About: I have been around dogs my whole life. Dogs seem to take to me well. I’ve worked as a junior groomer for a few months and trained my own dog. Not professionally, but he listens and understands. I’ve always loved dogs and been an animal person! I have an almost 4 month old baby so I have been a SAHM. I love to work and would like to help my family more. This way I can be at home loving on my son and also your fur babies! We just moved into our forever home due to my husband being retired Navy. We got married in Hawaii where he was stationed and I grew up. Our neighborhood was military and I would watch peoples dogs, board, check ins, walks. I worked at a doggie daycare and became close with a client who would bring her dog over to me to watch instead. Also, became very close with some people in the neighborhood whom I’ve take care of their dogs and now can say are friends like family!

About: I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember, and caring for them has always been something I truly enjoy. My family has always said that one of my best qualities is how naturally I connect with animals. I have a calm, patient, and loving personality, and I treat every pet with kindness and respect. Whether your dog loves long walks, playing outside, or just having someone to keep them company, I’m happy to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I know every pet has their own personality and routine, so I’ll follow your instructions carefully and give your furry friend the same care and attention I would give my own. I understand that trusting someone with your pet is a big decision, and my goal is to make both you and your pet feel comfortable. I’ll always provide dependable care, lots of affection, and updates so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. Pet care fits well into my schedule because I currently work a part-time job, which gives me plenty of flexibility throughout the week. I’ll also be starting community college soon, but I’ll only be attending classes two days a week. This allows me to dedicate time to walking, playing with, and caring for pets while making sure they receive the attention and love they deserve. I’m dependable, organized, and committed to providing reliable care. Whether your pet needs a daily walk, drop-in visits, or extra attention while you’re away, I’ll make sure they’re safe, happy, and well cared for. I understand how important routines are for pets, and I’ll always do my best to accommodate your schedule and your pet’s individual needs. Whether I’m caring for pets in my home or in a client’s home, I always make their safety, comfort, and happiness my top priorities. I follow each pet’s routine closely, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, fresh water, medication if needed, and any special instructions provided by the owner. I make sure pets get plenty of attention, exercise, and affection so they feel comfortable while their family is away. I also keep their environment clean, watch for any changes in their behavior, and provide regular updates so owners can have peace of mind. I treat every pet with the same love, patience, and care that I would give to my own.

Mardi did an incredible job taking care of our cats and home while we were away for a week! She followed our instructions perfectly, sent regular updates and photos, and left our house in even better condition than when she arrived. I’m usually a little anxious about leaving the cats when we travel, but I was able to relax and enjoy our trip knowing everything was safe in her hands. I will absolutely book her again the next time we need a cat sitter!

She kept us informed with pictures and videos, so we knew our pups were in good hands. She treated our home with care, too, which was appreciated. We would happily book with Meredith again!

About: I’ve been pet sitting for over 5 years and absolutely love getting to know your pets and you! I’ve cared for dogs, birds, rabbits and cats of all ages from energetic puppies to senior pets needing a little extra patience and care. I’m experienced with feeding schedules, administering oral medications, and supporting pets with anxiety or special routines. I always take the time to make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and loved. I treat every pet like my own and keep communication open with regular updates and photos so you always know how they’re doing. My goal is for you to feel at ease and your pet to feel happy and at home. I currently am in graduate school at Duke, so my schedule is flexible! That means I have plenty of time each day to play, walk, and care for your pets. I’m available for boarding on both weekdays and weekends, and I make sure every pet gets lots of attention and care throughout the day. I live on 13 acres of beautiful land with backyard access to trails, which gives plenty of space for walks and outdoor playtime. While the area isn’t fenced, I always keep pets safe and supervised during any time outside. I don’t currently have any pets of my own, so your furry friends will have my full attention and plenty of company while they’re here. I also know many pets feel more comfortable staying in their own familiar environment, so I’m always happy to care for them in your home. I primarily offer in-home sitting and make sure to maintain your pet’s normal routine so they feel secure, relaxed, and loved while you’re away.

I can't recommend Charisma highly enough for her exceptional care of my puppy! From the moment I dropped him off, I knew he was in great hands. Charisma took him to the dog park, where he had an absolute blast playing with her puppy for the day. By the time I picked him up, he had expended all his energy, which is exactly what I needed! Not only was he well-exercised, but he was also well-fed and clearly taken care of with the utmost attention and love. Charisma's communication throughout the day was fantastic; she kept me updated with adorable pictures and notes on how he was doing. If you're looking for a reliable, caring, and fun caretaker for your pet, Charisma is the perfect choice. I wholeheartedly recommend her services to anyone who wants the best for their furry friend. She truly goes above and beyond!

About: Extensive experience with dogs of all ages, breeds, and temperaments—especially those needing extra care like insulin or medication—makes us confident and capable sitters. High-energy pets are no problem; staying active is a big part of our lifestyle. Herding breeds are a particular favorite, and a month spent volunteering at a dog rescue in Mexico deepened our connection with special needs animals. Comfort around a wide range of pets—including cats, birds, reptiles, and small animals—means your entire crew is in good hands. Whether it’s long walks, quiet companionship, or cozy couch time, we adapt easily to what each animal needs. Respecting your home and routines is a top priority. We've cared for homes during multi-week stays and are always mindful that it's your space. Happy to follow your house rules, keep things clean, and tend to your plants with care—because coming home to a tidy, well-loved space makes all the difference. We are pet parents and please know that our dog Quinn is part of the package. Quinn is a senior australian shepherd who has great manners, is toilet trained and gets along with dogs of all ages and sizes. Our day revolves around our animals. We will always start with a cuddle and We’re home most of the time since we work remotely, which means your dog sets the pace for the day. Whether it’s a big outing to the dog park or a lazy afternoon full of cuddles, we’re happy to match their vibe. We make sure there are plenty of potty and play breaks—and we always end the day with as many snuggles as we can get. No matter where we are, one thing remains constant: our love for animals. From big, playful dogs to the quiet charm of a cat curled up on the couch, we find joy in every furry (or feathered!) friend we meet. Whether it’s spending an afternoon exploring nature or simply snuggling up after a long day, our ideal companion is always an animal friend. We’re excited to combine our love of travel, the outdoors, and animals to help take care of your pets while you’re away. Trust us to provide your animals with the attention and care they deserve while you enjoy your time away!

FAQs for House Sitting - Lewis

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 849 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Lewis. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lewis walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lewis maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lewis choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lewis. On Rover:

  • 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
