“Tanya was wonderful for our trio! It’s been very hard finding someone we trust with all 3 of our pups, especially because one is nearly 17 years old and the other has no teeth and requires a special diet! Tanya maintained our pups’ spoiled lives up and it was super appreciated! She was super communicative and sent tons of photos! So happy! Thanks Tanya! Our pups loved you!”

“Jackie watched our 2 pups for 9 days over Christmas. It’s so hard to leave them behind but much easier when you know they are in good hands. Jackie was great. Her communication was solid throughout When she ran into a hiccup we were able to get it resolved quickly. My pups were happy and healthy upon return. Also, the house was left clean and everything in order. Would definitely recommend!”

“Could not have been a nicer person to watch our dog Ruger for the day. Was on time this morning and Haley updated us through the day with text and pictures showing Ruger playing and enjoying her time with Haley. Would absolutely recommend Haley to anybody.”

“Heather is awesome. She stayed with our dog for 2 nights. She took great care of her and took her on different adventures. She also left our place cleaner than she found it. She was very responsive and communicative. We will definitely use her again.”

“We booked Joy last minute to watch our puppy while we skied at Mammoth. She was so sweet and immediately we knew he was in great hands. She sent us updates and photos throughout the day and he was a happy little camper when she dropped him off. We will definitely use Joy again!”

About: I’ve had dogs my entire life, and miss the company of a furry friend. I’d love to show your dog all the pent up dog love I’ve had to store inside myself the past couple years. My family had three dogs growing up, from puppy to old age. I was helpful in every part of their training and growth, and often took them on multiple walks per day for both my enjoyment and theirs. Walking lately without a dog with me is a bit more lonely, and though larger dogs such as boxers or labs are my favorite, any dog with a lot of energy will get along great with me. My schedule is flexible to help out with whatever you need. I am a runner and hiker (30+ miles per day) and can guarantee I will wear your pup out on walks! I usually work afternoons, but my job is flexible and I can make time for your furry friend throughout my work shifts as necessary during the day. I have the time and more than enough energy to take your dog on walks or a run every day, and will make sure they're comfortable at all times. I don't have a fenced in yard, but will walk them until theyre tired
“Paige took amazing care of our dog! She sent frequent photos and updates about Riley and left our home spotless! We would absolutely recommend booking Paige to care for your pet!”

About: Mammoth local offering loving dog care and scenic trail adventures, with plenty of exercise, attention, cuddles, and personalized care for every pup, each and every day. “Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine since I enjoy spending time outdoors, staying active, and giving animals plenty of attention, companionship, exercise, and consistent care.” In my home, pets receive a safe, clean, and comfortable environment with plenty of attention, exercise, playtime, and regular potty breaks. In clients’ homes, I follow each pet’s normal routine closely, including feeding schedules, walks, medications if needed, litter box cleaning, and lots of companionship to help them feel comfortable and relaxed while their owners are away.
About: I have been living and taking care of my best friend Sushi (senior havenese mix). She is now approaching the young age of 17. Everyday, I slowly take her out for her walks and provide her with her daily medication. Most importantly, I always tell her, she's beautiful and a good girl. I will provide the same attention to details as I do with my own precious baby. currently working on a part-time basis from home. I am lucky to have tons of flexibility to provide an efficient and dedicated service for your pets. I do have an open yard that can be used by pets. I also enjoy taking active dogs on small to medium hikes and walks.
About: With a veterinarian for a mother, I’ve learned to care for animals beyond what most people think is possible. Since I have moved away from home I am hoping to rekindle my connection with animals. I’m a full time student and work events one day a week. I have room in my schedule most days for walking mornings and evenings, or house/ pet sitting overnight. Direct communication is best for scheduling. I currently cannot have pets in my home but am happy to safely take care of your pet in your home. Your pet will be fed, walked and played with as much as they need, when they need it. I’m a huge fan of being outside unless it’s an inside animal. I’m not afraid of the dog beach!
About: I’ve worked and owned dogs for a young age. I currently have a German Shepherd mix I rescued just last year. I look forward to meeting with and taking care of all your pets needs. I work from home so have availability pretty much any day or time of the week that you may need. That just means more time to play with your pups! I’m very respectful and responsible for others homes and requirements. I have a large yard for pups to play in and enjoy, and often love taking my dog on long walks around Tahoe.
About: Since I was a little girl I have lived surrounded by animals, specially dogs and cats. From the ones we adopted with my family to the dog hotel, away from the city, that my family built to help owners who go on vacation and can't take their pup with them. Many of my friends have dogs and fortunately I have been able to take them on hikes while they are at work. No matter the weather... I will take your pup for a walk or hike. I'm comfortable with any kind of breeds and ages. Don't hesitate on calling or texting so we can talk about your pup's needs! I am most of the time available preferably during afternoons and overnights. Available for last minute bookings. Call or text and let's make it happen! When caring for your pup it is important to create a comfortable space. I live in a pet friendly home that is very clean, our backyard has access to a hiking trail that goes to a nearby creek. I make sure they have constant access to water and shade during the hike. Ensure they will come back home happy.
“Katrina is fantastic! I loved the pictures she sent me of my pup during her stay. My dog had a great time and looked so comfortable around her. She was super accommodating to her needs of not staying out during the day and took her for early morning and late night hikes instead. Highly recommend and thanks again!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Mammoth Lakes on Rover is $77.7 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mammoth Lakes walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mammoth Lakes maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mammoth Lakes choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
