Carolyn is very obviously an animal lover! I had no problems or worries for my cat (and hamster) while I was away. She is kind and bighearted but also very diligent and went over and beyond to come and return my key safely once I was back. Highly recommend. :)

About: I had the wonderful opportunity to have pets (the majority being doggos) since I was four! I truly just love being around animals! I sadly can’t have any animals in my residence now hence why I am here, I do want to say that I will do my very best to make sure any pets are well taken care of and loved when I am pet sitting! I am looking forward to future opportunities!! As of right now my schedule is pretty open, especially with summer coming up. Mornings especially but, we can always speak further about that when figuring outs dates that are needed for sitting. As of right now, when I visit back home to see my mom I help her with our two dogs, Sandra and Zeus. I also help out with our chicks. My biggest thing is just communicating, if there are specific ways an animal needs to be looked after I am very willing to help I just would prefer we talk about it extensively, as well as making a list of priorities for the pets.

About: With a lifetime of experience in caring for and fostering pets and 6 years of professional experience in pet care, I can be there to love your furry family whenever you can’t. I am highly experienced with taking care of senior dogs and cats, very patient with puppies and kittens, and highly attentive to any needs your pet may have. I currently run an apothecary and crafts business from home with my girlfriend, and spend 1-2 nights a week playing music with friends. I am home most of the time and can spend most of the day caring for animals, I currently have a senior cat who requires lots of attention so cuddles are always available. I prioritize safety and trust in any environment I’m in for taking care of your pets. In clients houses, I stick to the pets schedule best I can to keep them stress free. I keep my own home pet proofed and always prioritize a clean and calming environment. I am always available to supervise your pets and love to nourish them with as much play time and walks as they need. I have a local dog park in the community, as well as a dog park with a lake nearby that dogs may swim in during the summer, which I love to bring them to. I also have a secure cat stroller for any adventurous cats who can easily be scared outdoors by dogs or other animals, which I love to take them for short walks in as long as they are comfortable.

Allison, we can't thank you enough for taking care of "Kat" during our two week cruise to Alaska. We were initially hesitant in booking through Rover not knowing what to expect or how the pet sitters were screened to begin with. We're so glad we did and even more thankful that Kat had you to check in on her daily while we were gone. The love you have for animals is evident and again, we are extremely grateful that we could enjoy our vacation without having to worry about Kat. Oh, and anytime we got Internet service while in port, first thing we did was check out the "Rover Report." We got a kick out of them! For anyone reading this review, if you're looking for a pet caregiver that is reliable, caring and will love and spend time with your fur baby like her own, look no further and book with Allison. We will definitely be using her again! Erman & Roberta D.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs since I was a child. Being the oldest of four children it was my responsibility to walk, feed and prioritize our dogs! And of course they kept me warm sleeping in my bed. I am patient and loving with all animals. Your dogs happiness and well being come first! Pet care is my only job. I will work with you to assure your needs and your pets needs are met. I am flexible with hours and days. I have an indoor cat that is a bit older. She requires vet visits to assure she’s healthy and moving forward daily. I clean her litter box several times a day and sometimes have to clean her backside.

My family has owned three Labrador retrievers and a beagle mix! I am open to caring for any breed or size dog! I also have two pet cats so I am familiar with cats! Please contact me with any further questions or concerns ! I hope to hear from you soon! I work at the hospital. Unfortunately, this makes it so that I personally can’t own a pet. That is why I’d love to come visit yours! I Monday-Fridays, with Fridays being when I work mornings only. I am around on the weekends when I’m not on call or traveling! I am able to follow whatever instructions are needed for your pet! I am very respectful of your home. I will come to handle them and then leave in a timely manner! About: I have had pets my entire life and grew up on a small farm with dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, ducks, and even sometimes quail! I am currently a full-time mom of 1 human child and 3 of the four legged variety. I have cared for a variety of different dog breeds and temperament's. I’m very active and would love to get your dogs outside on walks, runs, or hikes. I have always treated our animals like part of the family and I will treat your pet with the same love, respect, and kindness that I give to my own. My rates reflect quality - but affordable - pet care. I send a lot of picture updates throughout the day in order to set your mind at ease - I know how hard it can be to leave your pet while you're away! I have a very flexible schedule since I am a stay at home mom! Just let me know your current needs and I can likely accommodate most schedules. I am currently not boarding or watching pets in my home, but I will make sure your pet is safe and comfortable in their own space. I offer to do long dog walks and play-time so that they go home tired at the end of the day!

One of our dogs went to the bathroom in our house before she arrived and she cleaned it up for us. So sweet! Can’t wait to have you back Natalie!

Carolyn did a wonderful job taking care of my kitty. When things weren't as expected, she communicated with me very quickly and was flexible on her visit time by checking in early the following day when we thought something might be awry. When I need a sitter again, I will definitely be asking her for sitting help in the future!

Carolyn took such great care of our 3 kitties when we were on our honeymoon. She sent check-in pictures and messages everyday, which really provided peace of mind to know they were in caring hands. Additionally (as things go) we had an issue with our litter robot which she caught and handled. I would definitely recommend her!

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Maggie Valley. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
