Julie kept us well informed about how Cooper was doing. He had nice long walks and play time in the yard with Julie. These are things we are unable to do with him so he loved it. Definitely would use Julie again.

About: I've always had a special connection with animals and genuinely enjoy being around them. Over the years, I've cared for dogs and cats for family and friends and have always enjoyed getting to know their unique personalities. One of my favorite things about working with dogs is teaching them fun tricks and basic commands. I've successfully taught dogs to sit, stay, roll over, and beg. Once, I even taught my dog to walk backwards on two legs 🤭 I love seeing them learn and gain confidence through patience, consistency, and plenty of positive reinforcement. I'm also someone who loves being outdoors, so long walks, playtime, and making sure dogs get the exercise and attention they need is something I truly enjoy. Whether your dog is energetic and adventurous or prefers a slower pace and extra cuddles, I'll do my best to make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away. I treat every pet as if they were my own and understand how important it is to have someone dependable caring for a member of your family. I currently have a flexible schedule, which allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the pets in my care. Whether it's walks, playtime, feeding, or simply keeping them company, I enjoy making sure animals feel comfortable and cared for throughout the day. I live in a pet-friendly home with family members who also love animals, along with a friendly Golden Retriever and my cat. Your pet's safety and comfort are my top priorities. Because every pet has a different personality and comfort level, I take the time to help them feel secure and adjust at their own pace. We have a spacious backyard and deck area, and I enjoy taking dogs on regular walks to make sure they get plenty of exercise and enrichment. I'll always follow your instructions regarding feeding schedules, medications, routines, and any special care your pet may need so they receive the same love and attention they're used to at home.

About: I’ve always loved animals and have experience caring for dogs and cats for people close to me. I’m comfortable taking dogs on walks, cleaning up after them, playing with them, and making sure they feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. I’m patient, dependable, and understand that every pet has a different personality and routine. My goal is to make both you and your pet feel comfortable and cared for throughout every visit. Since it’s the summertime prior to the college season, I have a flexible schedule and am available most days of the week. I’m happy to provide walks, drop-in visits, playtime, feeding, and plenty of attention for your dogs, cats, and other small pets. I’ll always communicate with you and provide updates while you’re away! I understand how important it is to keep pets comfortable by maintaining their normal routine. I’ll carefully follow all feeding schedules, walking routines, medication instructions (if applicable), and any special care requests. I treat every home with respect, keep pets safe at all times, and provide regular updates and photos of your fur baby so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. :)

About: I have several years of experience caring for dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities. In addition to pet sitting and dog walking, I volunteer with 4 Paws for Ability, where I’ve helped raise and train service dogs in training. This experience has given me a strong understanding of canine behavior, basic obedience training, leash manners, and how to provide consistent, positive care. What sets me apart is that I treat every dog as an individual. Whether your pup loves long walks, playtime, cuddles on the couch, or simply sticking to their normal routine, I take the time to make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and happy. I’m reliable, attentive, and committed to keeping owners updated with photos and messages so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. I currently work Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM–4:30 PM, so I’m available for walks and/or pet care anytime after 5 PM on those days. Friday through Sunday, I have a much more flexible schedule and am available throughout the day. I’m happy to work with your pet’s routine and make sure they get the attention, exercise, and care they need. I always prioritize making sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow their normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any specific instructions they provide. I know pets are happiest when they feel comfortable in their own environment, so I focus on keeping things familiar and stress-free. I’m attentive to safety, communication, and details, whether that means keeping doors secure, watching for changes in behavior, or making sure pets get the right amount of exercise and attention. I also keep owners updated with messages and photos so they know how their pet is doing while they’re away.

About: I've owned and cared for pets since I was in middle school. I own a lovable and silly orange tabby cat who lives with me and my wife in our apartment. I currently help my parents take care of their 2 labradors; one chocolate and one yellow, while they are at work during the week. I'd like to offer the same service and love to your furry friends. I am generally available every day of the week, except on a Sunday. If needed badly, I can do Sundays, but only 1pm or after. I make it a point to follow instructions very carefully in order that your pet gets everything they need and deserve. (medications, walks, vet visits[if necessary], etc.)

My fiancé and I currently work from home to be able to fit your pets schedule! With a commitment to you & your furry baby, my schedule is designed to fit their every need. About: I've owned a dog most of my life. I love dogs, but at this stage of life, I find it more rewarding to care for other people's pets and not own one of my own. I had a black lab for 14 years. She was my best friend. I'm sure you feel the same way, which is why you are looking for a sitter. Why place your pet in a kennel when I can stay with them in the home they know? Take that long weekend, or extended stay, knowing your home and pet are safe under my care. I'm an early riser. The dog is often my alarm clock. I prefer to let the dog out in a fenced yard. If the dog is well-trained on a leash, I can walk it and pick up droppings. We enjoy breakfast. I avoid people food, no matter how much they beg, unless you tell me otherwise. Active dogs want to play. Most will show me their favorite toy or game. I am retired but work from home. I am an artist and post my work online. I will ask for your wifi connection. Most pets stay with me while I work. We take frequent breaks to play, cuddle, or go out. The dog tells me what he/she is used to, along with your instructions. I'll follow your feeding and treats schedule to the letter. Later in the day, we watch TV. Many dogs enjoy Animal Planet or sporting events. I am an NFL fan and find many pets like the games too. At bedtime, I am OK if your pet wants to sleep with me. I find that a family with a fenced yard works best for your dog and for me. Your pet may act differently on a leash around other people or animals with me than they do with you. Keeping them safely in a yard avoids them breaking free of their collar or tangling with another dog. I will rarely need to leave your home during my stay, but if I do, your pet will be secured per your instructions and your home locked.

About: I’ve taken care of my daughter’s dogs the past 10 years. I understand the bond between a pet owner and his/her pet. I’ve also heard the stories of how difficult it is to get responsible and reliable pet care. I have a 10 month old bichon. I’m hoping is to ease your mind by not having to worry about your baby and to also have a buddy Wynn can play with. I am single with one dog and work remotely so I am available to take care of your pet. My only commitment is to having a work life balance. I am just beginning my pet care journey. I will follow your instructions for taking care of your pet and your home. I understand the importance of both.

FAQs for House Sitting - Kings Mills

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Kings Mills on Rover is $38.85 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 1,582 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Kings Mills. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kings Mills walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kings Mills maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kings Mills choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Kings Mills. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
