“Opie had a great stay and I look forward to booking in the future. He really benefitted from having the fenced in yard to play in (and plenty of other dogs around) and came home as relaxed as I've ever seen him. Aaron is very knowledgeable about what he does and provides a safe, fun environment for the dogs. He's also generous - Opie chewed through his food bag during his stay and Aaron offered to pay for a replacement.”

“Alex took such great care of my dog! He provided plenty of updates, including photos and messages, which gave me peace of mind while I was away. My dog came home happy, well-exercised, and clearly well-loved.”

“Amazing!! My dog usually doesn’t eat when I leave her cause she’s very shy, first time she came home with a full tummy! Always updated me, went on walks and felt at homeee!:)”

“Jen was fantastic for our high energy dog! She treated her like one of her own pets, sent pictures and videos regularly, and responded promptly. She will certainly be Daisy’s mommy away from mommy whenever we need ❤️”

“Rose was great and very easy to deal with. She took great care of our Griff and he loved playing ball and was tired out. I would definetely reccommend her. Very friendly and appreciative and loves animals.”

“Sarah was awesome! She spoiled my pup while I was away for a few days. She asked very comforting questions to ensure he was taken care of. Would definitely recommend to anyone needing a dog sitter!”

“Spencer was fantastic. He was communicative, professional, and sent regular updates and photos, which gave us real peace of mind while we were away. It was clear our dog was comfortable and well cared for. He was attentive and picked up on little personality details, making the experience even better. We came home to a happy, relaxed dog. Highly recommend Spencer and would absolutely book with him again.”

About: I have 15 years of hands-on experience working with dogs of all temperaments — from confident, easy-going pups to anxious, shy, and reactive ones. I’m trained in reading dog body language, building trust, and providing calm, structured, loving care. Whether your dog needs extra space and patience or is a social butterfly ready for adventure, I meet them where they are so they feel safe, supported, and understood. Every dog in my care gets individualized attention, enrichment, and a secure environment Pet care isn’t something I fit into my routine — it is my routine. I do this full-time, which means your pet gets my full attention, flexible scheduling, and consistent care throughout the day. Right now, I’m focusing on dog walking and giving pups a safe, engaging, and positive experience on their daily outings. I have over 5 years of hands-on experience working in a shelter setting, working with all types of dogs — from social butterflies to anxious or reactive pups. Every walk is tailored to each dog’s needs, energy level, and comfort. I read body language, move at their pace, and provide structure, enrichment, and calm guidance. Your dog will get patience, safety-focused handling, and the same love and attention I’d give my own.
“Katherine was great with my dog. She was very accommodating to my dog's needs and sent multiple daily photos and updates while we were away. We will use Katherine again when we need a dog sitter.”
About: I have worked with dogs and cats in General practice vet clinics and ER vet clinics for over three years. I also have experience volunteering at animal shelters and dog sitting/cat sitting. My schedule is very flexible and I am available most days and times for your pet! I am even able to care for pets on weekends, early mornings and evenings. I have a one bedroom apartment and no animals in the house.I can keep up with feeding schedules, walking schedules, and any medical needs your pet may have such as providing medication. I treat each pet like my own and I love staying in touch with pet parents throughout the stay by sending pictures!
About: I've had dogs my entire life from puppies to rescues! I've also been a grooming salon manager in Ithaca for 9 years. I've cared for many different breeds, ages, temperaments, and quirks all dogs have and I love them all the same. I have two dogs of my own Luke and Yoda. Luke is a 6 year old lab mix around 35 lbs. He is very loving and playful. Yoda is a 5 year old miniature fox terrier mix who has unlimited energy and is the sweetest snuggler. I am home all day with my baby and two dogs of my own so I can give the same care to some extra dogs! I treat every dog as if they are my own. I have lots of extra blankets to make sure they have there own space (i do recommend to bring some of there stuff like blankets, beds, and toys to make them more comfortable) and have extra room to separate them if they need to be alone. I will always make sure they are comfortable, happy, loved, and safe!
“First time using Rover.com and Elisheba made for a great first impression! My dog was very happy and well cared for. She sent me several pictures to keep me in the loop on their activities. I definitely recommend Elisheba for your pet walking/boarding needs! ?”

About: Hello, I am an active individual who likes being out in nature and exploring the local outdoor areas. I would enjoy the opportunity to help care for your pet and would enjoy the company as well. I am employed full time as a PhD student at Cornell and am seeking a side job that I could enjoy as much as my current job. I live by myself in a quiet, smoke-free home with no other animals or children. I am in a pedestrian-friendly area with excellent scenery for walking. Because much of my work schedule is flexible, I will have time throughout the day to take care and spend time with your pet. I also have more availability on weekends. As an animal lover, I like to interact with dogs through play (tossing a ball, playing tug-of-war with a toy, running around outside) and relaxing with them and giving them pets.
About: I have taken care of dogs since I was 11 years old. It started with my family dog, along with family members dogs. I would walk them and feed them. I then got my own dogs that I do all care for. I started fostering with a local rescue in 2022. I’ve cared for dogs with medical issues. Anywhere from Seizure disorders, parasites and other various medical issues. I treat every dog that I care for as if they’re my own. I currently work full time, M-F 730a-330p. I am able to check in, walk, feed, etc, dogs before work, during my lunch and after work. I have 2 dogs of my own. We live in a 3 bedroom house. Unfortunately, I don’t have a fenced in yard. I do take my dogs on multiple walks everyday along with utilizing a tie out (if they want to stay out longer), and would do the same with yours, so they get some outside time.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Mecklenburg home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Mecklenburg.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Mecklenburg sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
