About: I’ve been around dogs of all breeds and sizes my whole life and cared for most small and medium sized dogs for many years. I have a medium sized dog who loves being around other animals, but mostly likes dinner and naps! I’m currently working Monday through Friday 7-4 so weekend care is best for me. I’m available for evening check ins or walks. Because I’m a teacher, I’m available most holidays and breaks. I have a large fenced and walled in yard. There is a pool and that is gated off, too. I live in a quiet neighborhood that is great for walks. I have space to feed dogs in different areas so I can be sure everyone gets there full meal.

Alexis did a great job taking care of our dog while we were on vacation! She kept us updated regularly on how Meelo was doing. We felt extremely comfortable leaving Meelo with Alexis and we plan on working with her again in the future!

About: I’ve loved animals since I was young and have always been interested in becoming a veterinarian. I currently care for my three dogs, which has given me hands-on experience with feeding schedules, daily exercise, and basic training. I’ve taught two of my dogs commands like sit and spin, and I always make sure they get plenty of attention, playtime, and outdoor walks. I am available on weekends and during evenings, and I have flexible availability until I begin my new job. I am reliable, patient, and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals of all kinds. I offer services such as dog walking, drop-in visits, and pet sitting. During my visits, I make sure pets are well cared for by providing fresh food and water, cleaning bowls, and spending quality time with them so they feel comfortable and safe. I also pay close attention to their behavior and needs to ensure they are always supervised and happy. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities, and I will treat them with the same care and attention as my own fur babies.

Christina was amazing. In every photo that she sent me of my dog and cat, they were happy and relaxed. She followed my care instructions to the T. She sent me updates and was available whenever I needed her. She reassured me and helped me feel confident and comfortable leaving my babies. I cannot sing her praise hugh enough. She will absolutely be the first person I contact in the future when I need to go out of town. Thank you Christina!

About: I have had to help and support my three dogs at my old home. Also, I have had to help support my roommate's new dog. Some of the things that I have done included picking up poop, walking the dog, and feeding them to help my roomate or family have a break while they were at work. I am currently in need of a job to pay rent during the summer. My summer hours range from morning to mid-afternoon Monday through Sunday. When I have my full-time job in August, I am available for the weekends or part-time. Walking/House Sitting (your home): I will take your pet on a desired walk rate. I will play/socialize with your pet. I will take them on potty breaks as needed. I will monitor and support your dog. I can help clean their poop or pee when needed.

Jessica is fantastic. I had some concerns leaving Lucy after a not so positive previous experience of boarding her in someone else’s home. So I opted to do an ‘in-my-home’ service this time and it was exactly what she needed. Jessica was the perfect fit who understood my concerns and made sure this experience was very positive. Jessica made Lucy feel comfortable, loved and safe! She took her on walks, spent quality time with her and put up with Lucy’s quirkiness. She sent photos and updates and tolerated me being an overprotective mom. I already have plans to use Jessica’s services again and highly recommend her to all!! Seriously, the best!

About: I have been working with animals since the age of 10 where I volunteered at a family friend's dog daycare. I learned the basics of animal care there and went on to do great things in the field. I went on to do years of volunteer work as well as an internship at a Non-profit cat shelter and clinic. I worked for a few different dog day cares both here and in Reno where I spent a year. I have my own fur babies whom I love to pieces. I am Pet CPR and first aid certified. I also have grooming experience. I can cut nails, give baths, teeth brushing, and minimal hair trims. I also have knowledge in pet nutrition. Your pet will have a blast with me! I can guarantee dog park runs, getting to sleep in bed, and just an overall comfortable experience. Thanks for reading! Please note: My boyfriend will be accompanying me to any overnights. And if I am unavailable, he will take on clients as well. *Additional fees apply when outside of immediate location.* I work 4 days a week as a first responder and Brandon works 3 days as a first responder/teacher so someone is always home with pets and if we both have to leave, it won’t be for longer than an hour or 2. We have a fenced in yard, spare bedrooms, extra crates if needed, and always someone home with your pets! We always lock up food/meds to prevent any accidental ingestions.

Thanh-Mai was absolutely incredible! We have a very anxious and nervous Dalmatian so we weren’t sure how our Ella would do for a full 8 days with someone new in her space but she had a blast! Thanh-Mai was open to multiple meet-ups so Ella could warm up to her. By the second visit Ella was stoked to see her which really eased any worries we had about leaving her. We received pictures and updates all throughout the week with careful attention to Ella’s feelings and reactions. Thanh-Mai stayed in our apartment to keep Ella in her usual environment and when we got home she had left the place so clean and neat! It made for such a nice arrival after two days of flying. We couldn’t recommend Thanh-Mai more! Thank you for creating such a safe space for our puppy!

About: Hi, my name is Jenn! I've grown up around animals my entire life. When I am not pet sitting, I foster both cats and dogs, which has given me experience working with senior pets, puppies, kittens, and animals that need extra patience and support. I believe pet care goes beyond basic needs. I take the time to ensure pets feel safe, mentally stimulated, and comfortable. Whether that means positive reinforcement training, enriching play, and giving them extra affection. I also love baking homemade healthy snacks for pets and enjoy learning new ways to ensure your pet is happy. For the next three months, my schedule is flexible. I am available to board pets during the weekdays and weekends. I can accommodate various schedules for people who are vacationing or need a dog walker. I strive to create a calm and fun environment for your pet. Currently, there are no children in my home which allows for a quieter more relaxed setting for pets who may need extra comfort or routine. In my home, I have plenty of space for your pet's needs. I have one dog and two cats that are friendly with other dogs and cats. However, I can also accommodate an additional room or a separate area for your pet. Simply share your preference, and I can accommodate it.

About: I have been trusted since childhood to watch over my neighbors' pets and have experience with two pit bulls and countless cats. I don't mind giving medicine, as my senior cat took some for years. I work full-time during the week, but am free all weekend to give your furry friend some love. I am generally active, so walks in the morning and evening are not an issue and I can easily integrate them into my daily routine. I can easily crate pets, love to take daily walks, and play for about an hour or two with my own pets, so I do not mind addressing the needs of your pet based on their energy level.

FAQs for House Sitting - Madera

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Madera on Rover is $76.59 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 484 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Madera. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Madera walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Madera maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Madera choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Madera. On Rover:

  • 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
