“Elizabeth was an amazing sitter for my Pyrenees/Golden mix! I could tell he genuinely appreciated her company and will remember her forever now! She was very patient with him, as he struggles with stairs. Her communication was also excellent throughout. I was 1000 miles away but receiving pictures and daily updates really help assure me that Joni was having a nice time. Thanks again!!”

“Rena was outstanding! She took great care of my puppy and sent photos and videos. She took him out for walks several times each day. I will definitely use Rena for any future boarding needs.”

“Kimberly took exceptional care of our pups! Highly highly recommend to anyone looking for an attentive care taker for your fur babies while away. I will not hesitate to call Ms. Kimberly again to watch Greta and Bow again.”

“Kelly was such a relief with helping us on a last-minute boarding over the Christmas weekend. As it was our first time using rover, she was very good at calming my concerns and making sure I understood how everything would happen. She was even kind enough to send pictures while we were away. The whole experience was so much better than the typical kennel setup - not sure we’ll even think of anything but Rover and Kelly next time.”

“Thank you for making my first experience with this app such a positive one! As a fairly new pet parent, I had never used this app and didn’t know what to expect. Beauty was very responsive, sent videos and updates, and I could tell my dog really loved his time there. Will absolutely book again.”

“Lashelle was absolutely amazing with Rockie! From the moment I dropped him off, she kept me updated with thoughtful, detailed messages and plenty of photos, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. Rockie is naturally anxious in new environments, but Lashelle was incredibly patient and knowledgeable. She understood his body language, gave him the space he needed to adjust, and helped him build confidence at his own pace. I especially appreciated how she handled introductions with her family and pets, always putting Rockie's comfort and safety first. It was clear she has a lot of experience with dogs and truly cares about their well-being. She kept me informed about everything—from his eating and potty habits to his progress settling in, making new friends, and even his funny moments watching TV! She also went above and beyond by cleaning him up after an accident without hesitation. By the end of his stay, Rockie had gone from being nervous to relaxing on the couch, enjoying the yard, snuggling with the family, and even warming up to everyone in the house. Seeing that progress meant so much to me. I couldn't have asked for a better sitter. Lashelle treated Rockie like one of her own, and I knew he was loved and cared for every step of the way. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone who is compassionate, experienced, communicative, and truly dedicated to providing exceptional care. We will absolutely be booking with her again!”

“I’m so thankful for the care that Yiqiuxi and Nick took for my baby girl. Although she was nervous, they did the best they could to make her feel at ease and kept me updated on how she was doing the whole time they cared for her. Thank you and I look forward to a continued relationship with you and my baby girl.”

“Our two dogs are always happy at Rose’s home! We enjoy pictures and updates while we’re traveling. We have a senior dog and it is a comfort to know she is comfortable and happy while we’re away.”

“Coby had a great stay with Erin and her family. Erin sent pics of Coby everyday, which kept me informed.of how he was enjoying his stay. Coby enjoyed his time with Erin's fur babies and as soon as he jumped in the car, he took a nap on the way back home.”

“Onayda has been awesome. Both our dogs loved her! Maybe a little too much we’re not sure if they still wanted to go home lol! Super friendly, replies fast, and communicates consistently. Definitely worth it.”

“Kerry and her family took amazing care of my dog Briggs while I was out of town. I got loads of adorable pictures, and he was returned groomed and fluffy with a new bandana. I highly recommend them and will be reaching out again when I travel.”

“Tanita and Terrence were amazing sitter for our dog Ace while we were away. They updated us with pictures and videos and were always prompt with their response. I would definitely recommend and use their services again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Leonardtown
When I picked up Jackson, I was not sure he wanted to leave his vacation with Kathryn and her wonderful family! Sure he was excited to see us, but, then he laid down next to Kathryn as if he was feeling pretty comfortable at her home! She sent photos and write ups daily and this made me feel so much better about leaving him in her care. It was like he knew the family forever! This was the first time we went away without him in 8 years so I was a bit anxious about leaving. I would have no problems leaving him again if I have another opportunity to do so. I highly recommend Kathryn and I know he was very happy being there and well cared for. He enjoyed his daily walks and never missed a meal and perhaps, Me!!!! If there were 10 stars I would click everyone of them!

Was very appreciative that Donna took Kodi at the last minute when her usual border wasn't available. She seems so pleasant. Kodi was fine. I will definitely use her again if necessary. I gave her a cash tip which I always do so that they can get full benefit of it.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
