I am able to check your pets every 4-5 hours. I also have full availability on weekends and Mondays. Pet care fits naturally into my schedule, and I do my best to be flexible to meet your pet’s needs. When I’m caring for your pet in their own home, my goal is to keep their routine as normal and stress free as possible. Whether that’s feeding, walks, playtime, medications, or plenty of cuddles, I’ll make sure they get the attention and care they deserve. I know how important it is to trust someone with your pets, and I treat every animal as if they were my own. I’d love the chance to meet you and your pets! Feel free to reach out with any questions or to set up a meet and greet.

“Erika was able to meet with me on a moment's notice and was very reliable. She even worked it out to drive a little farther than she would have liked. Thank you Erika!”
About: I grew up taking care of puppies and rescues with my mom, and then moved into helping at a shelter while I was in college. As a grad student and current renter, I can’t have pets of my own so am glad to have the chance to get some cuddles in with yours. I'm happy to work with dogs of all ages and sizes and follow direction well if you are working with any training techniques. I have a soft spot for older dogs in particular and am also happy to look after any plants. I currently attend KU as a grad student where I teach two days a week and am focused on finishing my thesis this semester. I have a fairly flexible schedule and so can maintain a consistent routine for most pets while you’re gone. I’ve traveled a lot and been fortunate to be a guest in many people’s home. I pride myself on being respectful and leaving a house at least as good as I found it. I also try to prioritize pet comfort since I'm a guest in their home too. I try to let them lead interactions so they have a chance to warm up on their own level. I'm also happy to respect household rules and uphold the boundaries the pets are used to (ie., if they're not allowed on certain furniture). If you have any plants that need care while you're away, I love leaning into my green thumb too.
About: I've taken care of dogs and cats ever since I've been on my own. I understand how to read animals' behaviors, enjoy giving belly rubs and treats (if okay with you), I currently have 3 dogs, a female German Shepherd, Klee Kai and male husky mix. I am skilled in handling dogs and cats of all ages and am willing to learn any specifics needed for your special guy! I can usually care for an animal in the evenings on weekdays and anytime on the weekends. I am available for play dates, potty breaks, and walks around the neighborhood. I don’t offer in home services but I enjoy the welcoming from doggies and cats, playing with them to tire them out, and making sure they get all the love and snacks they need.
About: I have taken care of dogs, cats, and parrots! I love going on walks for dogs and would love to go hiking with your dogs (or cats if they like walks)! I have experience giving insulin shots to dogs and I am good at hiding medicine in treats. I am very flexible and can often show up at any time of the day! For late night checks and overnights I ask for a minimum of 8 hour notice. I currently only provide services in the client's home or walks. I do not currently have the capability to watch dogs in my own home but I am able to do overnights and last minute walks and checks late in the night if needed!
About: Hello!! My name is Maisy. I have worked in various different animal related jobs for the last 5 years, I worked at a doggie daycare/boarding facility and I currently am a dog trainer. I have experience with both puppies and elderly dog as well as cats, reptiles, birds, and farm animals. I also am open to limited contact boarding for people reacting dogs and can do crate rotation for dog reactive dogs away from mine. I work in the evenings 4 days a week so I spend the mornings/afternoons out playing with the pups then they take naps in kennels while I’m at work and we play some more when I get home. I also can move my dogs kennels out of the “dog room” and your dog can just stay in there instead of a kennel if they are more comfortable that way. I have 5 dogs that are very active and friendly. I have a fenced in yard the dogs love to run around in and inside we have lots of toys and comfy places to take naps (which will be put up if there are problems). If I’m not at home or at night all dogs will be kenneled for safety.

About: "If you can look at a dog and not feel vicarious excitement and affection, you must be a cat." ~Terri Guillemets Love dogs (and animals in general, but dogs especially.) I have been around them my whole life and wouldn't want it any other way. I come from a large, mostly rural dwelling family, my grandma had 11 kids 2/3 of which have at least 1 or more dog(s) including my mom. I've always had my own and/or lived with roommates/friends/family, that have/had dog(s) in every house I've lived from day 1 to the present. Although I can't say I've taken care of every breed out there (doubt that many people can) I have definitely seen my fair share of mutts and purebreds alike; from Corgis to Chihuahuas, Danes to Dobermans, Lhasa Apsos to Shar Peis, and even a couple of wolves (3/4 mixes) as well as a few rodents, cats, reptiles, arachnid and birds. Big or small I love "em all, but if you forced me to pick a favorite I'd have to go with the affectionate yet intimidating Perro de Presa Canario. In short, if either by choice or necessity you find yourself in need of a caretaker for your 4-legged (or more) companion(s), know that I would be elated for the opportunity and you can be assured that their health and well-being will invariably be at the forefront of my mind in all that I do while they're in my care. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to hearing from you soon. "Lots of people talk to animals.... Not very many listen, though.... That's the problem." ~Benjamin Hoff, The Tao of Pooh

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
