About: I started taking care of neighbors' and friends' dogs, cats, fish, hamsters and birds when I was 14 years old. I love animals and wildlife of all kinds. I have been a cat and dog mom for 28 years and have had 2 leash and dog-reactive dogs (strong, 60 pound+ mutt and pit bull) so I am experienced in dealing with these situations. I have strong situational awareness with my head on a swivel when walking dogs. My senior kitty required specialized medical care at the end of her life with daily prescription medication and subcutaneous fluids. I have volunteered as a dog walker and cat snuggler at Friends of Homeless Animals rescue. I have been a social worker for 30 years and am nearing retirement from full-time employment. I would love to use my love of animals to continue working as a pet-sitter and dog walker. I am very organized, detail-oriented and will care for your pet as I care for my own. I would love to meet you and your pets to see how I can be of service. I currently work full-time Monday through Friday but am retiring at the end of September. My weekends are currently free. I have some flexibility in my weekday schedule so I may be available on a case-by-case basis for weekday dog walks that are in western Loudoun County and within a 10 minute drive of my home. I will care for your pet in your home so that they will be the most comfortable. I am available for overnight stays to keep your pet company and to provide close supervision, lots of TLC, food, water, potty breaks and anything else you may need. I am a non-smoker and non-drinker. I am very detail-oriented, responsible and dependable. As a bit of an overprotective dog mom, I have needed to entrust my dog's care to a pet sitter. My dog is my world. So I know just how valuable trust, dependability and attention to detail are. What matters to you matters to me. I will follow your instructions down to the smallest detail. I will be diligent in communicating with you, sending regular updates and photos of your pet so that you know they are safe and happy in my care.

About: Growing up, my family has owned many dogs and other pets, and I have always been heavily involved in their care. I had a dog walking business a few years ago, and I regularly watched the dogs of our friends and neighbors. My family also fostered a dog for a time, which I was heavily involved in. Over the last year, I have had the opportunity to walk and care for many different dogs through Rover. Throughout all of these experiences, I have had to care for many different types of dogs, both big and small, and old and young. As a result, I am comfortable with all types of breeds and know how to navigate challenges when it comes to pet care. Most importantly, I love dogs! I am available every day of the week from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM. I am very flexible and can always find time to accommodate other schedules. Please check my calendar for any days marked unavailable. When caring for dogs in the homes of others, I make sure that they are comfortable, well fed, and loved. When walking dogs, I always make sure to go at their pace, pick up after them, and keep them safe.
“Grace watched our French bulldog Otis for a week while we were on a family vacation. She provided exceptional care of Otis and our home. She followed our directions for Otis’s schedule and went above and beyond to make sure he was happy. They became best friends by the end of the week! I would recommend Grace to anyone who wants a responsible, kind and caring dog sitter!”

About: My family has raised goats and chickens since I was around 10, and have had dogs and cats for as long as I can remember! I've grown up around animals my whole life and I am accustomed to caring for goats, chickens, dogs, and cats! I'm currently home in Northern Virginia from college for the summer, so I have plenty of time to play with and care for all of your animals!! I have a fenced in yard for dogs as well as plenty of space to take them for walks! As well, I have litter boxes/safety measures set up for my 4 cats. I have 8 goats and 13 chickens so I'm used to making sure the outdoor animals are safe from predators and locked safely into their houses at night.
“Emelyn is the best! The house was left exactly as it was when we left for our trip. Our dog ate all his meals during her stay, which is huge because he usually hunger strikes when we’re not around. We could tell our boy was very comfortable with Emelyn. Will definitely book again!”
“This was my first time booking with Melinda and she exceeded all our needs, especially when my dog had a bad day health wise. I took the longest vacation in my adult life and overseas as well, she gave me peace of mind I needed to enjoy my trip. 1000% would rebook and recommend her wholeheartedly.”

About: I’ve been pet sitting for 4 years and currently share my home with 4 dogs and 2 cats, so caring for animals is just part of my everyday life. I’ve watched pets for friends, family, and neighbors, and I’ve consistently gotten great feedback for being reliable, attentive, and treating every pet like my own. I understand that every animal has different needs, routines, and personalities, and I take the time to learn what makes your pet comfortable, whether that’s a specific feeding schedule, playtime preferences, or more. Your pets will be safe, loved, and well cared for with me! I’m home for the summer before starting full time work in the fall, so my schedule is wide open right now. I can do daily walks, drop ins, or daycare any day of the week, mornings or afternoons, without restriction! I’m also flexible for last minute requests since I don’t have a fixed work schedule to plan around. Once fall hits my availability will shift, but for now I have plenty of time to give your pet attention and exercise. I’m comfortable following whatever routine or rules you have set up, whether that’s feeding times, medication, leash rules, or specific areas your pet is or isn’t allowed in. I always make sure doors and gates are secure before and after walks/check-ins, and I’ll send updates or photos so you know your pet is in good hands while you’re away.
About: I’ve been pet sitting since I was 10 years old and have years of hands on experience caring for animals. I currently work at a kennel where I care for all kinds of dogs, with specialized experience in administering medication, cleaning and bathing, and safe, confident handling. In addition to dogs and cats, I also have experience caring for exotic pets, including birds and reptiles. I am currently working part-time, so I am available to drop in during most hours every day of the week. My flexible schedule allows me to easily accommodate last-minute requests, midday walks, or specific feeding times to ensure your pet stays perfectly on track with their usual routine. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow their established routines as closely as possible to keep pets comfortable and stress free. I make sure all feeding, walks, playtime, and litter box or cleanup needs are handled carefully, and I closely monitor pets for any changes in behavior or health. I also administer medications when needed and keep the home clean and secure, providing updates and photos so owners feel confident while they’re away.
About: I have owned my dog for the past 9 years, but sadly lost him to cancer this past year, so I have experience for taking care of elderly sick dogs. I have also taken care of foster dogs of all ages all throughout college! I am entrepreneur and time is super flexible for me. I am able to work with people’s crazy schedules and be there for your pets when needed! I care for any ones pets the same way I would care for mine. Always making sure that they are happy, well fed, and walked.
“Celina was great with our two pugs! One of them is very people shy, and she had him snuggling with her in no time! She kept us informed as to how our fur babies were doing throughout the weekend. Will definitely use her again!”

“Sierra was absolutely AMAZING watching my dogs and house for a week. She gave regular updates, photos, and made me feel completely at ease while I was away. I came home to happy dogs and a spotless house - it was even cleaner than when I left! It's rare to find someone so reliable, communicative, trustworthy, and genuinely caring with animals. I would 100% hire her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter/house sitter. Honestly... I almost hate to share her because she's THAT good lol.”

About: Everyone who knows me will tell you that I have an incredible love and passion for my family life centered around children and fur-babies. I have been been caring for and rescuing animals for over 30 years. During that time I’ve worked with many rescues and local organizations to provide loving care to foster, rehabilitate, and adopt out hundreds of many cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, etc. I have worked with feral cats in clinics to fix, vet and release. I helped out with the Mason Cat Coalition at George Mason University. I have had a few hundred cats/kittens puppies/dogs and everything in between over the years. I vetted, cared for or nursed back to health many. Most found forever homes, however for many animals, a few adopted me and my home! I am notorious keeping the unadoptable ones! I genuinely care and love above all else. Something important to know about me is that I am extremely meticulous in my care of animals. I have never had an animal get into places, food or medications they were not supposed to, run out the door, get lost, forget to lock the door, etc. This simply does not happen because I treat them as if they were own family members. I am as vigilant as if I were watching your human child. I have experience in providing care for large all the way down to very small animals, seniors, babies and everything in between including some reptiles, hermit crabs, rabbits, small rodents, etc. I’m very patient and calm, which works well with seniors, or animals with special needs including the, administration of medication, or injections. During my visits I also offer free basic training and/or behavioral advice for dogs and cats. I am normally that go-to animal person that other pet care providers go to for questions. Pet care is my happy place! I begin early and end late. I am available to come to your home to discuss any schedule changes you may need. We are a team and I want my pet parents as happy as their pets. Please note that the welfare of the pets I care for during my petsits are the most important to me - the pet before you, or even your pet, may require additional time usually up to 15 minutes. I do not charge for this time - it's not the pup or kitty's fault! but they deserve to be clean and healthy before I leave. If more time than 15 minutes is required, I will go back after my next petsit to care for them. As always, I communicate and can be reached! Something important to know about me is that I am extremely protective and meticulous in my care of animals. I have never had an animal get into places, food or medications they were not supposed to, run out the door, get lost, forget to lock the door, etc. This simply does not happen because I treat them as if they were own family members. I am as vigilant as if I were caring for your human child. **Please see Specialty Services in the "Important to know about their pets ahead of time" section
“Darlin was fantastic with our pups, as usual! She always sends detailed updates with pictures twice daily that show how happy and loved our dogs are. The house is left perfectly clean after she stays - she is a wonderful and respectful guest! I recommend Darlin to everyone!”

“Jennifer is wonderful with our pets and also very considerate, leaving our house cleaner than when we left. It's nice to be able to relax on vacation without worrying about how things are going at home. With Jennifer we know everything's fine. Highly recommend her!”

Sasha was great with our senior dog. He was a tough customer at first, but she was so patient and kind, she won him over in no time. She did everything we requested of her and sent update pictures while we were away. She was very flexible, accommodating and punctual. She is such a sweet person with a true compassion for animals. We would highly recommend her, thank you :-)

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 4,683 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Mountville. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mountville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mountville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mountville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Mountville. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
