About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and I love them so very much. I’ve spent years caring for my own pets and have experience with dogs, cats, and other small animals. I also recently cared for a special-needs puppy who required extra patience, attention, and hands-on care because of his disability. That experience taught me a lot about understanding an animal’s individual needs and adapting my care to make sure they’re comfortable, safe, and loved. I’m very patient and attentive with animals and will always treat your pets with the same love and care I give my own. 🐾❤️ I currently work part-time, which gives me flexibility to provide dependable pet care throughout the week. I’m available for walks, drop-in visits, and quality one-on-one time with your pets. I do my best to keep my schedule up to date and communicate clearly, so you can feel confident knowing your pet is getting reliable, attentive care. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and routine are always my top priorities. I take the time to learn each pet’s needs and carefully follow any instructions you provide, including feeding schedules, medications, and walking preferences. During walks, I use secure leashes, stay aware of our surroundings, and make sure your pet is safe and comfortable at all times. I’ll also treat your home with the same respect I would my own and keep you updated with messages and photos so you always know how your pet is doing.

“Eve was great! She watched my dog Bud at my place for 10 days and took care of the house while I was gone. She gave Bud lots of love and attention. She sent lots of photos and updates. I recommend her!”

“Chastity was the perfect friend for my German Shepherd Millie. Right here in our home, she played games with her, gave her plenty of love, and kept me updated with pictures while I went shopping for the day. I will definitely use her again.”

“You can tell taking care of animals is in Nelson’s blood. He came through for me and Nico on a last minute business trip and provided plenty of updates throughout the day. In addition to taking excellent care of Nico, Nelson also left the house even cleaner than I did when I left which is such a relief after coming home from a trip. Thanks again Nelson, Nico is already looking forward to hanging out with you next time!”

“By far the best experience we’ve had! Kirsten is reliable and dependable. Our dogs were kept on their schedule, we were provided updates and photos and we felt at ease and knew our dogs were cared for. Even our house was well cared for!”

About: I have been surrounded by animals since I was just 2 years old, making pet care second nature to me. Over a lifetime of ownership, I have raised everything from dogs and cats to chickens, bunnies, a hamster, and a chameleon. My hands-on experience also includes years of fostering cats and dogs, as well as taking in strays and nursing them back to health. This diverse background has made me highly adaptable to different behaviors, medical needs, and pet personalities. I am an incredibly compassionate, loving person dedicated to a future of helping animals, and I will treat your pets with the exact same deep care and devotion I give my own. Pet care is my absolute top priority, and because I am completely free all the time, I can fully devote 100% of my attention to your pet. My highly flexible schedule means I am available throughout the day and week for consistent feeding, exercise, and companionship. Your pet will never feel lonely, as I am always around to keep them company, maintain their exact daily routines, and ensure they get the dedicated love they deserve I build deep trust with animals by treating them like family and giving them a spoiled, loving environment where they can thrive. My home features a fully fenced yard where pets can safely run, play, and burn off energy. Pets naturally bond with me; my childhood dog used to sleep right above my head and sit at my feet whenever I was at my desk. Whether caring for them in my home or yours, I maintain this exact level of safety, deep devotion, and respect. I strictly follow your specific safety rules, keep environments clean, and will send you frequent photo updates so you always have total peace of mind.
“Danielle was AMAZING!!! Our pets are pretty quirky and Danielle easily adapted to their needs without hesitation. We even encountered an unexpected snafu while away and Danielle was quick to problem solve the situation and communicate effectively to achieve resolution. I have absolutely no doubt she can handle my pets again with ease. I will definitely be looking to hire Danielle in the future.”

“Piper did such a great job taking care of my pup! I contacted her as a very last minute request and she was so friendly and communicative. I have never left my dog overnight so I was a little nervous but she was great and made my dog so comfortable. I received the cutest update photos and my dog was happy when I got back (not upset or anxious). I was able to relax on my last minute trip with how well Piper took care of everything.”

About: I’ve watched my aunts dogs and cats for a whole weekend and I had a fun time doing it I just got spend time with the animals. Everyday they keep me busy but I wouldn’t change a single thing in my life for it I love my two cats and dogs they are everything to me I give them plenty of room and freedom I feed them wet food around 4 but they have dry food throughout the day and they have plenty of water they also have a backyard to roam and use the potty.
About: I've mainly cared for adult dogs, but I am experienced with bathing and brushing dogs teeth. I'm also used to dogs who live mainly inside the house, but I've also cared for outside dogs. My girl Sophie isn't big on going outside when its hot, and I'm back home from college, so I wouldn't mind having another dog to take care of, I won't have to work until I return to college so I'm rarely busy. When I'm housesitting, I try to keep lets in the area with me at all times. Pets can be chaotic, so I've gotten fairly used to cleanup and even bathing pets who aren't big fans of baths.
About: I’ve had pets ever since I was born! I have experience taking care of cats and dogs. Playing, walks, bathing, feeding, or even giving medications. I usually work either M-W or W-F, so I have a lot of free time! I am free two days during the week and weekends. My apartment doesn’t allow pets, so I am more than willing to go the client’s home. I am respectful and considerate of other’s places and privacy. I am also great at reading instructions or guides for pets.

About: I’ve had the joy of owning and caring for both dogs and cats over the years, giving me hands on experience with pets of different ages, personalities, and needs. I understand that every pet is unique, and I always strive to make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. With dogs, I have experience raising one since he was a puppy, so I’m familiar with the patience, consistency, and attention they need as they grow. I have experience with daily walks, maintaining feeding schedules, and keeping dogs safe during walks by being mindful of things like hot pavement with this summer weather. Additionally, I taught my dog fun tricks including “sit” and “paw,” which Im willing to teach if wanted. I have even more experience with cats, having cared for my own cat for over three years as well as multiple kittens and stray cats. Through this experience, I’ve learned to recognize their different personalities, respect their boundaries, and provide the care and affection they need to feel comfortable. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, or simply having someone to keep them company, I’ll treat them with the same care and attention I’d give my own pets. My goal is for both you and your furry family member to feel comfortable and worry free while you’re apart. Im a third year student at the University of California, Merced. I was on Rover back in the Bay Area and am hoping to continue this work here in Merced. I will have classes, but also a lot of free time that I’m hoping to fill with pet care. Feel free to reach out to see if I’m available! Please feel free to let me know before I care for your pet if you have any special requests, routines, or precautions you’d like me to follow. My goal is to make sure your pet feels as safe, comfortable, and loved as possible while you’re away. Every pet is different, and I’m committed to providing the personalized care they deserve.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Merced walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Merced maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Merced choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
