“Sarah took great care of our two cats while we were on vacation. One day she couldn't find one of them and took extra time to search and find her to make sure she was all right. Thanks again for treating our cats like your own!”

“Our first visit was Samantha was excellent. My two dachshunds are usually nervous around new people, but they liked Samantha right away. She took her time to let the dogs relax and come to her. She was kind and gentle, and that made a huge difference. The pups quickly felt relaxed and calm. I look forward to working with Samantha this fall!”

About: When I take care of your furry friend, it's not just about the basics. I treat every animal like they're my own family. My genuine passion for animal health is what truly sets me apart. I constantly study animal science and medicine, focusing specifically on canine wellness. This knowledge allows me to provide informed care and spot potential issues early, ensuring a safe and enriching environment. I have a special soft spot and significant expertise with senior dogs. I understand the nuances of their golden years—whether it's managing medication schedules, assisting with mobility challenges, or simply providing the gentle, quiet companionship and extra patience they deserve. Their comfort and dignity are my top priorities. On the other end of the spectrum, I adore the joyful chaos of puppies. I bring experience in positive reinforcement training to help them with foundational behaviors, potty training, and early socialization. I am equipped to handle everything from zoomies to crate training, ensuring they get a great start. For me, being a sitter is about building trust, sharing lots of cuddles, and making sure your pet—no matter their age or stage in life—is happy, healthy, and thriving while you're away. Pet care pretty much is my daily routine! Since this is my full-time gig and main income source, I’m basically always open for business. I don't juggle a bunch of other jobs; my whole day is dedicated to making sure the pets I care for have a blast. You can pretty much count on me being available seven days a week—weekends and holidays included. My schedule is super flexible, built entirely around providing reliable belly rubs, consistent walk times, and endless games of fetch. Your pet's happiness is my top priority, 24/7! When I care for your beloved companion, my goal is to provide a stress-free experience that feels more like a mini-vacation than just a service. In your home, my mission is to wrap your pet in the familiar comfort of their own space. I follow every routine you’ve established, ensuring their world stays predictable and cozy. We’ll focus on lots of positive reinforcement, whether that’s a favorite game of fetch or extra cuddle time on the sofa. You’ll receive fun photo updates of our adventures, so you can relax knowing your pet is safe, happy, and receiving lots of love in capable hands. In my home, your pet joins a secure and stimulating environment designed for fun and socialization. We prioritize compatibility to ensure safe playtime, offering structured days full of exciting activities, toys, and comfy spots for a well-deserved snooze. The environment is always clean, supervised, and full of positive vibes, giving your pet a delightful change of scenery while ensuring you have total peace of mind.
“Ren was AMAZING!!!! We have found our forever friend for our fur baby! She went above and beyond and definitely reassured us every step of the way! We will be booking Ren anytime we are going out of town! She was the best and so so truth worthy! Thank you a million”
“Izabelle did a great job taking care of Toby while we were away. She was reliable and prompt in arriving for his care needs. It was great to see her report cards with photos attached. Would hire her again.”

“Emma was very caring and attentive to our kitties while we were away. She gave great updates and pictures! I highly recommend and trust her to take care of our kitties again! Thank you, Emma!”

“Allyson was a wonderful caregiver for my Sunny boy. She sent pictures every day and seemed to capture every mood of his. She is a polite young woman who cares about animals and it shows. My Sunny warmed up to her and let her pet him. I would recommend Allyson if you’re looking for someone to take care of your fur babies while you’re away. I have complete confidence in her and would use her again. 😽👍👍”

“Emily was a great pet sitter. Our meet and greet was very pleasant and I felt that she asked important questions that we hadn't thought of mentioning. She was great with our animals, she played well with them and took wonderful pictures. I would definitely recommend her and hope to be able to have her watch our fur babies again”

“Kevin has been helping us with my aunt's cat who needs daily medication. He is professional, friendly, quick to respond, and most importantly, Cleo is getting her pills. He also sends us a photo of her after each visit which we find funny (she doesn't look too happy after being pilled but she does have a lot of attitude!) and also comforting to know she is being taken care of by someone who knows what he is doing and enjoys it.”
“Alexandra is an excellent sitter. She followed instructions perfectly, and even made sure my plants stayed alive while I was gone. Brad was happy and healthy when I returned. 10/10 recommendations!”

“Ava was such a great sitter for my 3 kitties. I was on vacation for 9 days and it was such an ease off my mind knowing that my babies were being well taken care of. I am so grateful to her.”

About: I’ve been around dogs for most of my life and have owned a dog since I was 7. Over the years, I’ve also helped local families care for their dogs while they were traveling, and during college I had the opportunity to help a breeder care for puppies as well as their adult dogs. These experiences gave me the opportunity to work with dogs of different ages, sizes, personalities, and energy levels. I also have hands-on experience working in a veterinary clinic, and I’m currently a second-year veterinary student. Between my personal experience with pets and my veterinary training, I’m comfortable providing attentive, responsible care and following individual instructions for each pet. I’m currently in veterinary school, so my schedule is busiest during the weekdays, but I have more flexibility on weekends for house sitting and longer stays. I’m also available for drop-in visits and walks during the week when my class schedule allows. I’m very intentional about keeping my Rover calendar updated so families know when I’m available. I enjoy spending my free time outside, walking, and being around animals, so pet care fits naturally into my routine! I want every pet to feel safe, comfortable, and as close to their normal routine as possible while their owner is away. I’m happy to follow specific instructions for feeding, walks, medications, potty breaks, and anything else your pet needs. My experience working in a veterinary clinic has also taught me to pay close attention to changes in behavior, appetite, energy, and overall well-being. When caring for pets in their home, I’m respectful of their space and their family’s home and make sure everything is secure before I leave.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
