“Marla took amazing care of our fur babies! What we loved the most was how she took time to play with them each visit and sent us the best pics to keep us updated. We will be using her again!”

“I was in such a pinch when Ryan came into our lives and helped out! Had a previous sitter cancel last minute and I had no one to watch my boy while I was gone for a 12 hour shift. With no hesitation, Ryan came out the next day! He’s always on time, my pup is always so happy to see him, and always makes sure Levi has water and a treat when he leaves. I can’t recommend Ryan enough!!”

“I highly recommend Georgia! She has been excellent in taking care of my Weimaraner, Leo. She is incredibly caring, thoughtful, and attentive to his needs. I always feel at ease knowing he’s in such good hands. Leo absolutely enjoys his time with her, and it’s clear she genuinely loves and cares for the dogs she works with. I’m very grateful to have found someone so reliable and compassionate.”

“Lana was outstanding! She did an amazing job with our dog, Shadow. I enjoyed the updates and pics while we were away and we will definitely rebook with her in the future. Thanks, Lana!”

“Aaliyah is super! She is great with the dogs. She is exceptionally reliable and a fantastic communicator. She has provided daily drop in visits since January and I highly recommend her.”

“We had Sarah stop by and do a check-in on our brand new puppy. She was timely, took a handful of photos, and made sure our pup was comfortable and settled in her kennel before leaving. She did great! Highly recommend!”

“Caryn was an amazing cat sitter—reliable, kind, and very attentive to Oreo. She kept us updated and made sure everything was taken care of. We would absolutely hire her again!”

About: I’ve always had dogs in my life, growing up with three dachshunds and now having a very active dog of my own! I understand that every dog has a different personality, energy level, and routine, and I’m comfortable adapting to their individual needs. Whether it’s long walks and playtime for high-energy dogs, reinforcing good habits with puppies, or providing extra patience and attention for senior dogs, I’ll treat your pet like one of my own. I currently work part time and have an open schedule on Monday and Fridays. I end my work day usually around 5 and can also be available for care in the evenings. I can always work my schedule around to best fit you and your dogs needs as well. I want pets to feel as comfortable and happy as possible, so I do my best to stick to their normal routine. In a client’s home, I’ll follow all instructions for feeding, walks, playtime, medications, and any special care needs. I’m very active and love getting outside, so I’m always happy to provide plenty of walks and exercise for energetic dogs, while also giving more relaxed or senior pets the patience and attention they need. Most importantly, I’ll treat your pets and home with the same care and respect I would my own.
“Samantha has been nothing but great with my pup while I was away for a trip. Samantha made sure to provide great updates on my fur baby as well as follow directions! Samantha had even went above and beyond to clean up after my fur baby had a little accident. Will most definitely book with Ms. Samantha in the future!”

“Sabrina is amazing! My pups loved having her come over and she kept me and my girlfriend updated with pictures and videos. She not only let our dogs out during her drop in visits but she stayed for 30-45 minutes and played with them and gave them lots of attention. I will definitely be using her again and would recommend her to any of my friends here in town!”

“Cecilia did a great job at following our dogs schedule and provided lots of photos with her updates which we appreciated! Super easy to work with. Very responsive. Will definitely use her services again!”

About: I grew up with a wide variety of pets (dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, and fish), have been pet-sitting an even wider variety (parakeets, turtles) since I was a teenager, and also trained service dogs for two different organizations in college. I am currently the go-to pet sitter for most of my friends and family because they know I will treat their pets like my own (i.e. happy and spoiled). --- I have experience with pets in all stages of life, as well as those with special needs. If your pet takes medications or has a complicated feeding schedule, I can easily handle it (bonus points if you provide detailed notes, though!). I am an office worker with a hybrid schedule, so I’m only in the office Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. I am available for boarding and drop-in visits most weekdays, weekends and holidays. I own a small, single-story home with a large, fenced in backyard in a quiet neighborhood with a lot of walking trails and parks nearby. I strive to provide a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for all. Pets are also welcome on the furniture (I mean, where else will those snuggle sessions occur?). --- I have one cat and two dachshunds, so my house is both cat- and dog-friendly. I provide several cat trees, scratching posts, and litter boxes throughout the house. I also have multiple dog crates, as well as ramps up to the bed and couches.
About: I am flexible and reliable. I will also connect with your pet(s) so that they can feel loved and secure while their family is not home. This is my part-time job and I can be available up to four times per day, considering the circumstances you are seeking and my daily commitments. I will serve one home at a time. I will visit your home on the agreed upon times and make sure your pets' needs are met. I am willing to work with special requests and will send daily pictures and updates.
“She is amazing! She will absolutely let you know if there is anything abnormal. I don’t have to worry about anything, she’s very detailed when it comes to the Rover card and she follows care instructions very well. Very consistent with time as well. I would recommend her to friends and family.”

About: I am a student at UTSA. I have one cat (Mara) living with me currently. But I have always grown up with many pets of different ages and sizes. I am a loving and caring person especially for animals. I love play time with them, gives me a little exercise too haha. I also have a lot of free time outside of school so I can take good care of your baby all throughout the day. I have experience with giving pets medications, even bigger dogs, so long as they aren't aggressive. I also have experience with handling senior pets. Book me and you are guaranteed your pet will be well taken care of! 💕 and I’m a pro at silly pet pictures, so you’ll get plenty of those. I have school monday-thursday but only a few classes a day so I have time before, between, and after classes. Otherwise my availability is fully open! I am skilled in cleaning up after pets who have accidents. I also love taking walks and play time. Lots of cuddles will be provided too.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely Wonderful Dog Sitter! Highly Recommend Nicole! 🐾❤️ Nicole did a fantastic job taking care of our pups, Loki and Marley, over a long weekend! She arrived for every visit right on schedule and made sure each drop-in was meaningful, with plenty of attention, affection, and fun walks. We could tell Loki and Marley were in great hands because they were so happy and excited every time Nicole arrived! I loved being able to check our Ring camera and see how sweetly and genuinely she interacted with them. It gave us such peace of mind knowing they were happy, comfortable, and well cared for while we were away. Nicole was also wonderful about communication, sending pictures and updates after every visit so we always knew how our pups were doing. Her reliability, thoughtfulness, and genuine love for our dogs made the entire experience stress-free. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and will absolutely be booking Nicole again! If you’re looking for someone dependable, caring, and attentive to your fur babies, we highly recommend her. Loki and Marley give her two enthusiastic paws up! 🐶🐶❤️

Lindsay was wonderful with our two kittens, Miku and Teto! She sent detailed updates and plenty of adorable pictures during both visits, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. It was clear she genuinely enjoyed spending time with them and made sure they had plenty of food, water, attention, and playtime. We really appreciated the care she showed our girls and would absolutely book with her again! Highly recommend! 😊

Leaving my pups at home while going to work, was tough… however knowing that they are well taken care of by Sophia gives me peace of mind. Both love her so much… however my ‘lil Troy adores her… all the Picts he looks at her in a such loving way… And those eyes are only possible when they feel loved & taken care of! Thank you Sophia for caring for my precious treasures, it means the world to me!!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
