“Madelyn was so great! She watched our puppy on short notice. She is knowledgeable, accommodating, responsive, kind, and a wonderful pet sitter. We will definitely request her services again!”

“Kristina watched my pup for 10 days. She was very responsive and messaged me right back with updates. Dog had a good time and I would definitely book with Kristina again. Thanks!”

“Kassandra did an amazing job taking care of my anxious dog. We got updates and appreciate the activity and attention given. My pup came back home happy, calm and relaxed. Wow!!!”

“I don’t have words for how amazing Hawken was with our pup. She was so spoiled; it was like she was on vacation too. We received communication and photos every day. Hawken has my full confidence and I appreciate him so much.”

“Kimberly took amazing care of my 6 month old German Shepherd, Nova, during her 11-day stay. She kept me updated throughout the entire stay with frequent photos and videos, which gave me a lot of peace of mind while I was away. It was clear that Nova received plenty of attention, exercise, and mental stimulation. As anyone with a young German Shepherd knows, keeping them active is important, and I could tell Nova was happy, well cared for, and had all the stimulation she needed. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will definitely be booking with Kimberly again in the future. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, experienced, caring, and communicative dog sitter.”

“Jessica’s home was warm and inviting and extremely dog friendly. My 8 month old doesn’t have manners yet and is a bit rambunctious but Jessica was so patient with her. Sent me pics and videos of her days. If my dog Tilly could speak the day after I picked her up I just know she would have said I want to go over to my friends house! Thank you so much for loving her during my absence. You are my person I will always call you first! Thank you again!”

“She picked up Rachel from the airport and let her stay the night, while sending puppy updates. Since Rachel was flying from Fairbanks to Juneau. She was very great to work with, the communication between her getting her and dropping her off was amazing.”

About: I’ve spent my life around dogs of all shapes and sizes, and caring for them has always been an important part of my life. With 3 years experience working in a dog boarding facility and 3 dogs of my own, I understand the importance of attentive care, structure and consistent routines! I provide structured walks, mental stimulation, and exercise to help keep your dog happy, healthy, and fulfilled, while reinforcing good manners and maintaining the training and routines you’ve established at home. For in-home boarding, your dog will stay in a comfortable home environment with a fenced in yard, heated garage for chilly days and a large, open living area for indoor activities and relaxing. All pets in my care sleep in kennels at night to ensure a safe, cozy place to rest. I currently have a flexible schedule and completely open availability, I have 3 dogs of my own and your pet will be treated as part of the family! I have a fenced in yard, and three friendly dogs who would love to welcome your pups into our daily schedule of play, walks and activities! Your dog will always be attended to, and have a safe kenneled space to rest in if ever unsupervised.
About: Spent six years mushing with a recreational team, down to one dog now & just love dogs and skilled at caring for & managing many sorts of dogs. Very active lifestyle and love getting outside and exercising dogs. A tired dog is a good dog:) I work seasonally and have the winters off so I have lots of time for dog care and an open and flexible schedule. Doing foster care this winter so being pretty domestic and would love to sit some extra dogs for people. Have a nice large pet friendly home shared with one other well behaved husky and one teenager. It has a big (unfenced) yard and close to cravass moraine trail system which we frequent almost every day.
“Chelsea did a fantastic job sitting for our dogs! She was responsive when we had questions and sent us daily updates with photos demonstrating that the dogs were having a great time at her place. In fact, they seemed kind of bummed when we arrived to pick them up. 😂 We would 100% recommend Chelsea as a sitter to others and book with her again for our dogs.”

About: I have grown up with dogs. I have experience with most dog breeds and sizes. I love the big ones! I’ve loved Alaskan malamutes, Great Pyrenees, German Shepards Goldens and labs! I have also cared for and loved ferrets, hamsters, and kitties. I have 10’acres of doggie heaven and a private walking trail we can enjoy a couple times a day! We have one senior buddy in my home. He is very docile and full of love. So no overly dominate doggies please. My buddy, Rocket has enjoyed the company of friends and companions over the years, and he’s my last one left. He’ll be a great trail buddy and lounging expert to your furry baby. I love the furry babies! Let me care for them while you’re away and put your mind at ease. I work from home full time. So I only leave the property only when I have to. And living a little out of the way also keeps me home more often. But with such awesome grounds and access to all my favorite things outside, I hate leaving home anyway! Doggies are part of my flow for the day. Feed in the morning as I prep to get started on work. Stretch our legs outside for lunch, weather permitting, maybe some ball throwing and walks on the trail. Some fun snuggle times and interactions through the day. Dinner around 6, a few more breaks in the second half of the day, and close up shop for bed by 9. I have my 12 yr old yellow lab. He is just my little quiet shadow who is full of love and super easy going. I live outside of Palmer, so we have lots of open space to get outside and enjoy all the best things about being a dog. I can provide meds and supplements as needed I’ll brush your fur baby Not so great at clipping nails (too nervous) Able to provide exercise and play time.
“Kayla is amazing! She took such good care of my boy and you can tell she treated him just like a member of her family. I am so grateful for all she did for me while I was away from my dog, and I know he can’t wait to go back next time I have to go out of town. Thank you, Kayla!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Lakes home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Lakes.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Lakes sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in AK ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
