“Ken was amazing at taking care of the dogs! He came on time, stayed for a while, kept great notes and made sure to include pictures (which I love). I never had to worry about whether or not the dogs needed to go outside, get some love and affection, or needed to drink some water. Ken made sure everything was documented so I knew how my fur babies were doing while I wasn't there. Highly recommend and will be using his services again for sure soon!”

About: I’ve had both cats and dogs since I was 5, so caring for pets has always been a big part of my life. I’m comfortable with their daily care, routines, and different personalities. I also understand pet body language and know how important it is to recognize when a pet is happy, nervous, uncomfortable or just needs some space. I’m patient, attentive and will treat your pets with the same love and care I give my own. I currently work full time, so my availability is more limited during my regular work schedule. However, my workplace will be temporarily closing for about a month in October, which will give me much more flexibility and availability to care for pets during that time. I’m happy to work with owners to find times that fit both of our schedules. I plan to care for pets in their own homes, where they can stay comfortable and in their familiar environment. I’ll follow their normal routines, including feeding, walks, playtime, potty breaks, and any other care instructions provided by their owner. I’ll also give them plenty of attention, patience, and affection while make sure they feel safe and comfortable.
“Aliyah is an exceptional puppy walker and great person in general. She came to meet and walk my girls very last minute and was very positive the entire time. We even had a slight hiccup and she remained calm and professional! Will definitely book again!”

About: 🐾 Welcome to Our Home for Happy Dogs! 🐾 We’re a family that absolutely adores pets — they’re our babies, and we’ll treat yours the same way! Our own furry family includes a longhair Chihuahua we rescued as a pup, a Chow-Chow mix rescued from the woods, and two gentle Great Pyrenees who serve as our lovable outdoor guardians. Growing up with dogs, I can’t imagine life without them, and I’ve had the joy of dog-sitting for multiple families over the years. Your pups will be supervised at all times and safe when we step out for errands. Most dogs love the socialization here — it’s a blast to watch them play and make friends! As a stay-at-home mom, I’m home full-time to care for your dogs with plenty of love, attention, and snuggles. I can’t wait to welcome your furry family members into our home! Our property sits on 15 acres and is home to chickens, guinea fowl, and turkeys. The backyard is fully fenced, providing a safe, fun space for your pups to run, explore, and play. We have lots of dog toys available, so there’s no need to bring extras — we’ll keep your toys safe and avoid any mix-ups. 🕕 Hours: 6am–9pm (Flexible if you need early drop-offs or late pick-ups — just ask!) 🎁 Referral Bonus: Refer a friend who books a stay, and you’ll receive 1 free night for one of your dogs! We’d love to meet your pups and give them a safe, happy, and loving home-away-from-home. Feel free to reach out with any questions — thanks so much for checking out our profile! I'm home full time so we will mostly be here with your fur baby. If we do leave for a playground or errand it's for a short time. I have two dogs of my own for socialization and a crate or separate room if needed if there's a dog that needs a break.
“I recently used Kimberly from Rover to take care of my dog, and cats and overall, it was a great experience! Kimberly was very friendly and clearly loves animals, which made me feel comfortable leaving my babies in her care. She provided regular updates and photos, which was a nice touch and helped me feel at ease while I was away. My fur babies seemed happy and well taken care of when I returned, and I appreciated the attention to detail in making sure all of my instructions were followed. Overall, I would definitely recommend Kimberly to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter!”

“Marissa has been wonderful. She is on time and takes care of my pups. My pups loves when she comes over to play with them. I continue to use Marissa and recommend her to all pet owners.”

About: I’ve had/been around many different types of dogs my entire life. My family would always want me to come over and train/watch theirs animals for them like I was the go to person for anybody who got a new pet. I also use to volunteer at a boarding company to help feed/walk the dogs. I currently do doordash so I can pretty much fit any request in to my schedule. The most amount of time I would be away would probably be around 5-6 hours. I’m a dependable and caring pet sitter who treats every pet like my own. I know how important routines are, so I make sure pets are fed on time, get plenty of attention, and feel comfortable and safe while their owners are away. I’m patient, responsible, and good at picking up on what each pet needs, whether that’s playtime, walks, or just some extra cuddles. I also like to keep owners updated so they can relax knowing their pet is happy and well taken care of.

I treat every pet like my own and keep communication open with regular updates and photos so you always know how they’re doing. My goal is for you to feel at ease and your pet to feel happy and at home. I currently am in graduate school at Duke, so my schedule is flexible! That means I have plenty of time each day to play, walk, and care for your pets. I’m available for boarding on both weekdays and weekends, and I make sure every pet gets lots of attention and care throughout the day. I live on 13 acres of beautiful land with backyard access to trails, which gives plenty of space for walks and outdoor playtime. About: I've had dogs for over 15 years and a cat for almost 10 years and love taking care of them. I currently have 1 older cat living with me and he is very kept to himself. He's a sweet little guy who isn't bothered by other animals as long as they don't bother him! My availability is any time between classes which are scattered throughout my week. This is a small part time job I've taken for fun while going through my medical school journey so I spend most of my time studying. However, I will happily take your pet to a nice study spot! I'd also love to spend my study breaks on walks or runs with your furry baby! I am very flexible with timing and cancellations. Though I don't have professional experience, I have been around animals all my life. I'm very good at following directions and love learning new things. If the dog has special necessities, I am willing to accommodate. Pet care fits naturally into my routine as a student. I often take dogs with me to quiet, dog‑friendly study spots, and I use my study breaks for walks, playtime, or runs. Because my class schedule is scattered, I’m very flexible throughout the week and can adjust care times as needed. Spending time with pets is a fun and refreshing part of my day. I care for pets by sticking closely to their regular routine and following all instructions for feeding, walks, meds, and special needs. I make sure they get plenty of attention, exercise, and comfort through walks, playtime, or relaxed hang‑out time. In my home, I have one older cat who mostly keeps to himself and does well around other animals as long as they don’t bother him. If needed, he can be comfortably kept separate in a bedroom he’s used to. I always aim to keep things calm, clean, and stress‑free for both pets and owners.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
