Ava was great with our little dog. She always came to give her food and take her out for a walk. She changed her pad and picked up her poop. She took out the trash. Super recommended. I would use her services again.

About: I’ve had dogs since I can remember. When I was 11 I had my own dog that I took care of and eventually once I was able to drive I payed and did everything for her (she was my age). I’ve taken care of family members dogs as well. I’m currently working at a doggy boarding and daycare facility. My job is to make sure the dogs are safe, happy and healthy. We take them out to the yard and bring them in for playtime. We learn dog body language and how to deal with their body language. I currently do not have my own dog but I do work at a boarding daycare facility. If you dog needs to be crated I can easily get them in there. The facility has very high fences for when the dogs go outside. Some dogs we do have to keep on a leash outside so they do not run away. I also play with the dogs and give them lots of love. The same can be done in a clients home as well. I will do whatever is needed for the dog I am watching.

David makes our dogs feel safe and loved. They run to him as soon as they see him. He followed all our specific instructions and was very conscientious. He snuggled with them and played with them. We really appreciated how positive he was about staying with Belle and Rory. We would definitely use David again!

About: I recently lost my Alaskan Malamute from lymphoma. He was only 5 and he had epilepsy. I am good at giving medications. I love all types of dogs, big or little. My dream is to have a chihuahua and a bigger dog in the future. I currently am unemployed and am looking for a full time job in marketing. Right now, I am free everyday and prefer to have excursions in the morning. I have a fenced in patio area that your dog can roam around in. They can go in the backyard if they have good recall but it is not fenced. Our neighbor has a dog.

About: New to Rover, but not to pets! See my background in professional pet care below! I bring over three years of professional experience from multiple dog boarding and daycare facilities, in addition to living with my own furry family members since childhood. This background gives me both the technical skills to handle logistics - from managing high-energy playgroups to following strict feeding, and cleaning protocols - and the genuine heart to treat every guest like one of my own. My time at D.A.R.G. (Domestic Animal Rescue Group) in South Africa further sharpened my ability to connect with animals from all walks of life. Special Skills: Medical & Senior Care: I am comfortable and experienced in administering medications. Behavioral Awareness: Having worked with challenging temperaments and diverse energy levels, I know how to read body language and provide the right environment for shy, reactive, or high-energy pets. Cat Specialist: I understand that cats are unique. I approach them with patience and respect - always on their terms - ensuring they feel secure in their own space. Training Basics: I can reinforce basic commands and maintain the structure you’ve already established for your pet. ✨ Why Pet Owners Choose Me • Experienced with both dogs and cats • Comfortable with a wide range of personalities and behaviors • Patient and attentive - great with shy, energetic, or more sensitive pets • Able to administer medications if needed • Reliable, communicative, and detail-oriented • You’ll always receive updates and photos! 📸 Pet care is a consistent part of my daily life. Whether I’m caring for my own pets or helping out friends, I prioritize routine and reliability. My current schedule allows me the flexibility to provide dedicated check-ins, walks, and attentive overnight care. Because I’m used to the fast-paced environment of professional daycares, I’m excellent at time management and ensuring every "potty break" and meal happens right on time. My priority is making sure your pet feels secure and loved while you’re away. When I’m in your home, I treat it with the same respect I show your pets. My Safety Protocol: Detailed Updates: You’ll receive regular updates with photos and videos so you never have to wonder how they’re doing. Routine-Focused: I mirror your pet's existing schedule to minimize any "vacation anxiety." Attentive & Alert: My background in professional boarding has trained me to be hyper-aware of environmental hazards and subtle changes in a pet's behavior or health. Calm Presence: I provide a peaceful environment for more sensitive animals while offering fun, active engagement for those who need to burn off energy.

About: I have had cats for 10 years, walked my friends dogs and babysat them, cared for birds and fishes, I love animals of all kinds! I currently work an afternoon to evening job so I have time in the mornings and early afternoons! I also enjoy exercise so its a good way to get walks in for me! I currently do not offer services in my own home, but animals are family members to me. That means dignity should be taken account for, how they are treated, trust and safety is a huge compliment to me, so I find it very important that they feel loved and safe.

Annett is wonderful and I’d recommend her to anyone! She stayed with our two sphynx cats for 10 days while we were in Europe. She took the time to really bond with them and we felt so much better knowing they were getting plenty of attention and care while we were away. She had excellent communication and her daily updates brought smiles to our faces every time!

About: I’ve grown up with dogs a good portion of my life! Love pets altogether. I can understand that all pets have different needs and quirks! I’m currently babysitting Monday’s through Friday’s but a limited amount of hours daily. It isn’t anything that would interfere with pet care needs I’d need to accomplish elsewhere. As far as overnight stays my hours wouldn’t cut in but I’d leave at some point in the day for babysitting for a couple hours. For day to day drop in’s or walks I could communicate my availability and come to an agreement accordingly with owners. My hours in babysitting wouldn’t prevent me from meeting any needs because aside from babysitting I have a lot of time available in the day. I personally don’t take boarding clients but I’m very respectful in other peoples homes. Whatever boundaries and request’s set I will honor them. I’m there to help with a service needed and get paid and hopefully get some pet cuddles in lol. I’ve worked in many different homes with different dynamics and I’ve always gotten back that I’m very pleasant and helpful, that’s huge especially when it comes to childcare. Let alone pet care. I would never take advantage or overstep it’s not in my moral compass to disrespect another persons space.

Jake is wonderful. We went on a trip for a week and he stayed with our older dogs. We got pictures and updates from Jake, he took them on walks and outside. The dogs are happy and the house was well cared for. I would absolutely recommend Jake. We never leave our dogs with anyone so this was a big deal and we can’t thank Jake enough for making this a great experience.

10/10 would recommend! Jessica and Guillermo were so amazing at taking care of Zip. Zip is a reactive dog and we were quite anxious leaving him with a sitter for the first time. Jessica made us feel so comfortable for the entire week she stayed with Zip. She was communicative and sent lots of pictures that made us know he was in great care. She respected all the instructions we gave for taking Zip on walks and was very comforting knowing we were a little nervous to leave him. We had some travel delays getting home and Jessica made accommodation to stay extra time so we didn’t have to worry about Zip. Jessica and Guillermo stayed at our apartment for the week as well and were incredible guest. They were clean and gracious and even cleaned up before leaving. Safe to say Zip has new best friends and we will absolutely be booking again!

Ava was absolutely wonderful with our pup, Lola! She kept communication open throughout our time away and provided frequent updates, which gave us so much peace of mind. She treated Lola like she was her own, making sure she was well cared for, exercised, and loved. We felt completely comfortable leaving both our home and our pup in Ava's care. We will definitely be booking with her again for future vacations or anytime we need to be away. We highly recommend Ava to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and reliable pet sitter!

Christine was beyond amazing!!! We attended our son's wedding weekend and did not want to leave our 14 year old dog alone as she gets anxious. Christine readily accommodated our split shifts needs and was very much liked by all of our family staying at the hotel. The true testament to her goodness and her love of pets is when she came to our hotel our dog got so excited, wagged her tail non- stop and jumped with excitement after meeting with her for the third time. Our dog treated Christine like she was family and that is the type of person she is. Christine made us very comfortable and our dog even more. I will highly recommend and will ask Christine again to stqy with our dog. Christine is AWESOME!!!!

Hilal was so great with our dogs. They loved her and we can’t wait to book again! She was patient with out more reactive dog and by the time we got home, they were best friends. She clearly knows how to handle dogs that are super friendly and those that need a little more convincing to settle down. We’re so glad she could accept our booking last minute.

FAQs for House Sitting - Landing

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Landing on Rover is $142.43 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 3,284 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Landing. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Landing walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Landing maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Landing choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Landing. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
