“Deb did a lovely job with our 2 dogs. We came home after 2 weeks of vacation to relaxed and happy pets. None of the stressed out behaviors we have seen in the past when we had to kennel them. I would recommend Deb to anyone!”

“Baylee is magic with our very special 19 year old kidney failure cat. She is not an easy cat to care for, as she needs a special med that isn’t easy to apply. In fact, no one other than a family member has ever been able to do it. But Baylee has become our cranky old girls friend and is able to apply the medicine. Additionally, the house was super clean when we returned. Maybe cleaner than when we left.”

About: I’ve almost always had a pet whether it was a cat, kitten, puppy, family dog, or fish. I enjoyed taking care of the neighborhoods pets growing up as well as house sitting for them. When I was bored I used to ask the neighbors if I could walk their dogs just to get outside! I love animals in all shapes and sizes. Currently I work full time from home. I have a pretty flexible schedule for when I can take a lunch break or leave the house for an extended amount of time. Come March I will be self employed and will have open availability! There is no fence around our home, ideally outside time will be on a leash or long lead rope for running. We can do long walks down the road, a quick car ride to the beach, or walk in the state land across the street from my home. For cats we have lots of climbing structures and even some shelves built into the wall. Many toys and much love to go around
“Kristen was wonderful! She is friendly, organized and attentive. It was a peace of mind to have her check in on my babies and conduct their extensive routine. My pups loved her!”

“Kendall was so sweet and great with the dogs. While I was out she even asked about their favorite toy to play with (forgot to share) and was so quick to reply and let me know all was well with my doggies. Great person! Cannot wait to ask her again.”

About: Having experience in taking care of animals since I was young and going on to intern at a vet clinic and being a member of FFA, I have learned to have compassion and love to take care of animals of all shapes, sizes, and breeds. I am currently working weekends, so I'll have plenty of time to play and have interactive fun with pets during the week days and am willing to accommodate whatever they need. With a fenced in lawn I offer a secure and loving home away from home for your furry companion. Prioritizing their safety and well-being in a calm environment with experienced, trustworthy care.
“Alaina was absolutely awesome- I can’t recommend her highly enough! Her communication was excellent — she responded quickly, clearly, and kept me updated throughout the entire time she was watching our pup. We appreciated the daily photo updates. It’s obvious that Alaina truly loves animals and treats them like family. I’ll definitely be booking with her again. If you’re looking for a trustworthy, kind, and reliable dog sitter, Alaina is it!”

“My dog stayed with Christopher for five days. After the initial meet and greet I knew my pupper was in great hands! I got pictures every day. I felt very secure and was able to relax on my vacation knowing he was so well taken care of!”

About: I’ve taken care of animals for as long as I remember. It started with my family dog and bearded dragon which both lived a very long and fulfilling life. I currently have a border collie mix of my own right now and some fish. I have lots of experience walking and taking care of dogs. I have experience taking care of dogs of all sizes, all ages (puppy to senior), all energy levels, and various different breeds (Boykin Spaniels, Pitbulls, Pomeranians, Border Collies, and Labs to name a few). Some of those dogs were anxious and/or reactive. I also understand the extra patience it takes to care for rescues and fosters because I volunteered at an animal shelter in Minnesota when I was in high school, my dog is a rescue, and I fostered a sweet Black Lab puppy in college. I have some experience caring for cats. I’ve watched cats for a few of my friends with no issues! Something that makes me different than other pet sitters is that I’m a wildlife biologist, so I am very educated about a lot of species and am always so excited to gain more experience caring for a new creature. I handle and manage for wild animals daily. In summary, I’d love to take care of your pet and give it the love and attention it deserves. Feel free to reach out anytime! I have plenty of free time right now, all day, every day. I am temporarily furloughed because of the government shutdown so am looking for some more cash. This seemed like a fun way! Safety is very important to me. If your pet comes to my place or if I watch your pet, I would keep them safe by following these rules I’ve created: - I don’t let dogs have huge bones or huge treats without supervision to avoid choking. - I always have the closest vet’s number written down in case of emergencies prior to caring for your pet. - I always have pet first aid supplies available just in case. - I ask about a pet’s reactivity towards dogs, people, and other animals prior to caring for your pet so I can keep your pet safe on walks.

About: Hi there! I am a current PA student that is puppy/pet deprived after losing my sweet girl Annie to splenic cancer 2 years ago. I have had 2 cats and a dog (Annie) and I have helped my grandma with her litters of Doberman during my entire childhood. I have experience with home health care for elderly, I am medically trained (for humans) and have years of babysitting (also for humans). All this being said, I would love to help out you and your family while also having the ability to gain some pet therapy myself :) My schedule will change monthly so I will continue to update my profile with each clinical rotation change in schedule. During April, I will be available on the weekends but may also be available in the evenings during the week. I will care for your pet just the same as if it were mine! All I request is your instruction on your guidelines in and out of the house :)
“Katelyn was great! Our dogs were well cared for and happy! And our house was spotless, like no one had been here while we were gone! It was nice to know our dogs were comfortable at home while we had to be away.”

“Taylor stayed at my place and watched my dog Frieda for a weekend and was great! Most importantly though, my dog loved her! Taylor followed all my instructions and even sent a few pictures to let me know that things were going well. I highly recommend her!”

“Gabby was wonderful! We had a last minute trip come up and I chose Gabby based on her reviews to house sit and dog sit for us. She sent us photos of walks with Charlie and communicated throughout the weekend. I would definitely recommend Gabby and will absolutely use her again!”

About: I have several years of personal and professional experience with animals of all sizes- dogs, cats, reptiles, rodents, swine, etc. I have my B.S. in Neuroscience with a focus on Animal Behavior and am currently working on my graduate degree and obtaining certifications to become a research surgeon. I can comfortably provide services like nail trims, bathing, some grooming, anal gland expression, and medication administering (oral, injectable, etc). I am also CPR certified and have a professional experience and background in emergency/ICU medicine. I have experience working in a fear-free clinic and have a quirky shepherd of my own so babies with fear/reactivity are more than welcome. I would love to take care of your babies and make you feel like they are in safe hands so you can enjoy your time away! I have open availability on weekends and holidays. Weekdays I typically work 7-3pm but can be flexible and stop in if needed or make additional arrangements. After work and before work, my time would be dedicated to them! I can easily crate your animal if needed. I have a safe, pet proofed townhouse that would be comfortable for any animal big or small. I have my own private backyard in a quiet neighborhood. I am very flexible depending on each animals needs!
“Emily went above and beyond with my kitties, Marv and Maisy. First time I’ve used Rover and I was relieved at how much of a good job Emily was doing and giving me amazing daily updates. I haven’t been gone that long and my cats are as normal as they can be when I got home rather than being stand-off ish and hiding. Highly recommend Emily to take care of your pets.”

About: I am a kind and patient animal lover. I currently am working from home and have a very flexible schedule during the day. I consider myself very attentive and caring, having grown up with dogs and cats my whole life. I am very active and attuned to animal needs. I have a reliable source of transportation and would gladly travel for jobs and am able to transport pets safely if necessary. I work remotely with a very flexible schedule. I am available morning, noon, and night for whenever your pet needs some entertainment, attention, or care. I have a fenced in yard, plenty of toys, as well as a park right down the street. I do own a cat that is very playful and good with dogs but can also be separated into his own portion of the house if necessary.
“Emerson did a great job watching my dog for a week. She was patient with him while he got comfortable, was responsive whenever I sent a message, and she left my house even cleaner when she left than it was before she arrived.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred New Era walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in New Era maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in New Era choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in New Era. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
